Earlier sources: Manufacturing

This hardware thread follows manufacturing through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

46 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Emerging Technologies in Granulation: Process Analytical Technologies and Modeling Approaches in Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing ↗

In the present review, 32 studies, published between 2020 and 2026, were reviewed to identify recent advances in pharmaceutical granulation. Emphasis is placed on the integration of real-time monitoring technologies, recent Process Analytical Technologies (PATs) approaches, the relationships between critical process parameters (CPPs) and critical quality attributes (CQAs) affecting the product, and continuous manufacturing, as well as the implementation of modern data processing models. Increased attention was paid to continuous granulation using twin-screw extrusion, alongside the use of spec…

Polymer-Based Additive Manufacturing in Cervical Cancer Management: A Review ↗

Cervical cancer management increasingly requires patient-specific and locally adaptable technologies to address complex pelvic anatomy, heterogeneous tumor geometry, limited local drug retention, and the need for improved planning and education. Polymer-based additive manufacturing offers a promising strategy by integrating digital design, customizable three-dimensional geometry, and tunable material properties. This review summarizes recent progress in polymer-based additive manufacturing for cervical-cancer-related applications from a material–process–structure–function perspective. Four app…

Stage-Wise Threshold Calibration for Early Defect Warning in Multi-Stage Manufacturing: A Cost-Sensitive Single-Line Automotive Case Study ↗

In multi-stage manufacturing, conformity is confirmed only at the final test, after the cost has been incurred. On an automotive assembly line (16,500 workpieces), a regression model per checkpoint predicts the final measurement; a threshold turns it into a Go/NoGo decision. On the holdout, the models ranked the defects (area under the curve, AUC, up to 0.81), yet at the inherited final-station limit they raised no alarm and missed all 15. The threshold was therefore calibrated per checkpoint on an earlier period under a cost-weighted objective with an explicit defect rate, and evaluated on a…

Dynamic machine-level planning for Plug & Produce manufacturing ↗

Abstract Manufacturing industries face persistent challenges due to a shortage of skilled labor and growing demand for customized products, while established automation methods are not cost-effective for high-mix, low-volume manufacturing. An intelligent automation concept capable of daily reconfiguration to accommodate new manufacturing conditions is required. Manufacturers request digital configuration over detailed programming of operational sequences and process data. Sub-operations, such as material transport and resource switching, are preferably automatically planned. This paper introdu…

Geometric digital twin for additive manufacturing (gDT-AM): In-process part surface reconstruction and shape monitoring ↗

Additive manufacturing (AM) faces critical challenges, particularly in achieving real-time quality control and precision. These challenges are heightened in complex geometries and high-deposition-rate robotic AM (HDR-RAM) processes such as robotic cold spray. Traditional quality control methods generally detect defects after the entire part is produced, leading to material waste and increased lead time and cost. The lack of real-time insight during production limits the ability to identify and correct the process variations as they occur. To address this, digital twin technology has emerged as…

Synergistic optimization of geometry, mechanics, and kinematics for multi-axis support-free additive manufacturing of continuous fiber reinforced composites ↗

Multi-axis additive manufacturing (MA-AM) enables the support-free fabrication of continuous fiber reinforced composites (CFRC), but practical implementation requires coordinated planning of slicing layer geometry, fiber toolpath topology, and manipulator kinematics. This study develops an integrated process-planning framework that links these stages through constraint forwarding. A vector field optimization (VFO) model accounts for overhang, directional variation, and stress alignment when generating curved slicing layers. Fragmented stress-aligned contours are then connected through Eulerian…

Stiffness recovery in steel bridge components repaired by wire arc additive manufacturing ↗

Repairing existing steel structures rather than replacing them offers substantial environmental and economic benefits. Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is a promising route for the on-site repair of damaged structural elements, with greater geometric flexibility than conventional techniques. This study investigates, at proof-of-concept level, the automated repair of part-through damage in steel components. Repairs were produced by depositing AM316L stainless steel wire onto C40 substrates by Cold Metal Transfer welding, following longitudinal and transverse deposition strategies. The ela…

Microstructural and Mechanical Characterization of ER310 Stainless Steel Produced by Dual-Wire Laser Additive Manufacturing ↗

Wire Laser Additive Manufacturing (WLAM) has emerged as a promising directed energy deposition technology, combining the high deposition efficiency of wire-fed processes with the localized heat input and dimensional accuracy provided by laser processing. However, studies on heat-resistant austenitic stainless steels, particularly ER310 processed using a dual-wire TANDEM configuration, remain limited. This study investigates the microstructural evolution, thermal behavior, chemical composition, and mechanical properties of ER310 stainless steel fabricated by dual-wire WLAM. A 100-layer wall, ap…

Patent review on revolutionary electrochemical CaCO 3 conversion for cement manufacturing ↗

Abstract Sustainable development has become a necessity in conventional cement production to reduce environmental impact. Global demand needs to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The transition to green cement manufacturing plays a key role in achieving net-zero carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions and carbon-neutral concrete by 2050. This patent review highlights the importance and potential of green cement manufacturing through an electrochemical process, converting calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ) into calcium hydroxide Ca(OH) 2 to produce ordinary Portland cement. This study reveals the entire…

    Physics-grounded multi-agent architecture for traceable, risk-aware human–AI decision support in manufacturing ↗

High-precision CNC machining of free-form aerospace components requires bounded compensations informed by inspection, simulation, and process knowledge. Off-the-shelf large language model (LLM) assistants can generate text, but they do not reliably execute risk-constrained multi-step numerical workflows or provide auditable provenance for high-stakes decisions. We present multi-agent knowledge analysis (MAKA), a decision-support architecture that separates intent routing, tools-only quantitative analysis, knowledge graph retrieval, and critic-based verification that enforces physical plausibil…

How to assess evidence about Manufacturing

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
