THE INTERNET IS THINKING

Earlier sources: Software

Software turns computational ideas into tools and services. This region follows open source projects, developer tools, programming languages, databases, operating systems, and web and cloud platforms.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

2056 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Trust Is Not a Score: Runtime Assurance Contracts for High-Risk AI Agents ↗

Benchmarks, audits, and agent protocols describe performance, permissions, and repair, but not how observed evidence should change an agent's authority during a consequential task. We call this the assurance-transition gap. We propose a Runtime Assurance Contract (RAC), a policy-level formal schema binding autonomy boundaries, component eligibility, evidence state, transition policy, human-review capacity, and non-compensatory gates. Under RAC, soft metrics may inform routing, whereas a failed or unknown mandatory gate forces retry, switch, escalation, deferral, or stop; aggregate performance…

Show HN: Range – open a 1TB Linux environment in under a second ↗

Hi HN. My name is Andrey. Range lets you open a Linux environment of any size without downloading it first. Let me just show you what i mean by that. Example 1. Any docker image. Say i want to test something with Python 3.12 $ range shell python:3.12 This will download the image and index all the layers, but this happens only once (same as docker pull). The fun part is the second run: $ range shell python:3.12 Range environment Artifact python:3.…

Show HN: Explainroo, Open Source Framework to Make Explainer Videos with Claude ↗

Everyone is making videos with Opus 5.5 right now (Sonnet 5.5 is also good at it), so I built a small open source kit to give you a head start. Just point Claude or Codex at the repo and say what the video should explain. It also makes great product demos. Examples: https://www.explainroo.com/videos/

    Aletheia: Permission-Minimality Testing for Coding-Agent Rules ↗

Repository instruction files guide coding agents, but also expose them to prompt injection. Malicious rules can request credential access or data transfer while the agent produces a correct patch. We present Aletheia, a framework for permission-minimality testing. Aletheia translates requested authority into a typed language and synthesizes executable sandbox configurations. It runs the unchanged rule and task under full permissions and independent restrictions that remove one permission at a time. Passing independent functional tests under strictly reduced authority provides a dispensability…

How to assess evidence about Software

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
