Earlier sources: Energy

Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

729 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: rising. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Multiscale feature fusion based CNN with feature ranking for satellite image classification ↗

Satellite image classification plays an important role in various applications like monitoring, surveillance, land cover planning, etc. Deep learning models with many learnable parameters face overfitting as model depth increases and have struggled to extract both fine details and broader patterns simultaneously. To overcome the aforementioned issues, an efficient CNN model of <0.23 million parameters is proposed, utilising the extraction of multiscale features across different CNN branches. After concatenating the two branches, a global average pooling (GAP) layer is added to mitigate overfit…

Triboelectric nanogenerators for wave energy harvesting and self-powered marine applications ↗

As the global energy transition intensifies, wave energy has attracted growing attention as a renewable resource owing to its broad distribution and high energy density. However, the widespread deployment of conventional wave energy converters (WECs) remains hindered by limited energy capture efficiency, mechanical complexity, and poor tolerance to harsh ocean environments. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), which rely on contact electrification and electrostatic induction, have emerged as one of the promising options for wave energy harvesting because of their simple structure, broad mater…

Energy infrastructure for AI data centers: A critical review of grid integration, techno-economic challenges, and future pathways ↗

Artificial intelligence (AI) workloads are rapidly changing the energy landscape of today's data centers, both in terms of total electricity usage and power density at the facility level. The ongoing deployment of large-scale AI training and inference infrastructure is further driving and increasing the demand for electrical reliability, cooling capacity, power quality, grid interconnection, and low-carbon electricity supply. These interdependent issues require coordinated consideration of energy-infrastructure planning that takes into consideration renewable energy generation and storage, ele…

Energy-efficient clustering and mobile sink routing in wireless sensor networks using quantum-inspired optimization and deep learning ↗

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) require energy-efficient clustering and adaptive routing to maintain reliable communication and prolong network lifetime under varying node density, initial energy, communication range, packet size, residual energy, routing distance, latency, and mobile-sink conditions. However, conventional clustering and routing methods generally optimize these aspects separately, resulting in inefficient energy distribution, increased routing overhead, unstable sink mobility, and reduced network sustainability. To address these limitations, this work proposes an integrated fr…

Semitransparent Organic Photovoltaic Achieving 12.98% Efficiency and 33.95% Average Visible Light Transmittance by Employing PPT‐3 With Large Bandgap and Narrow Photon Harvesting Range ↗

ABSTRACT A broad bandgap polymer PPT‐3 with optical bandgap of 2.25 eV and narrow photon harvesting range of 90 nm was deliberately selected to match with one narrow bandgap acceptor BTP‐eC9 for preparing semitransparent organic photovoltaics (ST‐OPVs). The optimal weight ratio of PPT‐3 to BTP‐eC9 is about 0.7:1 for well balancing the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 13.72% and the average visible light transmittance of active layer (AVTF) of 61.64%. The PCE of organic photovoltaics (OPVs) can be further increased from 13.72% to 14.73% by incorporating 0.05 wt.% TFB with high hole mobility…

An improved distributed electro-thermal coupled model for liquid-cooled battery pack based on thermal resistance network ↗

This study develops a computationally efficient distributed electro-thermal model for predicting voltage and temperature distributions in a liquid-cooled battery pack, with potential for real-time application. A pipe network model calculates the coolant flow distribution and local convective heat-transfer coefficients, while a three-dimensional thermal resistance network predicts the internal temperature field at low computational cost. The electrical and thermal models are coupled by updating cell resistance and polarization capacitance according to local cell temperature and state of charge…

Seismic control of two adjacent structures connected by an energy dissipation enhanced torsional eddy current damper: Optimum design and performance analysis ↗

As urban space becomes increasingly constrained, structural spacing is often minimized within code-permitted limits, making closely spaced adjacent structures increasingly common. Under earthquakes, however, large relative motions between adjacent structures can increase the potential risk of pounding when the available clearance is insufficient. To reduce the relative displacement associated with this potential risk, this study investigates the damping characteristics, optimal design, and seismic performance of an energy dissipation enhanced torsional eddy current damper (EDE-TECD) for adjace…

A Comprehensive Review of Battery State of Health Estimation: Methods, Challenges and Future Perspectives ↗

Lithium-ion battery state of health (SOH) cannot be measured directly and must be inferred from capacity, resistance, voltage, current, temperature, and usage history. This structured narrative review integrates degradation mechanisms with feature-based, model-based, data-driven, and physics-informed/hybrid estimation methods, and evaluates them against validation design, chemistry dependence, uncertainty, computational burden, and on-board feasibility. The literature was updated through targeted searches of Crossref-indexed publisher platforms, IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink/Nature,…

Cybersecurity as a precondition for the carbon–neutral grid: an investment framework for U.S. utility cybersecurity capital allocation ↗

Abstract The transition to a carbon–neutral electricity system depends on the widespread integration of distributed and inverter-based renewable resources. The U.S. Department of Energy and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation have identified these resources as increasing the grid's cybersecurity attack surface faster than current oversight can manage. Federal reviews have also found that guidance for assessing grid cybersecurity risk remains incomplete. In response, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has introduced a mandatory internal network monitoring standard and, for…

SOC-Aware Control of Microgrid Energy Storage for Off-Grid Electrification Using Kalman Filter Forecasting ↗

This paper presents a state-of-charge (SOC)-aware control strategy for standalone photovoltaic (PV)–energy storage system (ESS) microgrids to improve power reliability and operational efficiency in off-grid regions. The method integrates a Kalman Filter-based forecasting algorithm with real-time generator scheduling and battery management. By predicting short-term solar generation and load demand, the control scheme maintains SOC within safe limits and prevents both overcharge and deep discharge. Coordination between diesel generators and ESS units enhances efficiency by optimizing resource ut…

How to assess evidence about Energy

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
