Earlier sources: Energy

Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

726 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Robust Range-Doppler Acoustic Feature Fusion for Unauthorised Personnel Crossing Detection on Underground Belt Conveyors ↗

Unauthorised personnel crossing underground belt conveyors poses a serious safety risk in coal mines. To improve the reliability of non-contact crossing detection under complex acoustic interference, this paper proposes an acoustic sensing method based on distance–velocity feature fusion. An adaptive acoustic interference suppression and echo enhancement method is first employed to mitigate multipath interference and suppress mechanical vibration and background noise. Time-of-flight (ToF) and Doppler information are then jointly extracted from FMCW acoustic echoes to obtain the temporal distan…

Enhancing lithium-ion battery fire suppression via xanthan gum-induced drainage delay of firefighting foam ↗

Lithium-ion battery (LIB) fires are difficult to suppress because thermal runaway can generate intense heat, combustible gases, and sustained reignition hazards. Here, we develop a xanthan gum (XG)-modified foam designed to improve foam stability and prolong surface cooling by delaying liquid drainage. Rheological and stability characterization demonstrate that XG significantly increases the foam yield stress and induces pronounced drainage delay, which is attributed to a polymer-jamming mechanism within the Plateau borders. Compared with commercial AFFF, the XG-modified foam exhibits improved…

Stretchable Efficient Organic Solar Cells via Semiconductor Plasticizing Strategy ↗

ABSTRACT Organic solar cells play a crucial role in wearable optoelectronic devices, but achieving both high efficiency and mechanical stretchability simultaneously remains challenging. Recently Shao's group reported a small molecule acceptor (BTP‐Si4) with both mechanical toughness and electrical properties, and the synergistic enhancement of power conversion efficiency (PCE >16%) and mechanical properties ( ε > 95%) was achieved for the first time through the optimized blending with the polymer donor PNTB6‐Cl. The universal law of molecular structure–compatibility–mechanical properties is sy…

A physics-informed method for joint forecasting of heat load and battery surface temperature in heating stations integrating photovoltaic generation, battery energy storage, and heat pumps ↗

Accurate joint forecasting of heat load and battery surface temperature is critical for reliable operation of heating stations that integrate photovoltaic generation, battery energy storage, and heat pumps in mountainous townships. These two targets are dynamically coupled because heat demand affects heat pump operation, while heat pump power consumption influences battery charging/discharging behavior and heat generation. However, existing methods either predict them independently or rely on data-driven multi-task learning, which ignores cross-system coupling and thermodynamic consistency. To…

    Experimentally informed drift-diffusion assessment of a lead-free four-terminal BaZr0.85Ti0.15S3/CZTSSe tandem solar cell ↗

A lead-free four-terminal tandem architecture is assessed by optically coupling a semi-transparent BaZr 0.85 Ti 0.15 S 3 chalcogenide-perovskite top sub-cell to a Cu 2 ZnSn(S 0.25 Se 0.75 ) 4 (CZTSSe) bottom sub-cell. The assessment includes a 33.93% idealized design target only as an upper bound because the assumed p-type, low-defect top absorber has not been demonstrated in a photovoltaic device. The device physics are evaluated with a one-dimensional drift-diffusion framework based on the coupled Poisson and electron/hole continuity equations. A finite-volume Python implementation using Sch…

Federated multi-agent deep reinforcement learning with digital twin-assisted cross-layer optimization for secure energy-aware massive MIMO-NOMA mobile edge computing systems ↗

The rapid growth of Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) and massive device connectivity in next-generation wireless networks has intensified the need for intelligent, secure, and energy-efficient resource management strategies. This paper proposes a novel Federated Multi-Agent Deep Reinforcement Learning (FMADRL) framework integrated with Digital Twin (DT) - assisted Cross-Layer Optimization for secure and energy-aware Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output–Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (MIMO-NOMA) MEC systems. The introduction highlights the limitations of existing centralized approaches, which suff…

Predictive modeling of urban residential power consumption: an explainable AI approach to the Kenyan prepaid grid ↗

Accurate electricity demand forecasting is important for utility planning and energy management, particularly in rapidly urbanizing regions where prepaid metering plays an increasingly important role in residential electricity service delivery. Because prepaid residential demand exhibits strong temporal persistence and distinct behavioural characteristics, forecasting approaches developed in other electricity-market settings may not transfer directly. This study develops an explainable forecasting framework for the Kenyan prepaid electricity sector to assess whether machine-learning complexity…

From parameter coupling to constraint-aware optimization: Geothermal organic flash cycles with reinjection and pinch-point limits ↗

Organic flash cycles (OFCs) improve temperature matching between the geothermal brine and the working fluids, but their practical design is constrained by site-dependent reinjection temperature and heat exchanger pinch limits. This study compares a basic OFC (BOFC) and a modified OFC (MOFC) to determine how the primary heat exchanger (PHE) outlet temperature, flash temperature, brine reinjection temperature, and PHE pinch-point temperature difference (PPTD) govern the feasible regions and thermo-economic performance. A segmented PHE model enforces the pinch constraints, a Sobol analysis quanti…

Thermodynamic Investigation of a Novel Hybrid Carnot Battery with Thermal Storage at Two Temperature Levels ↗

Energy storage is a critical step for the decarbonization of our society by exploiting renewable energies. Carnot batteries are promising technologies for storing excess electricity from renewables, but their efficiency is generally limited. The present work suggests a novel idea for enhancing the performance and flexibility of Carnot battery units. Specifically, a hybrid system that exploits both electricity and waste heat streams is suggested, incorporating two stages of latent thermal storage to increase flexibility. Moreover, the present system uses an innovative cascade high-temperature h…

Multi-Objective Evaluation of Recirculating Air-Conditioning Operation in University Dormitories: Thermal Comfort, CO2 Exposure, and Energy Use ↗

Previous studies have often focused on individual supply parameters or limited operating conditions, leaving the combined effects of supply air temperature, velocity, and angle insufficiently characterized in compact, high-density dormitory environments. To address this gap, this study evaluated the combined effects of air conditioner set point temperature, supply air velocity, and supply air angle on thermal conditions, local carbon dioxide (CO2) exposure, and electricity use in a four-person university dormitory in Wuhan, China. A three-factor full-factorial field experiment covered 36 opera…

How to assess evidence about Energy

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
