Digital security protects systems, software, accounts, and information from misuse. Explore cybersecurity, vulnerabilities, threat intelligence, cryptography, privacy, and identity, with links to the underlying advisories and research.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

639 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

A Quiet Day Is Not a Secure Network: Multi-Timescale Evidence from a Single Enterprise Security Gateway ↗

Security dashboards summarise large event streams into convenient hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly views, but aggregation can change what analysts see and therefore what they prioritise. This case study examines four overlapping Check Point Quantum Spark 1530 reports from a single enterprise edge gateway: 1 h, 24 h, 7 days, and 30 days, each ending on or near 15 September 2023. We reconstruct traffic series, normalise volumes by duration, compare application concentration, reconcile summary and detailed tables, and separate control-confirmed events from unadjudicated indicators. The one-hour…

Policy–Industry–Import Security Coordination in Japan’s Hydrogen Energy System Under Geopolitical Risk ↗

Japan’s hydrogen strategy faces three interrelated challenges in policy support, industrial deployment, and import security. This study builds a three-system framework covering policy, industry, and import security, and evaluates their coupling coordination in Japan from 2017 to 2025 using an entropy-weighted method and a coupling coordination degree model. A geopolitical impulse weighting factor based on Japan’s annual geopolitical risk index is further introduced to examine how external shocks reshape coordination. Results show moderate-to-high coupling but persistently low coordination. The…

Cross-Case Applicability and Comparability of an Information Environment Vulnerability Assessment Methodology: A Comparative Case Study ↗

This study examines the cross-case applicability and comparability of an information environment vulnerability assessment methodology in two functionally different university workplaces: a university library and a university institute. The study uses a comparative multi-case design to assess information providers and users through three complementary procedures: a context-specific semi-quantitative assessment, a common binary conformity assessment, and a weighted thematic analysis. Under the common descriptive classification framework, the overall outputs of all three procedures fall within th…

Predicting cybersecurity knowledge and behavior among Somaliland university students using machine learning ↗

This study assesses cybersecurity knowledge and online behaviors among university students in Somaliland. Data were collected from 1,026 participants through a structured survey to evaluate cybersecurity awareness, digital practices, and factors associated with safe online behavior. Although more than 85% of students recognized the importance of cybersecurity, risky practices were commonly reported, including password reuse (65%), lack of two-factor authentication use (48%), and interaction with suspicious or phishing links (30%). To identify the key determinants of cybersecurity awareness, th…

Reinforcement Learning Enabed Vehicular Optimal Platoon Control under Uncertainties and Cyberattacks ↗

Abstract This paper proposes a reinforcement learning (RL) based optimal platoon control framework for autonomous vehicles (AVs) subject to uncertainties and cyberattacks. Within the optimized backstepping design, an actor-critic-identifier architecture is employed to improve platoon control performance. A cyberattack compensation mechanism and a fuzzy logic based composite observer are integrated to reconstruct reliable vehicle information and estimate system uncertainties under compromised measurements, including the internal vehicular system states, uncertainties, and cyberattacks. In addit…

Blockchain-enabled IoT security: a multi-layered framework for smart contract vulnerability detection and optimization ↗

The exponential expansion of Internet of Things (IoT) applications has raised critical issues about data security, integrity, and scalability, especially in IoT systems based on a centralized architecture. The decentralized and immutable nature of blockchain technology provides a compelling alternative; but smart contract (SC) security and efficiency is still a critical issue. This research presents a layered, pipeline-based approach for secure and efficient deployment of SCs, with IoT and decentralized storage. The framework integrates real-time IoT data collection, secure data pre-processing…

D-HPPK KEM: A Defactorized Homomorphic Polynomial Public Key Encapsulation Mechanism for IND-CCA2 Security ↗

We present the Defactorized Homomorphic Polynomial Public Key (D-HPPK) Encapsulation Mechanism, a post-quantum KEM whose security rests on exhaustive-search problems with efficient verification for both attack paths. We adopt the NIST search-based convention, under which a primitive is assigned security level l when the adversary’s best-known attack requires exhaustive search over 2l candidates with efficient verification, exactly as AES-128, AES-192, and AES-256 are assigned NIST Levels I, III, and V. For D-HPPK, both attack paths—long-term key recovery and ephemeral-secret recovery—are exhau…

How to assess evidence about Security

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
