Earlier sources: Energy
Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗715 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

SOCP-DistFlow Based Two-Stage Robust Scheduling of Shipboard Integrated Energy Systems Under Carbon Pricing ↗
Existing and prospective maritime carbon-pricing regimes, together with uncertain renewable generation, complicate the low-carbon operation of shipboard integrated energy systems (SIES), particularly when network voltages and coupled electrical, heating, and cooling demands must be coordinated. To address this problem, this paper develops a two-stage robust optimization framework for day-ahead unit commitment and dispatch of diesel generators, renewable energy sources, energy storage, alternative maritime power, and carbon capture systems. A shipboard-adapted second-order cone programming (SOC…

Scalable assembly of MXene/ANF nanofluidic membranes induced by shear-flow-alignment for giant osmotic energy harvesting ↗
Two-dimensional (2D) nanofluidic membranes have demonstrated extraordinary promise in high-throughput ionic transport systems for water-energy nexus applications. Nevertheless, the inability to engineer macroscopic, structurally ordered 2D membranes with precisely aligned nanochannels severely restricts their practical implementation. Here, we demonstrate a scalable shear-flow alignment strategy to assemble MXene/ANF composite membranes with vertically ordered nanochannels, which outperforms ionic flux leading to giant osmotic energy generation. The viscosity contrast between components genera…

A fully-enclosed torsional galloping electromagnetic wind energy harvester ↗
Most galloping wind energy harvesters (WEHs) are based on transverse galloping, whereas very few utilize torsional galloping. Adopting a fully-enclosed structure to protect components vulnerable to harsh external environmental conditions can improve the stability and reliability of WEHs. The existing fully-enclosed WEHs need two spring-mass systems, and the frequency mismatch between them reduces the stability of electrical output. This paper proposes a fully-enclosed torsional galloping electromagnetic wind energy harvester (TGEWEH) with the torsion movement caused by the aerodynamic torque o…

Reappraising energy conversion in internal combustion engines: the ideal cycle and corresponding efficiency definition from a chemical-energy perspective ↗
Conventional ideal internal combustion engine cycles are grounded in the air-standard assumption, which obscures the compositional evolution of the working fluid and mischaracterizes the true nature of energy input as external heat addition rather than in-cylinder chemical conversion. In this work, the internal combustion engine is reinterpreted as a chemically driven power system, and its ideal cycle is reconstructed accordingly. The efficiency is redefined as the ratio of actual work output to ideal work output, with a limiting value of unity attainable only when the entire cycle proceeds th…

Optimizing hydrogen supply chains for energy-intensive industries: A cost-efficient framework ↗
This study develops an optimization workflow that connects hydrogen supply chain design, hourly operation, screening of parameters, and two-stage stochastic planning. Five supply configurations and three demand profiles for a synthetic steel hub in Asturias (Spain) are compared. Reference delivered costs range from 4.402 to 5.191 €/kg without SMR, and are 3.076 €/kg with SMR and CCS under the stated economic assumptions. The dominant cost drivers shift from electrolysis and wind to hydrogen procurement or SMR as supply options change. Joint screening and conditional sensitivity analysis also r…

Spectral theory of energy-selective quantum search with Ising Hamiltonian phase oracles ↗
We develop an exact spectral-response theory for the Grover-type iterate \(W_T=D_ξ\exp(-\ii T H)\), in which the evolution generated by a diagonal Ising Hamiltonian is used directly as a continuous phase oracle. An energy-grouped recurrence and its generating-function solution show how the empirical characteristic function determines the position, width, height, and saturation time of an energy-selective resonance. For an annealed Gaussian density of states, a high-density-tail resonance containing \(M\) configurations is reached after \(Θ(\sqrt{2^n/M})\) oracle calls with success probability…

Endogenous Gdf15 activation limits adiposity and increases fecal energy excretion in mice ↗
Abstract Growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15) is an emerging target for obesity, but the effects of sustained physiological increases in endogenous GDF15 remain unclear. Here we use muscle-targeted CRISPR activation to elevate endogenous Gdf15 expression in mice. High-physiological circulating GDF15 prevents diet-induced obesity by limiting fat accumulation while preserving lean mass. This protection requires the endogenous Gdf15 locus and GFRAL signaling, without a detectable increase in energy expenditure. Alongside modest, inconsistent reductions in food intake, Gdf15 activation increas

How to assess evidence about Energy
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
