THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Software
Software turns computational ideas into tools and services. This region follows open source projects, developer tools, programming languages, databases, operating systems, and web and cloud platforms.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗2046 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

System Modeling and Performance Analysis of Cloud VirtualMachine Allocation Strategy with Entry Control and Reservation Mechanism ↗
With the rapid development of the Internet, the number of requests in cloud computing is increasing rapidly. However, cloud resources are limited, and the surge in demand will lead to performance degradation in cloud services. To improve the performance of cloud services, we propose a cloud virtual machine allocation strategy based on reservation mechanism and entry control. In the presented strategy, a dynamic probability threshold is adopted to suppress the interference of low-priority requests on high-priority requests, while reserved virtual machines and cache resources are deployed to gua…

SyzDiversity: Diversity-Guided Linux Kernel Fuzzing ↗
While coverage-guided kernel fuzzers have been proposed to uncover Linux kernel vulnerabilities, their code coverage and bug-finding capability are limited due to the lack of seed diversity, which is caused by the compounding effect of initial seed generation, seed scheduling, and seed mutation. To address this limitation, we propose a diversity-guided kernel fuzzer SyzDiversity. Specifically, to mitigate overvaluation of early seeds, it leverages proof-of-concept (PoC) seeds derived from real-world vulnerabilities as initial seeds, and further partitions these seeds into multiple communities.…

Formalizing the Linux eBPF Core ISA: A Mechanized Operational Semantics and Its Real-World Applications ↗
This paper presents a mechanized formal semantics for the Linux eBPF instruction set architecture (ISA). We develop a small-step semantics in Rocq that faithfully formalizes all 153 sequential in-kernel instructions of the eBPF ISA. The semantics is fully executable and has been validated against the official Linux eBPF test suite. This extensive testing revealed inconsistencies in our original formalization. Using this semantics, we have designed, implemented, and verified the soundness of the bit-level abstract domain employed by the Linux eBPF verifier. Our semantics also complements the ex…

Cloud–Edge Collaborative Energy Management System: Theory and Practical Experience ↗
Rapid growth in renewable generation and electricity-market participation is increasing the number and autonomy of grid-connected resources, challenging conventional centralized energy management systems (EMSs). This paper proposes a cloud–edge collaborative EMS comprising a cloud brain, heterogeneous edge nodes, and a cloud–edge collaboration platform (CCP). The cloud retains wide-area security, market clearing, reserve coordination, and risk-limited dispatch, whereas each edge retains private device models and fast local control. A time-coupled flexibility envelope exposes only aggregate exc…

When Do Staging Annotations Preserve Semantics? Mechanizing Typed Semantics-Preserving Multi-stage Programming with Let-Insertion ↗
Multi-stage programming with quotations has long provided a powerful way to generate and manipulate code. By treating code as data, programmers can write multi-stage programs in which earlier stages produce specialized code from inputs available at generation time. Modern typed multi-stage languages (e.g., MetaML, MetaOCaml, Template Haskell, and Scala 3) adopt quotation/splicing constructs while enforcing the well-typedness of generated code. However, manipulating code fragments syntactically can subtly change evaluation order, leading to semantic discrepancies between a staged program and it…

Cloud-deployable deep learning for smartphone-based body fluid cytology: a multi-architecture evaluation of YOLO and RT-DETR models ↗
Abstract Accurate cytological evaluation of body fluid specimens is essential for diagnosing inflammatory and malignant conditions, yet manual interpretation remains labor-intensive and subject to inter-observer variability. This study developed and deployed a smartphone-based deep learning framework for multi-class body fluid cell classification integrating object detection, ROI-based classification, and explainable artificial intelligence (XAI). Three hundred Wright–Giemsa–stained cytospin slides, one per patient, were used to generate 7149 smartphone-acquired images, which were annotated an…

Promoting agricultural water saving through cross–industry water rights trading in China: An effects analysis based on bi–level multi–objective programming ↗
Since the early 2000s, China has been promoting and implementing water markets and water rights (WRs) trading systems to address its intensifying water shortage problem. While existing studies have primarily examined the effects of WRs trading on individual water users, limited attention has been paid to the interdependent effects of cross–industry WRs trading on multiple water users. This study investigates the mechanisms of cross–industry WRs trading and quantifies its effects on agricultural water–saving and economic benefits in China. A bi–level multi–objective programming model is develop…

Diaminopropane dihydroiodide passivation enables semitransparent perovskite modules for large-area four-terminal tandem solar cells ↗
Scaling inverted perovskite solar cells from efficient small-area devices to semitransparent modules remains challenging, particularly for mid-bandgap absorbers used in tandem photovoltaics. Here, we investigate 1,3-diaminopropane dihydroiodide (PDADI) as an interfacial passivator for 1.61 eV tri-cation perovskites solar cells and further evaluate its applicability to semitransparent module scaling. PDADI treatment improves the perovskite film morphology, reduces the trap density, prolongs the carrier lifetime and optimizes the perovskite/PC61BM interfacial energy alignment, thereby suppressin…

BackSmith: A Systematic Approach to Testing Compiler Backends ↗
Compiler backends are critical for translating high-level code into efficient machine instructions, yet they remain relatively underexplored in compiler testing. Effective backend testing requires programs that expose low-level backend behaviors, but such features are difficult to generate and are frequently eliminated by earlier optimization passes. As a result, existing testing approaches often fail to adequately exercise backend behaviors and are therefore less effective at uncovering backend defects. We present BackSmith, a black-box approach for testing compiler backends across compilers…

The η-approximation method in granular differentiable fuzzy multiobjective programming ↗
ABSTRACT In recent years, there has been a growing interest in modelling real-world extremum problems, processes and systems by optimization problems with uncertain data. One of the approaches for analyzing and solving various classes of mathematical programming problems that are imprecisely defined, because they contain uncertain data, is fuzzy optimization. In this work, we apply the η-approximation method derived by Antczak [ 3 ] in the deterministic smooth case to solve the considered gr -differentiable vector fuzzy optimization problem in which all fuzzy numbers involved are represented b…

How to assess evidence about Software
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
