THE INTERNET IS THINKING

Earlier sources: Privacy

This security thread follows privacy through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

112 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Event Log Behavioral Privacy Protection Method Based on Relaxed Behavioral Profiles ↗

Privacy preservation techniques for event logs prevent sensitive information leakage by injecting noise into log data, thus mitigating privacy risks in business process management. While ensuring privacy, this approach often reduces data utility and impacts subsequent analysis accuracy. Current research mainly optimizes noise injection based on data attributes to preserve utility, but overlooks how behavioral relationship changes affect data quality. To address this, this paper proposes a privacy protection method for event logs based on relaxed behavioral profiles. First, a behavioral privacy…

Federated learning with adaptive reliability aware aggregation for privacy preserving healthcare IoT systems ↗

Abstract Healthcare Internet of Things (IoT) devices generate vast amounts of sensitive patient data, creating significant privacy risks and regulatory challenges when processed through centralized architectures. Federated Learning (FL) offers a promising solution by enabling decentralized model training without sharing raw data. However, real-world deployment faces critical challenges including device heterogeneity, intermittent connectivity, non-independent and identically distributed (non-IID) data, and unreliable node participation. This paper proposes a Reliability-Aware Adaptive Aggregat…

    Digital twin-assisted edge-local query resolution for privacy–utility trade-off in location-based services ↗

Location-Based Services (LBS) generate large volumes of sensitive, location-dependent queries that must be processed under strict and often conflicting constraints of privacy and utility. Existing differential privacy (DP) mechanisms face a fundamental limitation: strong guarantees inject excessive noise and degrade utility, while utility-oriented methods under-protect users. We propose DT-ELR (Digital Twin-assisted Edge-Local Resolution), a framework that jointly optimises disclosure and retrieval utility through two tightly integrated algorithms and an on-device digital twin. Algorithm 1 (Se…

Switched output feedback H∞ control for T-S fuzzy systems via privacy protection ↗

This paper studies the problem of dynamic output feedback H ∞ control for a class of T-S fuzzy systems with time-varying membership functions. For the fuzzy Lyapunov function, this paper constructs first-order and second-order membership-dependent Lyapunov functions, and divides the system operation region into different sub-intervals according to the sign of the derivatives of the membership functions(MFs). Dynamic output feedback controller gains are designed in each sub-interval, and the corresponding controllers are adjusted accordingly. This avoids the conservatism caused by the tradition…

AI-Driven Fit Confidence in Fashion E-Commerce: How Personalization, Transparency, and Privacy Concerns Shape Consumer Experience and Purchase Intention ↗

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming fashion e-commerce through personalized recommendations, virtual try-on, size suggestions, and algorithmic decision support. This study examines AI-driven fit confidence as a fashion-specific mechanism linking AI personalization quality, algorithmic transparency, trust in AI, consumer experience, and purchase intention, while considering privacy concern as a boundary condition. Data from 400 Ecuadorian consumers with prior exposure to AI-enabled recommendation or personalization features in fashion e-commerce were analyzed using partial least square…

GeoCloak: An Agentic Framework for Semantics-Preserving Geolocation Privacy via Peripheral Clue Manipulation ↗

The rapid advancement of large vision language models (LVLMs) has made geolocation inference from images highly accurate and accessible. This poses serious privacy risks: a passive adversary with black-box LVLM access can infer a user's location from a single photo with no metadata. Existing protection methods rely almost exclusively on adversarial perturbation, which introduces perceptible visual artifacts and utility degradation. We identify the visual-geolocation asymmetry: geolocation-decisive clues, such as street signs, tend to be visually peripheral but dominate location inference. Expl…

HN: Encrypted Privacy Aware Emails, ZyMail Hit the Globe ↗

Hi guys , i am the founder of zytech a company focused on privacy and data protection through services and a lot of stuff... So i am happy to introduce ZyMail a service that uses Waku as a way to deliver emails , and also doesn't have any cloud database and doesn't require SMTP (for tech savy guys) , however it's in beta now , test it and tell me your opinions ! (I am not a scammer i swearrrrr)

How to assess evidence about Privacy

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
