Earlier sources: Solar

This energy thread follows solar through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

91 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Rapid reliability assessment and mechanistic insight of Cu@Ag-metallized SHJ solar cells under acetic acid vapor aging ↗

Low-temperature Ag-coated Cu (Cu@Ag) paste has been widely adopted as a standard electrode material for silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cells, driven primarily by escalating cost-reduction pressure and growing demands for manufacturing sustainability through reduced reliance on scarce silver resources. However, the long-term behavior of such metallization under damp-heat (DH) conditions requires closer examination, as acidic species from encapsulant hydrolysis could potentially affect electrode integrity. Herein, the degradation behavior of low-temperature Cu@Ag paste-metallized SHJ solar c…

Degradation of photovoltaic modules at medium voltage with different types of encapsulants ↗

Enhancing the electrical efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) systems, particularly by increasing voltage, improves their performance and cost-effectiveness, while lowering the levelized cost of energy (LCOE). However, as PV modules transition to medium voltage applications (|U| > 1500 V DC ), potential induced degradation (PID) has emerged as a significant challenge in power plant PV systems. At medium voltages, the electrical properties of encapsulants, particularly the conductivity, can differ from those at low voltages. In this study, we investigate the evolution of encapsulant conductivity und…

Surface optimized TiS2: Perovskite composites for the fabrication of solar cells ↗

This paper describes surface enhancement of perovskite/CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 via TiS 2 Nanosheets/NSs by fabricating TiS 2 : perovskite composites/TPCs (i.e., 0, 2, 4, and 6 mg/ml, respectively) and, furthermore, their application as photoactive layers in the fabrication of solar devices. In this context, the chemical route approach is used to fabricate TiS 2 , CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 , and TPCs. The fabrication of such composites is confirmed using various characterization techniques. Moreover, as-fabricated TPCs are employed in the fabrication of solar devices. The results evidently show that the insertio…

Descriptor‐Guided Computational Screening of Non‐Fullerene Acceptor Cores for Organic Solar Cells ↗

ABSTRACT Non‐fullerene acceptors (NFAs) have propelled organic photovoltaic efficiencies toward 21%, yet their modular acceptor–donor–acceptor chemistry creates a vast combinatorial design space that calls for efficient prescreening. Here we establish a computation‐driven screening workflow and apply it to over 4000 optimized A–B–(D–S)–B–A NFA molecules assembled from experimentally reported building blocks. Using a sequential set of device‐relevant criteria – suppressed dipole moment, a target quadrupole for efficient charge separation, trap‐free electron transport, sufficient interfacial ene…

Energy‐Level Engineering with Co‐Sensitization of Organic Molecules on NiO x for Sn‐Based Perovskite Solar Cells ↗

    ABSTRACT A cooperative self‐assembly of organic small molecules made of diester/diacid‐bithiophene units [BT 2D ‐CE ( 1 ), BT 2D ‐CA ( 2 )] with hexylpyridine‐ or phosphonic acid‐functionalized dithienopyrrole units [DTP 2D ‐Py ( 3 ), DTP 2D ‐PA ( 4 )] was induced atop Nickel Oxide (NiO x ) hole‐transport‐layer for lead‐free tin‐based perovskite solar cells. The pyridine functionality of DTP 2D ‐Py ( 3 ) in conjunction with the carboxyl group of BT 2D ‐CA ( 2 ) altered the NiO x /Perovskite interfacial energetics and accelerates selective hole extraction by passivating the buried interfacial d…

    Interface Engineering Toward High‐Efficiency CIAS Thin‐Film Solar Cells Using a Cadmium‐Free CuAlSe 2 Buffer Layer: A SCAPS‐1D Investigation ↗

Cu(In,Al)Se 2 (CIAS)‐based thin‐film solar cells remain largely unexplored regarding buffer layer and interface engineering. This work reports a SCAPS‐1D investigation of CuAlSe 2 (CASe) as a cadmium‐free alternative to CdS, starting from a validated Glass/Mo/CIAS/CdS/ZnO/ITO/(Ni/Al)/MgF 2 model reproducing experimental results. Replacing CdS with CASe maintains constant short‐circuit current density while improving band alignment at the buffer/absorber interface, reducing interfacial recombination and raising open‐circuit voltage ( V OC ), without additional parasitic absorption losses. A par…

Fully solution-processed AgBiS2 thin film solar cells with carbon electrodes via stoichiometry-mediated crystal growth ↗

AgBiS 2 thin-film solar cells have emerged as promising photovoltaic materials owing to their non-toxic composition, ideal bandgap, and high absorption coefficient. However, state-of-the-art devices typically rely on evaporated Au or Ag back electrodes, which requires high-vacuum deposition processing and raise manufacturing cost. Here, we introduce a low-temperature, solution-processed carbon paste as a vacuum-free back-contact electrode for AgBiS 2 solar cells. To simultaneously overcome the poor crystallinity of AgBiS 2 thin-film, we systematically tune the Ag/Bi ratio in the molecular prec…

Performance Optimization of Lead-Free Cs2AgBiI6 Solar Cells with the LBSO Electron Transport Layer: A SCAPS-1D Simulation Study ↗

Abstract Lead toxicity in conventional halide perovskites has long been a concern for practical photovoltaic deployment, and Cs2AgBiI6 double perovskites gained significant attention as promising lead-free alternatives due to their high carrier mobility, suitable optoelectronic characteristics, and relatively good chemical stability. In this work, density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to investigate the electronic properties of the Cs2AgBiI6 absorber, while SCAPS-1D simulations were independently employed to optimize the photovoltaic performance of the proposed device arc…

How to assess evidence about Solar

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
