Earlier sources: Hardware
Hardware is the physical foundation of computing: chips, sensors, devices, networks, and the processes that manufacture them. Follow semiconductor research, compute architectures, and engineering developments alongside their software and energy connections.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗520 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

A Metal–Dielectric Photonic Crystal and Its Phase Response Utilized in an Ultra-High-Performance Humidity Sensor ↗
Metal–dielectric photonic crystals (MDPhCs) generating Bloch-like surface waves (BLSWs) are accompanied by narrow resonance dips and sensitivities to gaseous analytes outperforming the BSW-based sensors. In this theoretical paper, we report on a sensing concept based on the phase interrogation and BLSWs supported by an MDPhC in the Kretschmann configuration when the sensing characteristics are substantially improved. For an MDPhC comprising two bilayers of TiO2/Ag with a termination layer of TiO2, we show that the BLSW-based phase response is characterized by a steep and abrupt phase differenc…

BIMsensor: An OpenBIM-IoT Platform Implementing an Interoperable Workflow for Sensor Integration and Spatial Contextualisation ↗
The integration of IoT sensors into OpenBIM-based monitoring environments requires not only data acquisition but also the consistent organisation of sensor identity, semantic information, monitored variables, spatial context, and information exchange. This study proposes a four-stage OpenBIM-IoT workflow comprising project creation, sensor registration, georeferencing and spatial assignment, and integration within a digital monitoring environment. The workflow was implemented through the BIMsensor platform, which combines AllBIMclass-based sensor classification, a common monitored-variable cat…

Preliminary Experimental Study on the Cross-Specimen Borehole Applicability of Identical Rock-Mass Characteristics Using Built-In Multi-Sensor MWD Monitoring for a Roof Bolter ↗
Built-in multi-sensor measurement-while-drilling (MWD) modules on roof bolters can record torque, thrust, rotational speed, and displacement during drilling. This study examines whether identical rock types produce consistent MWD responses when tested through different boreholes in separate composite specimens. Three laboratory-scale composite specimens containing yellow sandstone (YS), dark-colored red sandstone (DCRS), and light-colored red sandstone (LCRS) were drilled with the same integrated rig, and the sensor responses and specific energy were compared using descriptive distributions, m…

RL-Axial: Learning When to Compute Global Context for Multimodal Segmentation ↗
High-resolution remote sensing semantic segmentation is a key enabler for fine-grained urban mapping and related geospatial applications. However, complex textures, severe scale variations, and cross-modal discrepancies make models with fixed architectures and computation paths struggle to combine reliable multimodal fusion with adequate global-context modeling. To address these challenges, we propose RL-Axial, a multimodal segmentation framework with interpretable, sample-adaptive context aggregation. A cross-modal gated fusion head (CMGF) performs pixel-wise fusion between RGB and digital su…

Manufacturing Methodology for Single- and Multilayer Square Scintillating Fiber-Based Ribbons for Direct Coupling to Linear Photosensor Arrays ↗
High-Energy and Nuclear Physics research facilities around the world demand cutting-edge instruments dedicated to exploring the signatures of particles knocked out by collisions at ultra-relativistic energies. Each instrument is a class of its own, but shares underlying technologies proven to solve specific challenges. Polymer-based scintillating fibers (cross sections typically below 1 mm2) are sensitive to a large range of particle types and broad energy ranges and provide a fast response, fine spatial segmentation, and a low material budget, making them suitable for particle tracking, beam…

Performance Analysis of Clustered Integrated Sensing and Communication Networks ↗
Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) provides a promising approach for IoT networks by combining data transmission with target sensing over shared hardware. Different from prior studies centered on the performance of ISAC networks with uniformly distributed nodes, this work explores ISAC networks with clustered distributed nodes. An analytical model based on stochastic geometry is established to assess both the probabilities of sensing and communication in clustered ISAC networks. The study highlights the influence of factors such as cluster density, node distribution, and cluster size…

Federated and Differentially Private Learning for Root Cause Classification Across Heterogeneous Semiconductor Fabs ↗
Federated learning (FL) can train a shared model without pooling client records, but it does not by itself provide differential privacy (DP). We compare centralized training, local-only training, federated averaging (FedAvg), and client-level DP-FedAvg on a fully released synthetic benchmark of free-text root-cause-analysis (RCA) records from six simulated semiconductor fabs. The benchmark uses a fixed public vocabulary, 240 records per client, a 480-record in-distribution test set, a separately authored 480-record template-disjoint test set, and five training seeds. All methods receive 24 pas…

Asymmetric Modality Domain Randomization for Drone-Based RGB–Thermal Tiny Person Detection Under Controlled Synthetic Sensor Shifts ↗
Drone-based red–green–blue (RGB)–thermal tiny person detection must account for the different appearance statistics of visible and thermal sensing. We propose Asymmetric Modality Domain Randomization (AMDR), a training-only strategy that applies modality-conditioned perturbations while preserving image pairing, geometry, annotations, and the deployed detector graph. Using a fixed Quality-aware RGBT Fusion Detector (QFDet*) baseline, we compare AMDR with Operator-Matched Symmetric Domain Randomization (OM-SDR) across eight training seeds. With a fixed epoch-12 checkpoint, AMDR achieves a mean m…

Fast, optimal readout of a tethered optomechanical pressure sensor ↗
We demonstrate a fast readout method for tethered optomechanical pressure sensors. The fast readout method allows mechanical ringdown measurement rates that exceed the total mechanical damping rate Γt. We model the uncertainty of our ringdown measurements with the Cramér-Rao bound, including the effect of thermomechanical noise. Both our data and the Cramér-Rao bound indicate that measurement rates on the order of the mechanical damping rate produce the lowest uncertainty. At low pressures, using the optimal measurement rate allows 10 × faster measurements or 3 × lower uncertainty compared to…

Development of Monte Carlo Estimators of the Flux Gradient for the GUARDYAN GPU-Based Dynamic Monte Carlo Code ↗
Monte Carlo codes are routinely used for producing the group constants for deterministic solvers including the diffusion coefficient. For the proper calculation of diffusion coefficients, it is often mentioned that neutron current weighting should be applied to the transport cross-section instead of the widespread weighting by the neutron flux, but it is scarcely noted that following the multi-group formulation of the P1 and diffusion equations, the diffusion coefficients themselves ought to be weighted by the gradient of the neutron flux. Recently, we explored the possibility of estimating th…

How to assess evidence about Hardware
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
