THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Software
Software turns computational ideas into tools and services. This region follows open source projects, developer tools, programming languages, databases, operating systems, and web and cloud platforms.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗2065 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Tell HN: ChatGPT on macOS grants local computer access to cloud account ↗
I recently started a conversation on ChatGPT for macOS in "Work" mode with the "In the Cloud" execution option enabled. I was expecting this to run on a cloud VM, just like "Work" conversations started on chatgpt.com When I continued it in the browser (e.g. via right clicking it on macOS and then selecting "Open on chatgpt.com"), I was pretty shocked to learn that it actually had (and still has) access to my local file system. I could just prompt…

Show HN: Parsimony – an open-source benchmark for how much code AI models add ↗
Existing benchmarks measure solve rate and token output/cost, but don't punish excess code, which makes a codebase harder to work with in the long term. I wanted to measure this since it matters most for long-term projects. Method: it takes the patches that benchmarks already publish (DeepSWE, SWE-bench Verified, SWE-bench Live) and counts "coding units": syntax elements like statements, calls, names and literals. I didn't use lines of code, so c…

Show HN: Tern – Native macOS SSH Client in Rust/GPUI (76 MB vs. Tabby's 580 MB) ↗
On my day to day work i mostly use termius and tabby as multi project ssh tool with vault, somehow most of the features i use are just vault and password manager, and they are bulky, takes about 500mb ram for such simple program, and termius wants paid plan just to sync the vault. There are free tools but their ux is not at that level. So i built my own simple ssh client with a little bit of my taste added, it has vault, password manager, repo sy…

How to assess evidence about Software
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
