THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Security
Digital security protects systems, software, accounts, and information from misuse. Explore cybersecurity, vulnerabilities, threat intelligence, cryptography, privacy, and identity, with links to the underlying advisories and research.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗651 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Impacts of 2025 Tariff War on Global Energy Security Dynamics ↗
This study examines how the 2025 tariff episode affects four main dimensions, the 4A’s of energy security: availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability. Our findings reveal how weaponized interdependence and the interplay between realism and institutionalism could reshape geopolitical dynamics; strain established supply chains and disrupt clean energy investments. We analyze the future global energy security landscape as influenced by changes in the 4A’s in China, the EU, and the U.S. following the tariff war.

Investigating industry norms of cyber security: a critical content analysis of PwC's annual reports ↗
Purpose Industry reports are the cornerstone of the cyber security landscape, providing relevant implicit insight into the current cyber security norms and expectations. Analysis of these reports from a critical perspective is missing, meaning the role that they play and the implicit insights they contain are unexplored. Design/methodology/approach In our study, we address this research gap through studying the annual PwC industry reports relating to cyber security using a content analysis approach. Findings We identify that PwC reports have continually emphasised strategy and leadership, cont…

Design of an improved validation model with dynamic attribution and graph-based anomaly analysis for malware forensics ↗
Abstract The increasing sophistication and polymorphic nature of malware necessitate intelligent, adaptive forensic frameworks that go beyond static rule-based detection. In particular, the traditional techniques for evidence collection and analysis would not catch the evolving behaviors of advanced malware, lack context-aware feature weighting, and fail to maintain accuracy under concept drifts or temporal drifts. Such limitations thus also impede timely threats attribution and malware family discovery processes. To bridge these gaps, we propose an iterative framework for evidence collection…

Evaluating Safety Embedding Prefiltering for Analyzing Millions of LLM Agent Social Network Messages for Security and Safety Harms ↗
Agentic social networks expose autonomous agents to large volumes of potentially malicious content, including prompt injection, social engineering, and unsafe execution requests. Large Language Model (LLM) judges can detect such content, but applying them at platform scale is expensive. We study the extent to which lightweight embedding-based prefilters can reduce this cost while retaining most of the judge’s unsafe predictions. We annotate 10,000 Moltbook posts and comments with a frontier LLM judge, assigning a binary safety verdict, severity level, malicious intent taxonomy labels, and Open…

Securing the Digital Edge: How Security Management Mediates the Impact of ICT Infrastructure on Firm Performance in Emerging Markets ↗
Background Information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure drives firm performance in emerging markets, yet institutional voids and security vulnerabilities often undermine its efficacy. The mechanisms linking ICT endowment, organizational security investment, and firm-level outcomes remain underexplored, particularly in developing economies. Methods We tested a recursive three-block structural equation model (SEM) on nationally representative microdata from Peru’s Annual Economic Survey 2024 (N = 9,966 firms across 14 sectors). The model integrated the Resource-Based View (RBV)…

PAM: a domain-specific language for specifying privacy requirements from regulation to runtime ↗
Abstract Privacy regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) require organizations to specify what personal data they collect, for which purpose, how long they retain it, and under what consent conditions—yet practitioners struggle to translate these legal requirements into specifications that can be validated and enforced. We present Privacy Attribute Matrix (PAM), a domain-specific language that bridges this gap. PAM provides four constructs, derived directly from GDPR articles, for specifying personally identifiable information (PII) fields with sensitivity classificat…

Post quantum federated authentication framework for Industrial Internet of Things using FALCON threshold signatures and zero knowledge verification ↗
Abstract Distributed authentication techniques enable edge device trust in smart manufacturing and energy infrastructure Industrial Internet of Things contexts. Existing blockchain-based authentication schemes mostly use the elliptic curve digital signature algorithm, which can be exploited by quantum adversaries using harvest-now, decrypt-later attacks to record authenticated communications for cryptanalysis. CIPHER-QNL, a post-quantum federated authentication framework, integrates three complementary mechanisms: (1) FALCON threshold signature aggregation with federated polynomial key shardin…

Multi-service honeypot framework for high-fidelity cyber-attack data collection and machine learning-based threat detection in cloud environments ↗
Modern computing systems are increasingly vulnerable owing to their development using distributed techniques, such as computing infrastructure, and the growing reliance on cloud computing. Intruders frequently breach vulnerable network services, authentication schemes, and applications. Traditional IDSs are largely signature-based, making them less effective in detecting new or unknown attack patterns. Consequently, there is a growing need to develop smart adaptive systems that can understand the realistic behavior of attackers and assist in the automatic threat detection. In this study, we pr…

Trading off privacy, utility, and stability in privacy-preserving K-means clustering using an adaptive multi-objective memetic algorithm ↗
Abstract Protecting sensitive information while maintaining data utility is a fundamental challenge in privacy-preserving data mining. Differential Privacy (DP)-based K -means clustering provides a principled solution by injecting noise through a privacy budget; however, determining an optimal budget allocation remains a complex task due to the inherent trade-offs among privacy protection, clustering utility, and model stability. Motivated by the effectiveness of Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) in solving complex optimization problems, this paper proposes an enhanced Adaptive Multi-Objective Mem…

How to assess evidence about Security
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
