THE INTERNET IS THINKING

Earlier sources: Software

Software turns computational ideas into tools and services. This region follows open source projects, developer tools, programming languages, databases, operating systems, and web and cloud platforms.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

2059 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Choosing an energy-efficient software architecture for building system diagnostic support ↗

Around 30\% of global energy expenditure can be attributed to the building sector, where a large portion of energy-consumption could be avoided by repairing existing faults. Fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) software addresses this issue; however, its creation and operation also have an environmental impact. The magnitude of this impact is influenced by the diagnosis architecture, as different architectures and methods have different energy demands. Yet, simply considering the energy consumed by the software itself is not sufficient to assess its overall environmental impact, since the diagn…

SoK: Semantic Decision Engines in Network Control Loops ↗

A semantic decision engine such as Jev can return a valid answer and still miss a network deadline, select an infeasible action or leave the service unverified. We systematize 139 paper families by decision interface, execution path and check ownership. Fifty families claim that their engine fits a control loop or time budget, but only four support the claim with matched measurement. Across all 139, four report deadline attainment. The gap concentrates where the decision has no deterministic computation step. Those 72 families make 22 of the claims, none supported, and name a coverage owner in…

Show HN: RGP Interface for a JavaScript Debugger ↗

Walk your code (literally walk!) with an RPG interface to debug your code. Doors guide you though if's and loops to know where to go next. This is an early prototype, some doors might act funky. There's a working time travel debugger, try going back to the start!

Show HN: Carve – An open-source Mac agent with a choice of models ↗

Hi HN, I built and open-sourced Carve to handle repetitive work in windows you already use. Choose the window in any Mac app where you want it to work, press Option-D, and watch it do what you want. For example, in the demo I show an example CRM and Carve entering contact details and drafting a follow up. It also has the ability to annotate and explain items on the screen. This runs with your own API keys, and can even support OpenRouter, though…

How to assess evidence about Software

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
