Earlier sources: Energy
Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗722 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Heat and mass transfer modeling and performance analysis of a multi-stage coaxial solar-magnetic hybrid distiller based on global energy balance ↗
Dissipation of condensation latent heat constrains the energy utilization, and multi-stage latent heat recovery is a promising strategy to overcome the efficiency limitation of solar-driven interfacial evaporation. Here, we design and demonstrate a multi-stage coaxial solar-magnetothermal distiller (MSCSMD) employing a three dimensional magnetic porous carbon scaffold for heat generation, enabling efficient freshwater production under photothermal and magnetothermal heating. To elucidate the coupled heat and mass transfer within MSCSMD and predict the evaporation performance, a radial heat and…

Market waste composition, biomethane yield, and energy potential in Nairobi, Kenya ↗
Introduction: Municipal solid waste (MSW) management remains a critical sustainability challenge in rapidly urbanizing cities, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa where inadequate infrastructure and reliance on unsanitary landfills exacerbate greenhouse gas emissions. Nairobi, Kenya, generates approximately 3600 tons of MSW daily, with up to 40% uncollected, straining the only dumpsite at Dandora. Material and methods: This study investigated the biomethane potential of waste from 23 food markets, applying standardized compositional analysis and anaerobic digestion (AD) protocols. Results: Resu…

Pilot-scale experimental investigation of two-tank high-temperature thermal energy storage using liquid sodium ↗
High-temperature thermal energy storage (TES) is attracting increasing interest for industrial heat decarbonization, yet publicly reported experimental data for liquid-sodium TES remain scarce and include no cycle-resolved energy and exergy balance with propagated uncertainties at pilot scale. To address this gap, the Thermal Energy Storage Experimental Verification Test Loop (TESET), a 1.25-MWh liquid-sodium two-tank TES facility, was constructed and operated through a complete charging-standby-discharging cycle. During charging, a distinct thermocline developed in the hot tank despite the hi…

Algorithms for Coupled Electrified Transportation and Power Networks: From Grid Services to Real-World Deployment—A Systems-Oriented Review ↗
Electrified transport introduces loads whose location, timing, and flexibility depend on vehicle movement and user behavior. Its operation therefore links road networks, charging infrastructure, distribution grids, communication systems, and electricity markets. However, many studies examine these components separately or represent interactions through fixed demand profiles and simplified forecasts. This review examines electrified transportation and smart-grid analytics from a system-level perspective. It presents a five-layer framework covering transportation, charging, power, information, a…

Oscillation-Stability-Constrained Coordinated Optimal Operation of Grid-Forming Energy Storage for Dynamic Support ↗
The high penetration of grid-following (GFL) renewable energy integrated into weak grids may induce small-signal synchronous oscillations due to the coupling between phase-locked loop (PLL) dynamics and network impedance, thereby limiting renewable energy accommodation and the flexible operation of energy storage. To address the insufficient consideration of dynamic support feasibility in existing optimization methods with oscillation stability constraints, this paper proposes a coordinated optimal operation method for grid-forming (GFM) battery–supercapacitor hybrid energy storage systems (HE…

Role of Resonances in Total, Coulomb, and Nuclear Breakup Cross Sections for Light and Heavy Targets ↗
Abstract The influence of resonances on the breakup dynamics of the $${^6}$$ Li+ $$^{58}$$ Ni and $${^6}$$ Li+ $$^{208}$$ Pb systems is investigated using the continuum discretized coupled-channels (CDCC) method at incident energies above the Coulomb barrier. The calculated elastic scattering angular distributions are found to reproduce the available experimental data for both systems. The effects of resonances on the total, Coulomb, and nuclear breakup cross sections are analyzed as functions of scattering angle and incident energy. For the $${^6}$$ Li+ $$^{58}$$ Ni system, non-resonant break…

Experimental and simulation study of a multichannel immersion cooling system for hot spot mitigation in energy storage batteries ↗
The immersion battery thermal management (BTMS) system exhibits significant application potential in high-capacity energy storage systems. However, the inlet and outlet temperature effects of the coolant and the heat generation characteristics of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) introduce spatial temperature differences and hot spots within the energy storage system. To address these issues, this study proposes and optimizes a multichannel immersion cooling system for hot spot mitigation (MICS) BTMS. The heat dissipation performance of MICS BTMS under different operating conditions was experimenta…

Unified energy-flow framework for crack-induced modulation and multi-frequency damage identification in beams and plates ↗
Cracks fundamentally alter the pathways and intensity of vibration energy transfer within load-bearing structures, making accurate modeling of their modulation effects essential for structural health monitoring and dynamic energy analysis. This study develops a unified energy-flow framework that quantitatively links crack-induced local flexibility to energy transmission in beams and plates. Based on an extended Timoshenko theory and a two-dimensional line-spring representation, the model explicitly incorporates shear deformation, rotary inertia, and crack compliance, providing a comprehensive…

Thermal optimization of an air-cooling system of 2 kAh battery module for energy storage systems ↗
Effective thermal management is crucial for ensuring the safety and longevity of lithium-ion battery energy storage systems (ESSs) by preventing localized heat accumulation and thermal runaway. In this study, an optimized air-cooling strategy was investigated for a 2 kAh commercial ESS tray comprising twenty 100-Ah prismatic LiFePO 4 (LFP) cells. Cell-level heat generation during 1C charge–discharge cycles was experimentally quantified (5,000–7,500 W/m 3 , cycle-averaged) and utilized as the thermal boundary condition for a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model, which was…

Characterizing concrete lining damage in underground high-pressure hydrogen storage lined rock caverns with validated numerical models ↗
Large-scale underground high-pressure hydrogen storage is critical for low-carbon energy transition, while lined rock caverns (LRCs) are the core infrastructure for high-pressure hydrogen and compressed air energy storage. Severe tensile damage of concrete lining under 10–20 MPa internal hydrogen pressure threatens structural integrity and sealing safety. This study establishes a 3D refined steel-concrete-rock numerical model based on the Swedish Skallen LRC project, well validated by field hydraulic test data with relative error < 5.5%. The Concrete Damaged Plasticity (CDP) model is adopted t…

How to assess evidence about Energy
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
