Earlier sources: Semiconductors

This hardware thread follows semiconductors through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

18 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

0.9-µm Nd-doped fiber amplifier seeded by a broadband semiconductor optical amplifier ↗

The broadband fiber source features low coherence, high brightness, and high temporal stability, making it attractive for sensing, imaging, and communication. Although broadband fiber sources have achieved remarkable progress in many wavelength bands, high-power 0.9-µm broadband fiber sources, which are critically needed for applications including atmospheric sensing and blue-green light generation for deep-sea communication, remain scarce. In this paper, a 0.9-µm Nd-doped all-fiberized broadband fiber source is demonstrated. The broadband fiber source is based on a semiconductor optical ampli…

Pulse-Generation Maps in External-Cavity Semiconductor Lasers with Short-Delay Optical Feedback ↗

We investigate pulse generation in external-cavity semiconductor lasers subject to short-delay optical self-feedback using a deterministic quadrature-based delay-differential model. High-resolution pulse-generation maps are constructed in the (lg(C),ϕf) parameter space, where lg(C)≡log10(C), for pump ratios μ=4, 6, 8, and 10, where μ=J/Jth. For each pump level, the feedback delay is normalized to the solitary-laser relaxation-oscillation period and set to τf/TR=0.5 and 1, providing a physically consistent basis for comparing pulsing regimes across operating conditions. Post-transient intensity…

Schottky-barrier semiconductor detectors for detecting alpha particles and neutrons ↗

Wide-bandgap semiconductor radiation detectors hold great promise for applications in harsh environments; however, traditional 4H-SiC Schottky detectors often suffer from interface degradation and increased leakage current under high-temperature conditions. To address this bottleneck, this study developed a 4H-SiC radiation detector utilizing a tungsten (W) Schottky contact, in which tungsten-induced interfacial carbide formation enhances thermal stability and suppresses leakage current degradation at high temperatures. Two-dimensional device modeling and transient pulse simulations were perfo…

Stable and efficient n-type scaffolded semiconductor for photocatalytic hydrogen production under tungsten light irradiation ↗

Abstract The production of green hydrogen (H 2 ) is a sustainable strategy to address the current energy crisis without contributing to long-term greenhouse gas emissions. Many powder-based photocatalysts have shown great promise for light-driven H 2 generation; however, in either bulk or nanostructured powder form they suffer from slow electron-transfer kinetics, material loss and poor recyclability, resulting in low hydrogen-evolution performance. In this work, we uniquely report the synthesis of an n-type scaffolded Si–Zn x Mg 1-x O semiconductor composite with an illuminated surface area o…

Selective sparsity–enhanced synchronization in disordered semiconductor laser networks ↗

Biological networks tend to leverage selective sparsity as an economic strategy to optimize function while minimizing wiring costs. In contrast, achieving synchronization in engineered systems such as semiconductor laser arrays is traditionally expected to require resource-intensive coupling to overcome intrinsic frequency disorders. We demonstrate that selectively coupled sparse networks can outperform fully connected architectures, achieving near-complete synchronization with a significantly reduced coupling budget. Using an evolutionary algorithm, we identify a “pairing opposites” principle…

Image resolution enhancement for advanced semiconductor nodes ↗

Advanced semiconductor nodes are pushing the limits of feature sizes and require metrology with sub-nm resolution without compromising on the throughput as needed for in-line process control. Recently, high-throughput scanning probe microscopy (SPM) based metrology and inspection tools capable of meeting these needs have been introduced to the market and qualified for use in HVM. While innovative measurement methods and tool architecture have allowed for a leap of improvement in throughput, the next step in further reducing imaging time can be obtained through the application of machine learni…

Stretchable Efficient Organic Solar Cells via Semiconductor Plasticizing Strategy ↗

ABSTRACT Organic solar cells play a crucial role in wearable optoelectronic devices, but achieving both high efficiency and mechanical stretchability simultaneously remains challenging. Recently Shao's group reported a small molecule acceptor (BTP‐Si4) with both mechanical toughness and electrical properties, and the synergistic enhancement of power conversion efficiency (PCE >16%) and mechanical properties ( ε > 95%) was achieved for the first time through the optimized blending with the polymer donor PNTB6‐Cl. The universal law of molecular structure–compatibility–mechanical properties is sy…

Federated and Differentially Private Learning for Root Cause Classification Across Heterogeneous Semiconductor Fabs ↗

Federated learning (FL) can train a shared model without pooling client records, but it does not by itself provide differential privacy (DP). We compare centralized training, local-only training, federated averaging (FedAvg), and client-level DP-FedAvg on a fully released synthetic benchmark of free-text root-cause-analysis (RCA) records from six simulated semiconductor fabs. The benchmark uses a fixed public vocabulary, 240 records per client, a 480-record in-distribution test set, a separately authored 480-record template-disjoint test set, and five training seeds. All methods receive 24 pas…

How to assess evidence about Semiconductors

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
