Earlier sources: Semiconductors
This hardware thread follows semiconductors through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗18 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Area-Selective Atomic Layer Deposition for Next-Generation Semiconductor Processing: Mechanisms of Selectivity Breakdown and Process Integration Strategies ↗
As device miniaturization and three-dimensional integration progress, thin-film processes for semiconductor devices increasingly require atomic-level control not only of thickness and composition but also of growth location. Area-selective atomic layer deposition (AS-ALD) is a bottom-up process that exploits differences in surface reactivity between growth and non-growth areas to form thin films only at the intended locations. Because it enables self-aligned patterning and can reduce subsequent etching steps, AS-ALD has drawn attention as a candidate technology for next-generation semiconducto…

Interfacial control of boundary-laser-driven photo-thermoelastic wave dynamics in imperfect semiconductor heterojunctions ↗
Rapid laser excitation of semiconductor heterojunctions produces localized temperature gradients, carrier accumulation, and interfacial stresses that can impair device performance and reliability. This study develops a two-dimensional photo-thermoelastic model to determine how mechanical, thermal, and electronic interface imperfections control coupled wave transmission across a GaAs/ Al 0.3 Ga 0.7 As heterojunction. Its main contribution is the simultaneous treatment of finite normal and tangential stiffnesses, Kapitza thermal resistance, band-dependent carrier partition, limited carrier trans…

Halide Effects on Platinum Co-Catalysts Govern Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in Organic Semiconductor Nanoparticles ↗
Abstract Platinum cocatalysts are essential for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution by organic semiconductor (OSC) bulk-heterojunction nanoparticles (BHJ NPs), yet the surface chemistry of photodeposited Pt remains poorly understood. Here, we show that the halide ligand in hexahaloplatinate(IV) precursors (K2PtX6, X = Cl, Br, I) critically governs both the kinetics of Pt photodeposition and the resulting photocatalytic performance. Chloroplatinate precursors leave partially reduced [PtClx]n species adsorbed on the Pt surface, poisoning active sites and severely suppressing H2 evolution rates in…

Fractional Lord–Shulman Modeling of Photothermoelastic Carrier Dynamics in a Fiber-Reinforced Anisotropic Semiconductor Half-Space with Magnetic and Gravity Coupling ↗
This study develops a fractional Lord–Shulman thermoelastic formulation for coupled photothermoelastic carrier dynamics in a fiber-reinforced anisotropic semiconductor half-space with magnetic and gravity coupling. The governing thermal, elastic, carrier diffusion, and electromagnetic equations are reduced by a normal mode/state-space procedure and solved semi-analytically: the field reduction is analytical, whereas the admissible eigenvalues and boundary constants are evaluated computationally. A Caputo time-fractional operator represents hereditary thermal transport, and the formulation reco…

Solvent‐Desorption‐Induced Formation of a Long‐Period Polymorph Yielding a High‐Performance Porphyrin‐Based Organic Semiconductor ↗
ABSTRACT Polymorphism is common in organic semiconductors, yet experimentally accessible crystal structures are often limited to thermodynamically favored phases formed under equilibrium crystallization conditions. Here, we report a structural transformation in single crystals of 5,15‐bisphenyl‐tetrabenzoporphyrin ( Ph‐BP ) triggered by the removal of intercalated o ‐dichlorobenzene. This transformation induces a 90° rotation of the π‐stacking direction between adjacent layers, giving rise to a previously unobserved long‐period polymorph characterized by the periodic alternation of two distinc…

Analysis of conjugate heat transfer in a vented process chamber for thin-film deposition in semiconductor fabrication ↗
Conjugate heat transfer in vented deposition chambers is a complex transport phenomenon involving strong coupling among forced convection, natural convection, and heat conduction through solid components. In this work, we investigate this behavior in a vented process chamber designed for thin-film deposition applications in semiconductor manufacturing. The model is motivated by laser chemical vapor deposition systems, where silane ( S i H 4 ) enters the chamber through a top inlet and the exhaust stream exits from a lower-right outlet. A silicon substrate is embedded within the chamber, and th…

High-sensitivity deep shortwave infrared organic photodetectors enabled by selenium-integrated quinoidal molecular semiconductor ↗
Developing organic photodetectors (OPDs) that can detect in deep shortwave infrared (deep-SWIR) region (1.2–1.6 μm) is technologically important. Yet, the performance of the state-of-the-art deep-SWIR OPDs remains substantially limited. Herein, we report a selenium-integrated quinoidal small molecular acceptor, SeBz-4Cl, enabling highly sensitive deep-SWIR photodetection. Selenium incorporation enhances quinoidal character along the conjugated backbone of the molecules, thus expanding absorption approaching 1.5 μm. Moreover, SeBz-4Cl with strengthened intermolecular interactions led to an idea…

Plasma-Based Atom-Selective Etching: Advancing Atomic-Scale Smooth Surface Manufacturing for Semiconductor Materials ↗
The development of human manufacturing technologies has entered the phase of atomic and close-to-atomic scale manufacturing (ACSM). The fabrication of semiconductor materials with atomic-scale smooth and damage-free surfaces is one of the core elements of ACSM and is pivotal to the rapid advancement of high-technology fields, such as integrated circuits and quantum computing. However, the simultaneous achievement of both high quality and high efficiency has consistently posed a substantial challenge for contemporary atomic-scale polishing processes. As a chemical-etching-based method, the nove…

Low‐Threshold Red Lasing in Diketopyrrolopyrrole‐Based Organic Semiconductor Films ↗
ABSTRACT Achieving low‐lasing threshold organic semiconductor lasers (OSLs) in the red to deep‐red region remains challenging due to the intrinsic trade‐off between long‐wavelength emission and high optical gain. Extended π‐conjugation required for red‐shifted emission typically enhances nonradiative decay and aggregation‐induced quenching, resulting in reduced radiative rate constants ( k r ) and increased lasing thresholds ( E th ). Here, we report molecular design strategies based on a diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) scaffold that independently address high radiative decay and advanced molecular…

Dynamics, Statistical Analysis, and Spectral Line-Shape of Semiconductor Lasers Subject to Optical Feedback ↗
We explore how optical feedback (OFB) strength affects the dynamics, noise (such as relative intensity noise (RIN) and frequency noise (FN)), probability density distribution (PDD), and spectral line-shape characteristics of semiconductor lasers (SLs). We examined photon number (PN) fluctuations, frequency shift (FS) fluctuations, and the corresponding RIN and FN spectra, along with PN-PDD and FS-PDD, across six operating states. Our findings clearly demonstrate that OFB strength transforms operational states, noise characteristics, and PDD shape and width. In CW modes, both RIN and FN decreas…

How to assess evidence about Semiconductors
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
