Earlier sources: Energy
Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗715 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Identification of single-copy nuclear PCR targets for resolution of species-scale clades: a proof-of-concept using eupulmonate gastropods ↗
Abstract To aid in the empirical evaluation of species hypotheses / concepts we present a strategy that uses NGS whole nuclear genome assemblies to identify novel single-copy universal PCR targets whose sequences discriminate species-scale clades. Our approach begins by identifying UCEs within partial Illumina genome assemblies across a strategically-chosen taxa set and culminates with experimental validation of appropriate single-copy nuclear DNA regions for PCR/Sanger sequencing. The highly diverse (~ 35 K species) group of eupulmonate gastropods was used as proof-of-concept. Among the ~ 24…

Renewable-Energy Sending-End Ring Network Coordinated Reactive Power Control of Multiple SVGs and Renewable Energy Accommodation Optimization ↗
To address reactive power counteraction, inefficient utilization of reactive power resources, and restricted renewable energy accommodation caused by the independent regulation of three SVGs in a six-node renewable-energy sending-end ring network in a region of Xinjiang, this paper proposes a multi-SVG coordinated control method oriented toward renewable energy accommodation. By optimizing the participation status and reactive power allocation of the SVGs, coordinated operation among multiple devices is achieved. Simulation results show that the renewable energy accommodation rate reaches 97.0…

Harmonic Distortion and Distribution Transformer Thermal Risk in Low-Voltage Networks: Feeder Impedance Sensitivity for Sustainable Renewable Energy Integration ↗
The increasing penetration of distributed energy resources (DERs) in low-voltage networks is central to the clean energy transition but introduces coupled challenges in voltage regulation, harmonic distortion, and distribution-transformer operation that impact grid sustainability and asset longevity. This paper isolates feeder impedance as a controlled variable and evaluates whether remote-network power-quality severity and transformer consequence follow the same sensitivity trend. A time-domain model used a factory-matched 200 kVA, 11 kV/420 V Dyn11 transformer with 40% DER connected at remot…

Integrating Well Logs, Drilling Parameters, and Machine Learning for Subsurface Characterization of Volcanic Geothermal Rocks ↗
Abstract Characterizing subsurface rock properties in high-temperature geothermal systems is challenging because extreme conditions often limit the availability and reliability of wireline, cuttings, and core data. This study applies a data-driven workflow to well THG13 in northeastern Iceland, combining objective-driven preprocessing of wireline and drilling data with unsupervised machine learning to derive electrofacies associated with rock composition and relative porosity. These electrofacies are then integrated with rate of penetration and weight on bit to investigate the mechanical respo…

Engineering Larger Grains in MAPbI3 Solar Cells via Covalent Organic Framework (COF)-Assisted Crystallization: High-Performance Devices with Superior Stability Under Prolonged Illumination ↗
Methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) is a benchmark absorber for low-cost, high-efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs), but its practical deployment is constrained by small grain sizes, high defect densities, and moisture-sensitive surfaces that limit both efficiency and stability. Here, we demonstrate that covalent organic frameworks (COFs) built from commercially available building blocks provide a powerful, multifunctional route to overcome these limitations by simultaneously regulating crystallization, passivating defects, and tuning surface properties in MAPbI3 thin films. Three hydrazon…

Vertical Gate‐All‐Around SiGeSn/GeSn/SiGeSn Nanowire Transistors for Energy‐Efficient Electronics ↗
ABSTRACT Conventional Si Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) technologies face increasing challenges in improving energy efficiency while maintaining device performance. Here, SiGeSn/GeSn heterostructures are employed as a unified Group‐IV platform for complementary vertical nanowire gate‐all‐around (GAA) MOSFETs and tunnel field‐effect transistors (TFETs) fabricated on Si wafers. The wider‐bandgap SiGeSn source/drain regions introduce band offsets to the GeSn channel, enabling heterostructure band engineering for leakage suppression and tunneling‐pathway control. Compared with all‐…

Effect of High-Energy Mechanical Alloying Duration and Boron Content on the Structural and Phase Evolution of W–B Powder Mixtures ↗
Tungsten borides are promising superhard materials, but their mechanochemical synthesis requires prolonged processing, leaving the early and intermediate stages of mechanical alloying (MA) and the role of boron content largely unexplored. This study investigated the effect of boron content and high-energy MA duration (2–10 h) on the morphology, particle size distribution, and structural and phase evolution of W–B powder mixtures, comparing a near-stoichiometric W90B10 composition with a boron-excess W80B20 composition. Scanning electron microscopy, laser diffraction, X-ray diffraction, and TEM…

Performance Boundaries of Hybrid Photovoltaic–Battery Inverters Under Dynamic, Unbalanced, and Grid Disturbance Conditions ↗
Hybrid photovoltaic (PV)–battery inverters are increasingly required to provide functions extending beyond conventional energy conversion, including zero-export operation, battery coordination, grid support, and backup supply. However, rated power and peak efficiency alone do not adequately describe their practical operating limits. This study proposes a multi-scenario dynamic assessment framework for a 10 kW hybrid PV–battery inverter under twelve normal and stressed operating conditions. The model includes PV curtailment dynamics, a first-order Thevenin battery representation with State of C…

IIGF-Net: An interpretability-driven intensity-geometry fusion framework for shield tunnel leakage segmentation in 3D point clouds ↗
Automated leakage detection from MLS-acquired 3D point clouds is essential for the preventive maintenance of shield tunnels. However, existing deep learning methods must reconcile the use of physically grounded handcrafted descriptors with the opaque representations learned by high-capacity networks. Without a principled means to verify whether handcrafted descriptors are effectively utilized by the trained network, descriptor design remains heuristic and the integration of domain knowledge with deep learning remains unverified. This study proposes an interpretability-driven intensity-geometry…
