Earlier sources: Solar

This energy thread follows solar through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

89 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Ag Incorporation Strategies in Chalcogenide Solar Cells: Formation Mechanisms and Pathways Toward High Efficiency ↗

ABSTRACT Silver (Ag) incorporation has proven to be an effective approach for enhancing photovoltaic energy generation by tailoring the properties of chalcogenide absorbers. In thin‐film photovoltaic technology, inorganic solar cells such as Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se) 2 , Cu 2 ZnSn(S,Se) 4 , Sb 2 (S,Se) 3, and other chalcogenide thin‐film absorbers offer significant potential due to their tunable bandgaps, strong light absorption, and compatibility with scalable manufacturing processes. This review focuses on recent advancements in Ag incorporation within the chalcogenide family, emphasizing device princ…

D18/Y7 Pseudo-bilayer organic solar cells: effect of donor concentration tuning ↗

Layer-by-layer (LBL) solution processing in organic solar cells (OSCs) is an effective strategy for controlling active-layer composition and charge-transport pathways compared with bulk-heterojunction devices. Sequential deposition of donor and acceptor layers in the LBL process has led to a remarkable improvement in power conversion efficiency ( PCE ). Here, we report an optimized bilayer OSC fabricated via LBL deposition strategy, based on the polymer donor D18 and the non-fullerene acceptor Y7, achieving a PCE of 15.7%. The systematically varied donor concentration influences active-layer t…

Universal performance improvements in CuSCN-based devices enabled by CuBr2 doping: Transistors, solar cells, and photodetectors ↗

Copper(I) thiocyanate (CuSCN) has become one of the standard hole-transport layers (HTLs) for an ever-expanding range of device applications. However, solution-processed CuSCN films suffer from hole-trapping SCN − vacancies (V SCN ) and limited p-type conductivity. Herein, we show that doping CuSCN with copper(II) bromide (CuBr 2 ) can deliver dual functions of defect-healing and p-doping, greatly improving the hole-transport properties. Applied as a p-channel in thin-film transistors, the field-effect hole mobility is increased by 8-fold up to 0.08 cm 2 V −1 s −1 while crucially keeping a low…

Partially replacing DMF with eco-friendly solvents in the fabrication of Sb2S3 photoactive layers for solar cells ↗

Antimony sulfide (Sb 2 S 3 ) is an inorganic compound consisting entirely of earth-abundant elements of low toxicity, low cost, and remarkable chemical and thermal stability, making it promising for next-generation photovoltaic technology, supercapacitors, photodetectors and thermoelectric devices. When employing homogeneous molecular ink-based processes, the choice of solvent is critical to ensure good precursor solubility and promote the formation of smooth and uniform films, which are key factors for improving efficiency in optoelectronic devices. Dimethylformamide (DMF) is the most utilize…

Facile fabrication and photovoltaic performance of lead-free Na2AgBiBr6 double perovskite photovoltaic cells ↗

As next-generation photovoltaic devices, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have captured a lot of focus because of their configurable optoelectronic characteristics, affordable solution processing costs and excellent power conversion efficiency. Novel, reasonable and ecologically conscious absorber materials are still necessary, as are simple and repetitive methods for creating devices, despite the field’s tremendous advancement. Na 2 AgBiBr 6 has been theoretically predicted as a promising lead-free light-absorbing material with favourable electronic and optical properties. However, to the best o…

Spectrally resolved internal heat generation and temperature prediction in multilayer photovoltaic modules under real operating conditions ↗

For a photovoltaic module operating in the field, the dynamic temperature profile through the multilayer structure is an important issue. It governs the real-time conversion efficiency of the active layer, determines its reliability, and impacts PV module service life. Yet, most thermal models describe internal heat generation through empirical equations or uniform volumetric sources, and initialize transient simulations with a uniform temperature distribution. This work develops a spectrally resolved optical-thermal model predicting the transient temperature distribution across a multilayer P…

A novel decoupled identification-and-tracking framework for photovoltaic global maximum power point tracking under complex shading scenarios ↗

Partial shading in photovoltaic (PV) arrays introduces nonlinearities that create multiple local maxima in the power–voltage curves, often causing conventional and metaheuristic trackers to converge on suboptimal peaks. To address this, this paper proposes a novel physics-informed hierarchical framework that decouples the tracking process into two distinct stages: global identification and localized tracking. In the identification phase, a distributed Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN) architecture estimates the maximum power point voltage of individual modules using only local electrical…

Numerical and experimental investigation of a solar pump operated by photovoltaic modules ↗

Abstract Background Traditionally, irrigation in agricultural fields relies on diesel-powered pumps, which are not only environmentally harmful but also impose a significant financial burden on farmers due to rising fuel costs. These elevated operational expenses often reduce profit margins, particularly for small-scale cultivators. To address these economic and ecological challenges, this study investigates the integration of a 5-kW photovoltaic-powered water pumping system as a sustainable alternative to diesel-based irrigation. Both numerical simulations and experimental validation were con…

Angle-robust photovoltaics via Mie resonance hybridization for stable power output in perovskite solar cells ↗

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted intensive research interest as a promising candidate for next-generation photovoltaic technologies, offering high power conversion efficiency ( PCE ) and low manufacturing cost. However, the practical energy yield of conventional planar PSCs is severely compromised by optical losses under varying solar incidence angles, leading to significant power fluctuations that undermine their viability for renewable energy generation. Solar tracking systems can mitigate this issue, but their high cost, mechanical complexity, and poor long-term reliability limi…

How to assess evidence about Solar

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
