Earlier sources: Solar

This energy thread follows solar through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

87 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

    Insulating‐Passivating Interfaces for Narrow‐Bandgap Tin‐Lead Perovskites Enable High‐Photovoltage in Single‐ and Double‐Junction Solar Cells ↗

ABSTRACT Reducing non‐radiative charge‐carrier recombination at both p‐ and n‐side interfaces of the perovskite layer is crucial for realizing high‐voltage single‐ and multi‐junction solar cells. Herein, it is demonstrated that co‐depositing a mixture of ethane‐1,2‐diammonium iodide and different oleyl‐based amphiphiles renders a passivator‐insulator modification at the perovskite–C 60 interface, which suppresses n‐side contact losses in narrow‐bandgap (∼1.26 eV) Sn–Pb perovskite solar cells. Interestingly, a cationic oleyl‐based amphiphile introduced concurrently with the poly(3,4‐ethylenedio…

Effect of Wind Deflector Inclination Angle on Ballasted Solar Panels Mounting System ↗

Wind load can create high pressure on solar panels, resulting in either physical damage to the solar panels or a reduction in the efficiency of the panels due to the vibration of the panels. Investigations of wind load on solar panels usually focus on the roof-anchored mounting system. In this study, the use of a ballasted PV mounting system is investigated. Modern ballasted PV mounting systems are engineered with wind deflectors attached to the back side of the solar panel. This study investigates the effect of the wind deflector inclination angle along with the PV panel tilt angle by investi…

Geometry-Conditioned Conformal Calibration for Guaranteed False-Alarm Control in Uncertain Nonlinear Photovoltaic Systems ↗

A fault detector inside an active fault-tolerant loop drives an automatic action, so every false alarm commands a reconfiguration for a fault that is absent. In a photovoltaic (PV) plant the false-alarm rate has to be controlled within each operating regime, because the healthy uncertainty changes with the position of the sun as inter-row shading switches bypass diodes into conduction. Monitoring limits, including kernel-density ones, fix one threshold over the whole fault-free record, and conformal calibration guarantees the rate only on average across regimes. This work analyses 33 measured…

A selective coupling scheme for efficient hydrodynamic analysis of large-scale offshore floating photovoltaic arrays ↗

Offshore floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems are typically configured as large-scale arrays of numerous modular floaters, among which pronounced multi-body hydrodynamic interactions arise. Resolving these interactions poses a dilemma: a fully coupled analysis imposes a prohibitive computational burden, whereas completely neglecting the inter-module coupling discards essential near-field information. It is observed, however, that the radiation interaction, the most computationally demanding component of the multi-body coupling, weakens with increasing inter-module spacing and varies systematica…

Short-Term Photovoltaic Power Forecasting Based on a CEEMDAN-PE-ISSA-TCN-Transformer Framework ↗

This study proposes a CEEMDAN-PE-ISSA-TCN-Transformer framework for short-term photovoltaic (PV) power forecasting. Six pre-specified meteorological variables were retained, and their Pearson correlation coefficients with PV power were calculated using the training interval only. The power sequence was decomposed into high-frequency, medium-frequency, and low-frequency reconstructed components using CEEMDAN and permutation entropy (PE). A branch-specific residual TCN-self-attention forecasting network was constructed for each component, and an improved sparrow search algorithm (ISSA) was used…

A comprehensive validation of an electrical–thermal model for bifacial photovoltaic modules ↗

This study focuses on the representation of bifacial photovoltaic modules using electrical and thermal models. Various approaches in the literature propose modifications, such as incorporating rear-side irradiance, adjusting resistive parameters and diode currents, and adding series resistances. However, experimental evidence for evaluating these approaches under different operating conditions remains limited. Moreover, most studies concentrate on the maximum power point without analyzing the full IV curve, which can reveal shading-induced steps associated with rear-side frame shading in comme…

Fluorine‐Rich Pentafluorophenyl‐Substituted Electron‐Transport Interfacial Materials for Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells ↗

The strategic design of electron-transporting materials is crucial for improving charge extraction and stability in perovskite solar cells (PSCs); however, device performance is often limited by poor interfacial compatibility, which leads to inefficient charge transfer and reduced stability. To address these challenges, two new fluorinated electron-transport interfacial materials (ETIMs), namely TFP-Bp (1) and TFP-Pyr (2), were developed by incorporating hydrophobic fluorinated phenyl (FP) substituents onto biphenyl (Bp) and pyrene (Pyr) cores. Additionally, a non-fluorinated pyrene derivative…

Correlation between wind–wave–current loads and dynamic structural responses of a novel floating-tube photovoltaic array ↗

With the increasing deployment of offshore floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems in complex marine environments, understanding their aerodynamic and hydrodynamic characteristics under combined wind–wave–current conditions has become important for structural design and reliability assessment. In this study, a full-scale 5 × 5 modular floating-tube-type FPV array was established using a two-way coupled CFD–MBD (Computational Fluid Dynamics and Multi-Body Dynamics) method with an overset mesh technique. Two co-directional wind–wave–current conditions with different inflow directions (0° and 180°) w…

Post‐Deposition Photonic Curing Treatment for Improved Sb 2 Se 3 Photovoltaic Performance ↗

ABSTRACT The open circuit voltage (V OC ) deficit remains the major barrier to achieving high‐efficiency antimony selenide (Sb 2 Se 3 ) thin‐film solar cells, arising largely from non‐radiative recombination at bulk and interfacial defects. While considerable progress has been achieved through front‐interface engineering, scalable post‐deposition strategies for optimising the critical Sb 2 Se 3 back surface remain limited. Here, photonic curing (PC) is employed as a rapid millisecond‐scale processing technique for rear‐interface engineering in Sb 2 Se 3 photovoltaics. PC enhances the preferent…

Understanding Repulsion‐Governed Adsorption Mechanism for Efficient Surface Passivation in Blade‐Coated Perovskite Solar Cells ↗

ABSTRACT Surface passivation of perovskite thin‐films via adsorption of amine‐based derivatives plays an important role in minimizing nonradiative recombination. In this work, we developed a novel and efficient amine‐based surface passivation molecule, cystamine dihydrochloride (CH), which possesses a characteristic symmetric structure and exhibits an anomalous passivation mechanism. It is found that the electron‐rich sulfur atoms in central disulfide moiety of CH experience strong short‐range repulsion with surface iodides of perovskites. Consequently, contrary to the conventional attraction‐…

How to assess evidence about Solar

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
