Theoretical Efficiency Limits of Large Area Monolithic Solar Cells Composed of Metalized Transparent Electrodes Based on Optimized Laboratory Sized Test Cells ↗

The deposition of metal lines onto transparent conductive electrodes (TCEs) provides a path to high‐efficiency, large‐area monolithic submodule solar cells by reducing series resistance and improving charge collection. However, the metal lines introduce optical and geometric losses through shading and inactive regions, creating a trade‐off between resistive and optical performance. A device model is developed to quantify this trade‐off across multiple photovoltaic architectures, including organic and perovskite single‐junction devices and a range of tandem devices, to predict the maximum achie…

Degradation and Stabilization of Inverted Perovskite Solar Cells ↗

Inverted small-area perovskite solar cells fabricated in the laboratory have achieved a power conversion efficiency of 28%. Nevertheless, stability remains the key bottleneck. This review systematically analyses external stressors moisture, heat, light, oxygen, electric field, intrinsic ion migration and interfacial defects, alongside stabilization strategies including composition, passivation, 2D/3D heterojunctions, facets engineering, and encapsulation. Synergistic stressors produce nonlinear degradation; effective strategies must tackle multiple pathways simultaneously without impairing cha…

Deep Learning Benchmarks for Multi-Step Photovoltaic Power Forecasting: Comparative Assessment of GRU, LSTM, and BiLSTM Architectures ↗

Accurate photovoltaic (PV) power forecasting is essential for renewable energy integration, dynamic reserve allocation, and generation scheduling. Unpredicted generation ramps induce substantial voltage and frequency deviations on grid-connected distribution networks. This paper provides an objective benchmark among three deep learning architectures: Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and Bidirectional LSTM (BiLSTM). Telemetry spanning one year from an operational 175 kW plant in Reggane, Algeria, is evaluated across 72 h horizons (H=288 steps at 15 min resolution) usin…

Multifunctional Ionic Liquid Enabling Cation Homogenization and Lead Chelation for Pure‐Iodide Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells ↗

ABSTRACT Wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells (WBG‐PSCs) are essential for high‐efficiency tandem photovoltaics, yet conventional mixed‐halide formulations suffer from photoinduced halide segregation. While pure‐iodide WBG‐PSCs offer a fundamental solution, their development is hindered by the distinct crystallization kinetics of A‐site cations, which lead to severe compositional inhomogeneity, coupled with lead toxicity. Herein, we report a multifunctional ionic liquid, 1‐propylsulfonate‐3‐methylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate ([SO 3 H‐PMIm][OTf]), that addresses these challenges. The ad…

Improving High‐Temperature Operational Stability of Inverted Perovskite Solar Cells Through MXene Heat‐Dissipating Layers ↗

ABSTRACT Despite inverted perovskite solar cells (iPSCs) having reached power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of about 27% with long‐term stability at room temperature, their commercial devices must prevent heat‐induced performance degradation. In PSCs, 2D MXenes have been employed to enhance their long‐term stability at high temperatures; however, a deep understanding of the heat management mechanism of applying MXenes at interfaces is still lacking. Herein, we investigate the application of MeO‐2PACz‐functionalized MXenes at the hole transport layer (HTL) interface in iPSCs using MeO‐2PACz as…

Over 20% Efficiency in As–Cast Organic Solar Cells Enabled by Flory–Huggins Parameter Engineering ↗

ABSTRACT The realization of high–efficiency as–cast organic solar cells (OSCs) represents a key step toward simplified processing and scalable fabrication for commercialization. However, achieving high–performance as–cast devices remains challenging because it demands delicate balance between donor–acceptor self–aggregation and miscibility. Herein, we fabricate as–cast OSCs through Flory–Huggins parameter (χ) engineering that precisely regulates donor–acceptor miscibility during solution casting. The chloroform–carbon disulfide (CF:CS 2 ) mixed solvent, with tailored solubility and evaporation…

    Precursor‐Level Molecular Coupling Enables High‐Fill‐Factor Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells and 29.63% All‐Perovskite Tandems ↗

ABSTRACT Wide‐bandgap (WBG) perovskites with a ∼1.78 eV bandgap are essential for monolithic all‐perovskite tandem cells, yet their efficiency and stability are limited by complex precursor chemistry, uncontrolled crystallization, defect formation, and photoinduced halide segregation. Here, we report 4‐(3‐Carbamimidoylguanidino)benzoic acid hydrochloride (CGBA) as a precursor‐level regulator for Cs/formamidinium (CsFA)‐based Br‐rich WBG perovskites. Through dynamic associations with lead–halide species and organic cations, CGBA modifies the local precursor environment and alters the stage‐depe…

    AVA‐MAPbI 3 Cap‐and‐Root Islands on Mesoporous TiO 2 Toward Neutral‐Color Semi‐Transparent Perovskite Solar Cells in Agrivoltaics ↗

Semi‐transparent perovskite solar cells offer a route to agrivoltaics, combining electricity generation with controlled light transmission for crop cultivation. However, conventional perovskite films preferentially absorb blue photons, producing redshifted transmitted spectra that can affect plant photophysiology. This work presents quasi‐neutral‐color semi‐transparent perovskite films based on AVA‐MAPbI 3 islands rooted in mesoporous TiO 2 (mp‐TiO 2 ). This architecture localizes absorption within the islands while ensuring spectrally balanced, visually neutral transmitted light and efficient…

Flexible and Transparent Ga 2 O 3 /NiO Photovoltaic Diode for Full‐Wave Rectification in Wearable Optoelectronics ↗

ABSTRACT Flexible and transparent electronic components are critical for next‐generation wearable optoelectronic devices, which require lightweight, flexible, and optically transparent power solutions. Wearable systems, including smart textiles, flexible displays, and bioelectronics, commonly operate using direct current (DC). While transparent photovoltaics can directly generate DC power under illumination, triboelectric and piezoelectric nanogenerators produce alternating current (AC), requiring efficient AC‐to‐DC conversion for practical use. However, conventional silicon‐based rectifiers a…

Li-TFA modulated Li-Sb dual-cation synergy enables efficient and mechanically stable flexible CZTSSe Solar Cells ↗

Flexible kesterite Cu 2 ZnSn(S,Se) 4 (CZTSSe) thin film solar cells inherently suffer from defect-dominated carrier recombination and poor mechanical flexibility durability. Herein, a Li-TFA-assisted Li-Sb co-doping strategy is proposed for the regulation of various defects. Sb pre-doping acts as a lattice buffer to offset Li-induced lattice expansion. Shallow defects get passivated by Li; meanwhile, Sb functions to eliminate deep recombination centers correlated with Sn. At the optimal 0.08 mol/L Li doping concentration, film residual compressive stress drops from −6.42 GPa to −2.19 GPa, the…
