THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Web platforms
Web platforms provide the browser capabilities, frameworks, and server systems used to deliver websites and applications. Follow platform changes, rendering, deployment, and practical web engineering.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗288 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Show HN: Symmetric encrypted chat (text, file, audio, video) in browser ↗
https://chat.hesamian.com https://github.com/amir734jj/symmetric-crypto-chat-room I started working on this many years ago and incrementally improved this over-time. The idea is if two people choose a (channel + encryption key) then they should be able to communicate with each other (text, file, audio, video) fully encrypted all in your browser. The "server" just relays the data. It doesn't know what is being send/received. If you join the channe…

Beyond the Surface: Towards Feature-Driven Fuzzing on the Chrome Browser ↗
The Chrome browser constitutes a complex software system responsible for processing and rendering diverse web content. Despite extensive testing and security measures implemented by the vendor and the community, the inherent complexity of this system makes the complete elimination of vulnerabilities practically infeasible. Existing DOM and API fuzzing techniques inadequately address the expanded attack surface introduced by Chrome features and extensions, resulting in a substantial number of elusive vulnerabilities remaining undetected. This paper presents Feazzer, an efficient feature-driven…

SymWeb: Feedback-Driven Context Exploration and Context-Aware Symbolic Execution for Browser-Embedded WebAssembly Vulnerability Detection ↗
Browser-deployed WebAssembly (Wasm) modules often inherit memory-safety bugs from C and C++-style code, yet exploiting, and even reaching, these bugs in the Web threat model is fundamentally context-dependent. JavaScript (JS) controls the exported-call schedule and constructs the Wasm entry state, including arguments, globals, and linear-memory layouts, from attacker-influenced web inputs. This makes both Wasm-only analysis, which assumes static initial states, and prior browser-based testing such as Wemby ineffective. Wemby generates a fixed, Wasm-agnostic context pool and then only mutates W…

Show HN: Stem splitting and audio conversion running in-browser with Rust/WASM ↗
I got tired of all the ugly "free" audio conversion tools littered with ads so I built my own that runs entirely on your machine in the browser. It does stem separation (vocals/drums/bass/other), format conversion, BPM detection and speed/pitch changes. Nothing is uploaded (there is no api) + the models runs client-side. Stack is Rust compiled to WASM, mediabunny for conversion + WebGPU. Getting a separation model to run at usable speed in the br…

Show HN: Gryphana – an IDE that runs in the browser ↗
Hi HN! We're a two-person team building Gryphana. It's a full IDE (VS Code-based editor, file management, code execution with a live console) that runs entirely in the browser - nothing to install, works from any device, and lets you pick from different OS and toolchain setups. This is a rough alpha. Editor, file management, and running code on Linux with a live console work. Not yet there: GUI streaming, Windows environments, GitHub integration,…

How to assess evidence about Web platforms
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
