Earlier sources: Energy
Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗657 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Deep underground energy storage solutions for data centers driven by artificial intelligence energy consumption ↗
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has driven an unprecedented surge in electricity consumption by data centers (DCs). Although renewable energy and ground-based energy storage technologies are being widely adopted, they still face inherent limitations in scalability, safety, structure and stability. This review proposes deep underground energy storage (DUES) as a new approach and discusses three specific technologies: hydrogen storage, compressed air energy storage, and flow batteries. Firstly, it is found that DUES can align with AI load curves. The three technologies span…

Multi-Market Joint Optimization and Cooperative Benefit Allocation for Wind–PV–Thermal–Storage Aggregators Considering Battery Degradation Cost ↗
High penetrations of wind and photovoltaic (PV) generation increase renewable-output uncertainty, balancing-market exposure, and the demand for flexible ancillary services. This paper proposes a multi-market stochastic optimization and cooperative benefit-allocation framework for a wind–PV–thermal–storage aggregator considering BESS degradation cost. A price-taking three-stage offering model is formulated for participation in the energy, spinning-reserve, frequency-regulation, peak-shaving, and balancing markets, with non-anticipative offer-curve construction, thermal-unit commitment, BESS int…

Whispered Speech Recognition Enhancement Using Teager Energy Operator with PLP Features ↗
Abstract Whispered speech poses persistent challenges for automatic speech recognition (ASR) owing to the absence of vocal fold vibration and the dominance of turbulent airflow excitation, which substantially alters spectral and temporal energy distributions. Conventional front-end features, such as Perceptual Linear Predictive Cepstral Coefficients (PLPCC), exhibit limited robustness in these conditions, particularly under cross-mode (mismatched) training–testing scenarios. To address this, we propose Teager Energy–based Perceptual Linear Predictive Cepstral Coefficients (TEPLPCC), a novel fe…

Renewable, Low-Carbon and Recovered Energy Integration in Carbon-Capture Processes ↗
Carbon capture could support deep decarbonisation only if the energy required for separation, regeneration, compression and refrigeration is supplied with low lifecycle emissions. This review approaches low-carbon and renewable energy integration into carbon-capture processes from the point of view of the technologies, integration problems and energy vectors encountered when entering the capture boundary: renewable heat (RH-CC), renewable electricity (RE-CC) and renewable or recovered cryogenic energy (CR-CC). For RH-CC, indirect solar heat (ISH) is the most retrofit-compatible route, whereas…

A Hybrid 3D CNN-GAT Framework with Entropy-Guided Adaptive Fusion for 3D Mineral Prospectivity Modeling ↗
Abstract Reliable three-dimensional (3D) mineral prospectivity modeling for concealed ore targeting remains challenging because voxel-based models emphasize local volumetric patterns, whereas nonlocal spatial relationships among sampled locations and prediction reliability are not jointly represented. To address this problem, this study developed a hybrid 3D CNN-graph attention network (GAT) framework for the Anqing skarn Cu district, eastern China. A ResNet3D-S&E branch extracts local structural patterns from 7 × 7 × 7 voxel patches, while a GATv2 branch represents coordinate-based neighborho…

XIST Self-regulates its association with THOC2 and the nuclear epigenetic machinery via miR-186 in Alzheimer’s disease ↗
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) exhibits a strong female bias, yet the underlying molecular basis remains poorly understood. This study identifies the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) XIST, the key mediator of X-chromosome inactivation (XCI), as a regulator of female-specific AD pathology. Single-nucleus RNA-seq (snRNA-seq) analyses from human AD cortex and in vitro AD models reveal elevated and abnormally cytoplasmic XIST, a feature not previously studied in neurodegeneration. Reduced EZH2 and histone H3 lysine-27 trimethylation (H3K27me3) levels in AD coupled with reduced colocalization of these protei…

Design, dynamic analysis, and optimization of a hybrid nuclear-storage power system for mobile applications ↗
With the rapid advancement of heat pipe-cooled reactor (HPR) technology, the integration of mobile nuclear power with energy storage offers a promising solution for energy supply in remote and off-grid scenarios. However, existing research predominantly focuses on stationary systems, lacking comprehensive investigation into the dynamic coupling of HPRs and hybrid storage in mobile environments. To address this gap, this paper proposes a novel hybrid nuclear-storage power system (HNSPS) integrating an HPR with a lithium-ion battery and supercapacitor for mobile applications. A high-fidelity sys…

Adaptive Low-Carbon Bioethanol Energy Management through Knowledge Graph–Digital Twin Frameworks ↗
Abstract Lignocellulosic bioethanol can reduce dependence on fossil liquid fuels, but its low-carbon performance is strongly constrained by process-energy demand. Energy use is shaped by coupled variations in feedstock quality, pretreatment response, fermentation performance, separation efficiency, equipment condition, and utility integration. Existing energy-balance, process-simulation, techno-economic, life-cycle, and data-driven studies have provided important methods for quantifying energy use, cost, emissions, and process bottlenecks, but their outputs often remain distributed across sepa…

Techno-economic evaluation of PV–vanadium redox flow battery systems for peak shaving in football stadiums under time-of-use tariffs ↗
This study presents a techno-economic evaluation of a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) and vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) system for peak shaving in a football stadium under time-of-use (TOU) tariffs with demand charges. Suphachalasai National Stadium in Thailand is used as a case study to investigate three operational strategies: (i) PV-only charging, (ii) grid-based off-peak charging, and (iii) hybrid PV–grid charging. Due to the temporal mismatch between daytime PV generation and evening stadium operation, a VRFB system is employed to enable energy shifting, peak shaving, and electricit…

Beyond optimisation: Revisiting energy demand management ↗
Energy demand reduction (EDR) in households has re-emerged as a central pillar of climate and energy transition strategies in Europe and beyond. While energy efficiency has long dominated policy frameworks, growing evidence shows that efficiency alone is insufficient to achieve absolute reductions in energy consumption due to persistent rebound effects, lock-in dynamics, and equity concerns. This paper presents a systematic literature review of 137 studies published between 2004 and 2024, selected through a PRISMA-guided process with expert validation. The review adopts a structured, question-…

How to assess evidence about Energy
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
