THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Hardware
Hardware is the physical foundation of computing: chips, sensors, devices, networks, and the processes that manufacture them. Follow semiconductor research, compute architectures, and engineering developments alongside their software and energy connections.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗528 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Towards a GPU-Accelerated Real-Time Imaging Pipeline for SETI at the Allen Telescope Array ↗
Traditional technosignature and transient searches commonly operate on beamformed time--frequency products. Interferometric imaging adds spatial context and allows time-domain searches to be performed across many image pixels simultaneously. We report the development and testing of a GPU-accelerated interferometric imaging and image-domain dispersion-measure (DM) search pipeline for Allen Telescope Array (ATA) post-correlation UVH5 visibility data, integrated with the CyberEther streaming framework to replay recorded visibility data and work toward real-time operation. The pipeline forms Stoke…

Ask HN: Which Distro with Nividia GPU? ↗
I don't want Windows in my life anymore. Most of my machines are Linux or Mac. I have a 4070 with 12gb. I would like to play with models, even if they're very slow. I still will use Steam sometimes, would still like to use DLSS. Which distros are good choices with Nvidia cards at the moment?

Show HN: Parakeetogo, a portable ASR binary faster than Photon/torch for CPU ↗
I wanted an easily deployable way of bringing transcription to an underpowered server I have. I used Moondream's excellent parakeet-redux as a base model and adapted Highway SIMD to run it. The result is a single binary with the model embedded than can provide nearly identical transcription quality while running even faster than the Photon/torch model on CPU targets. Benchmarks are in the repository.

Show HN: EarWing, an open source hardware device for transcription ↗
Hi HN! I've been shocked by the amount of money people are paying for hardware transcription devices and subscriptions for the software. I built EarWing, which you can 3D print and assemble yourself. It uses a ESP32 dev board and 4 microphones for noise cancellation and has a browser offload for transcription and summary generation (using LLMs running in the browser). The software if fairly rough at the moment but works quite well in Chrome. It u…

How to assess evidence about Hardware
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
