Earlier sources: Energy

Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

706 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Impacts of 2025 Tariff War on Global Energy Security Dynamics ↗

This study examines how the 2025 tariff episode affects four main dimensions, the 4A’s of energy security: availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability. Our findings reveal how weaponized interdependence and the interplay between realism and institutionalism could reshape geopolitical dynamics; strain established supply chains and disrupt clean energy investments. We analyze the future global energy security landscape as influenced by changes in the 4A’s in China, the EU, and the U.S. following the tariff war.

Renewable energy communities in Austria: a mixed-methods assessment of challenges, opportunities and stakeholder perspectives ↗

Abstract Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) have become an important tool for promoting citizen participation in the energy transition and supporting the decentralization of energy systems. In Austria, RECs have experienced particularly strong growth since the introduction of the relevant legal framework. Despite this development, empirical evidence regarding the practical experiences of REC operators combined with perspectives from other key stakeholders remains limited. This study examines the challenges and opportunities associated with RECs in Austria using a sequential mixed-methods appr…

Laser heated emissive probe (LHEP) for plasma potential measurement in the ADITYA-U tokamak ↗

This article reports the first direct measurement of plasma potential, ϕ p l in the Last Closed Flux Surface (LCFS) of Ohmically heated Hydrogen plasma of ADITYA-U tokamak using Laser heated emissive probe (LHEP). Experiments have been conducted using the especially developed reciprocating diagnostic system with probe-holder assembly containing two identical planar disk-probes, one is heated with an IR laser (carbon-dioxide laser) and serves as an emissive probe, and the other is used as a cold Langmuir probe to facilitate statistical comparison of the measured parameters. The engineering desi…

Synergistic coordination competition and steric hindrance for crystallization control in CsPbBr3 perovskite solar cells ↗

The performance of solution-processed CsPbBr 3 perovskite solar cells is limited by uncontrolled crystallization kinetics. Herein, we introduced acetaminophen (APAP) as a dual-functional additive that combined competitive coordination and steric hindrance. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that the carbonyl group displaced dimethylformamide (DMF) from the Pb 2+ coordination shell, reducing the coordination number from 6.0 to 4.8, whereas the rigid phenyl ring restricted ion diffusion, decreasing the Pb 2+ diffusion coefficient from 0.039 to 0.003 Å 2 ·ps −1 . This synergy s…

CAMEO: Compressive Energy-Aware Multi-Task Deep Inference in Resource-Constrained Energy Harvesting Systems ↗

Multi-task Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) inference on Energy Harvesting (EH) devices has received limited attention, particularly in scenarios where energy availability fluctuates significantly. This poses substantial implementation challenges, especially in deploying and running inference under varying energy conditions while performing multiple correlated tasks. In this work, we present an end-to-end framework that enables multi-task inference to inherently conserve computation under dynamic energy conditions. To facilitate this adaptation in multi-task settings, we propose inter-task a…

Nanofluid-enhanced ice thermal energy storage: experimental performance, parametric effects, and a predictive correlation ↗

Ice thermal energy storage (ITES) systems offer an effective means of shifting peak cooling loads to off-peak periods, but their performance depends strongly on the thermophysical properties of the phase change material (PCM) and on key operating and geometric parameters. This study presents a systematic experimental investigation of the external icing and cold energy storage performance of Al 2 O 3 and multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanofluids as PCMs in a U-tube cold thermal energy storage unit. Nine primary conditions were examined across three coolant inlet temperatures (−5.5, −7.5,…

Fine-grained visual recognition of residential air conditioner units for building energy management ↗

Background Accurate identification of installed appliances is important for energy analytics, demand-side management, automated building inventories, and energy auditing. Residential air-conditioning systems are among the most energy-intensive household appliances, yet detailed information about installed units is often unavailable or difficult to collect at scale. This study investigates the recognition of residential air-conditioning indoor units directly from images as a fine-grained visual classification problem. Methods A curated dataset comprising 720 images from 216 air-conditioner manu…

Genetic Background of the Hetian Rose Inferred from SNPs in Single-Copy Nuclear Loci and Plastid Genomes ↗

Background/Objectives: The Hetian Rose (Rosa ‘Hetian’) is a locally important oil-bearing rose cultivar grown in Hetian, Xinjiang, China, but its genetic origin remains unclear. Methods: To clarify its genetic background, we sampled R. ‘Hetian’ together with 35 related Rosa species and cultivars and performed phylogenetic and genetic-structure analyses using 7478 SNPs in 1851 single-copy nuclear loci. We also reconstructed a plastid genome phylogeny to assess its maternal-lineage affinity. Results: In the nuclear SNP phylogeny, R. ‘Hetian’ was associated with European rose lineages rather than…

Regional heterogeneity in the relationship between temperature and household electricity consumption across rural South Africa ↗

In this study we examine the heterogeneous effects of temperature on household electricity consumption using combined hourly electricity consumption and temperature data across several rural areas in South Africa. We apply a panel data regression model controlling for temperature bin dummies to capture nonlinear temperature effects, as well as a set of fixed effects to capture the unobserved heterogeneity across households and over time. We find that the temperature–consumption relationship varies across geographical locations and is characterised predominantly by inverse J -shaped and inverse…

Cold-Welding and Over-Welding in Polyethylene Pipe Butt Fusion Joints: Formation Mechanisms, Structure–Property Degradation, and Emerging Microwave-Based Detection Strategies ↗

Polyethylene (PE) pipes are extensively used in gas- and water-distribution systems because of their corrosion resistance, toughness, and installation flexibility. However, the field reliability of PE pipeline systems often depends on the quality of butt fusion joints, whose integrity is highly sensitive to welding parameters and thermal history. Among process-induced defects, cold welding and over-welding are particularly critical because they are usually concealed, difficult to identify by visual inspection or short-term pressure testing, and strongly associated with long-term brittle failur…

How to assess evidence about Energy

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
