Earlier sources: Hardware

Hardware is the physical foundation of computing: chips, sensors, devices, networks, and the processes that manufacture them. Follow semiconductor research, compute architectures, and engineering developments alongside their software and energy connections.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

520 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Knowledge-Graph-Enabled Product Digital Twin for State-Conditioned Recovery in Resilient Manufacturing-as-a-Service ↗

Operational resilience in Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS) networks depends on maintaining and restoring order fulfilment when disruptions affect manufacturing services whose capacity is shared across multiple products. A disruption can extend beyond the initially affected order because recovery alternatives may compete with existing capacity commitments. Repairing only the disrupted order may therefore overlook spillover effects, whereas reoptimising the entire network may unnecessarily reopen unaffected commitments and increase computational effort. The recovery boundary therefore depends o…

Biocompatible piezoionic eutectogel sensor for self-powered physiological monitoring ↗

Abstract Piezoionics holds promise for self-powered bioelectronics, yet existing hydrogel and elastomer systems are often limited by poor biocompatibility, environmental instability, and low output. Here, we report a biocompatible deep eutectic solvent-polyvinyl alcohol (DES-PVA) eutectogel featuring a robust piezoionic response and practical wearable sensing capabilities. By incorporating a choline chloride-glycerol DES into a PVA network, we engineer tailored hydrogen bonds that selectively constrain choline cations while enabling rapid chloride anion transport, thereby amplifying the piezoi…

Nanocomposite-based additive manufacturing: Recent advances, applications, challenges, and future prospects ↗

Nanocomposite-enabled additive manufacturing (AM) provides an effective pathway for developing lightweight, multifunctional, and geometrically complex components by integrating nanoscale reinforcements with layer-by-layer fabrication. This review critically evaluates carbon-based, metallic, and ceramic nano-reinforcements used in major AM processes, including selective laser sintering (SLS), fused deposition modeling (FDM), stereolithography (SLA), and direct ink writing (DIW). The analysis focuses on structure–property relationships, nanoparticle dispersion, interfacial interactions, process…

An elastomer-embedded distributed optical fiber sensor based on optical frequency domain reflectometry ↗

This study investigates a U-shaped low-bend-loss single-mode fiber embedded in an elastomer pad and interrogated by optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR) for distributed deformation sensing. The OFDR measurements used a 2.6 mm gage pitch over an approximately 1.27 m measurement path. Steady-state strain was calculated from the final portions of the recorded signals for flat and spherical-indentation loading. In the single flat upward-loading test, mean P1 strain increased from 16.73 to 759.34 µε over nominal contact pressures of 5.09–20.37 MPa. A linear fit yielded an apparent slope of…

Microarray chip based on surface-enhanced raman scattering-chiral anisotropy for ultrasensitive detection of Aβ42 as an Alzheimer’s disease-associated serum biomarker ↗

In this study, a highly sensitive surface-enhanced Raman scattering-chiral anisotropy (SERS-ChA)-based microarray chip was fabricated for the quantitative analysis of β-amyloid protein (Aβ42) in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). To construct the chip, D-type chiral gold nanoparticles (CG NPs) were employed as the plasmonic substrate, creating uniformly distributed and densely packed hotspots. The localized chiral plasmonic electromagnetic fields generated at the chiral hotspots provide a chirality-dependent enhancement preference for Aβ42 molecules, leading to significant enhancement of their characte…

Correlation between the chip geometry and the occurrence of chip welding in dry gear hobbing ↗

Since the introduction of dry gear hobbing in the early 1990s, coolant-based machining has been replaced in many applications due to the economic and environmental benefits. However, the elimination of coolant has led to an increase in the occurrence of surface defects on the tooth flanks during dry gear hobbing, such as smearing, streaking or chip welding. Gears with surface defects are considered scrap. While there are methods to detect and prevent smearing and streaking, gears must be inspected on a regular basis to reliably detect chip welding. Avoiding surface defects in general, and chip…

Voltage-sensor conformational microenvironments encode isoform-selective ion channel activation ↗

Isoform-selective opening of voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels is desirable for its therapeutic potential yet mechanistically little-understood. Rosemary leaf metabolite carnosic acid (CA) is a high-efficacy opener of the neuronal Kv7.3 channel but exerts minimal effects on Kv7.2 or Kv7.2/3 heteromers. Here, using alanine-scanning mutagenesis, electrophysiology, radioligand binding, and all-atom molecular dynamics simulations, we found that CA achieves high-efficacy activation of Kv7.3 by binding at the extracellular cap of the voltage-sensing domain (VSD), independent of the canonical ret…

Low‐Threshold Red Lasing in Diketopyrrolopyrrole‐Based Organic Semiconductor Films ↗

ABSTRACT Achieving low‐lasing threshold organic semiconductor lasers (OSLs) in the red to deep‐red region remains challenging due to the intrinsic trade‐off between long‐wavelength emission and high optical gain. Extended π‐conjugation required for red‐shifted emission typically enhances nonradiative decay and aggregation‐induced quenching, resulting in reduced radiative rate constants ( k r ) and increased lasing thresholds ( E th ). Here, we report molecular design strategies based on a diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) scaffold that independently address high radiative decay and advanced molecular…

How to assess evidence about Hardware

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
