Earlier sources: Energy
Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗674 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Integrating Hyperuniform Disordered Light Trapping Layers in Ultrathin c-Si Solar Cells ↗
Abstract Ultrathin crystalline silicon solar cells require advanced light trapping to compensate for weak near-infrared (NIR) absorption. Here, we integrate hyperuniform disordered light-engineered (HUDLE) nanopatterns with high-quality surface passivation in 4.8 μm c Si cells and demonstrate robust device operation enabled by broadband coupling to guided modes. HUDLE layers enhance the fraction of power scattered beyond the escape cone by up to 30% in the NIR and increase average external quantum efficiency (EQE) by >50% over flat cells and 10% over periodic designs from 750 to 1000 nm. We di…

Monthly Peak-Shaving Control Strategies and Economic Analysis of an Ice-Storage Air-Conditioning System for Metro Stations ↗
The energy consumption and electricity cost of air-conditioning systems in metro stations keep rising with the expansion of rail transit. Ice thermal-energy storage (ITES) shifts cooling load to off-peak hours, yet existing studies mostly optimize ice-storage operation on a daily scale and rarely address multi-chiller load distribution, the coordination of the large and small systems of a station, or monthly peak shaving adapted to the two-part electricity tariff. For a standard metro station with platform screen doors in Wuxi, China, the annual hourly cooling loads of the large and small syst…

Optimized piezoelectric energy harvester for hydrogen generation from automotive vibration ↗
Abstract This study presents the design and optimization of a piezoelectric vibration energy harvesting system integrated with electrolysis-based hydrogen production. The suggested harvester is integrated into an automotive engine block and designed as a bimorph cantilever beam, experiencing authentic low-frequency vibrations from the engine at primary working frequencies of 37 Hz and 52 Hz. Finite element analysis (FEA) is performed in COMSOL Multiphysics 6.1 to assess the electromechanical response of the system under dynamic excitation conditions. Three piezoelectric materials PZT-5 H, PVDF…

Thermal Performance of a PCM Reservoir with Y-Shaped Fins for Lithium-Ion Battery Thermal Management ↗
This work numerically investigates how Y-shaped metallic fins embedded in a phase change material (PCM) reservoir affect the thermal management of lithium-ion batteries. The constructal design method was applied to evaluate the effects of the number of fins and Y-shaped bifurcation length (L1) on the maximum battery temperature, temperature difference within the battery cell, and PCM utilization. The fin area was fixed at 10% of the PCM reservoir area, while the number of fins varied from 9 to 18 and L1 from 1.0 to 2.0 mm. For a 5C discharge, the PCM reservoir without fins resulted in a maximu…

Analytical Guidance for Reentry Vehicles Based on Range–Energy Efficiency ↗
To address the reentry guidance problem of hypersonic glide vehicles under complex constraints and terminal area energy management (TAEM), a nonlinear analytical guidance method based on the concept of range–energy efficiency (REE) is proposed. First, a linear energy dissipation mode is proposed following an analysis of the dynamic relationship between energy and range-to-go. By establishing the REE variable based on this energy dissipation mode, the method transforms the problem of tracking the energy versus range-to-go profile into a time-domain regulation problem of REE. It eliminates the n…

Simulation-Based Design Optimization for Enhancing Impact Resistance of Thermal Battery Case Headers Under High-Speed Collision Conditions ↗
Modern missile, rocket, and glide bomb systems demand long-range capabilities and precision, relying on thermal batteries to sustain electronic components under high accelerations, impacts, and vibrations caused by rapidly moving projectiles. This study employed finite element method (FEM) simulations under collision conditions at 60 m/s to mitigate deformation and damage to the thermal battery header, which seals the case, protects internal components, maintains internal pressure, and houses the igniter and terminal pins. Results showed that the header lid depression and pin bending result fr…

From AI Compute Growth to Grid Stress: A Conditional Scenario-Screening Framework for the EU-27 and the United Kingdom to 2035 ↗
AI-led data-centre expansion requires distinctions between annual electricity, coincident power, conditional headroom exposure and emissions. We develop a scenario-screening framework for 28 European countries in 2030 and 2035. An illustrative 62.25 TWh regional benchmark combines an Irish metered anchor with assumed non-Irish allocations. Four scenarios separate service growth, computational efficiency, facility overhead, peak coincidence and grid intensity. Four analytical or conditional propositions replace empirical hypothesis tests. Reported uncertainty uses one archived 10,000-draw paire…

Complementary Detection of Zero-Value InsulatorsBased on the Fusion of Infrared Images and ElectricField Intensity Features ↗
To address the electrical safety hazards caused by missing zero-value insulators in high-voltage transmission lines, this study proposes a complementary detection method based on the fusion of infrared images and electric field intensity features. Infrared images of insulator strings are acquired using a UAV-mounted infrared thermal camera, and the surface temperature of each insulator is extracted via YOLOv8 to construct a temperature anomaly factor. Meanwhile, a three-dimensional electric field model of the insulator string is established using COMSOL Multiphysics 6.2 to extract the axial el…

Sustainable electric vehicle charging using Active Clamp Dual-Stage converter and advanced energy management ↗
One of the major changes happening to transport of the future is the move toward the use Electric Vehicles (EVs) which is sustainable. The same is said about solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems which have risen from the pack to be one of the most significant technologies due to their ability to tap the practically limitless solar energy. This research is primarily about the design of a solar PV-based power generation unit combined with an EV system and a grid connection. A novel Active Clamp Dual-Stage (ACDS) converter is proposed that substantially elevates PV voltage. The system under considerat…

Energy Consumer Model Estimation Using Machine Learning ↗
A novel utility model of the daily electricity consumption patterns of any residential unit is proposed. The model is semi-parametric—its internal parameters are tractable to straightforward interpretations from the standpoints of microeconomics as well as game theory. The model considers fixed and shiftable loads. A modified Cobb–Douglas preference function is applied to incorporate utility tradeoffs in operating shiftable loads at different hours of the day based on the consumer’s intrinsic preference and time-of-use pricing. Model parameter estimation is formulated as a quadratic optimizati…

How to assess evidence about Energy
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
