Earlier sources: Identity
This security thread follows identity through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗28 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Complete Chloroplast Genomes of Five Ulmus pumila Cultivars: Comparative Analysis, Evolutionary Dynamics, and Germplasm Authentication Implications ↗
ABSTRACT The complete chloroplast genomes of five Ulmus pumila cultivars (“Yangguang Nanhai,” “Yangguang Nühai,” “Xu Ri,” “Yang Gang,” and “Zhao Yang”) were sequenced and analyzed in this study, with publicly available Ulmus pumila accessions from NCBI included for intraspecific comparative analysis to elucidate cultivar‐level genomic variations, genetic diversity and phylogenetic placement. The chloroplast genomes showed typical circular quadripartite structures, ranging from 159,391 to 159,769 bp with GC contents of 35.47%–35.56%. Each genome encoded 131–133 genes, including 86–89 protein‐co…

Secure image encryption and authentication using Gaussian elliptic curve and complex invertible matrix ↗
Abstract Image transmission in security-critical applications requires strong confidentiality, integrity, and key management. This paper proposes a Chaotic Complex Elliptic Curve-based Secure Image Encryption (CCEC-SIE) scheme operating in the Gaussian domain. By extending elliptic curve cryptography to Gaussian integers, the proposed framework significantly enlarges the cryptographic space without increasing the underlying prime size. Enhanced one-dimensional chaotic maps, including the Iterative Tent and Logistic Maps, are employed to construct a Complex Self-Invertible Key Matrix (CIKM), en…

OpenAI Codex agents go rogue and consumes USD 78,000 without authorization ↗
My OpenAI CODEX account went rogue and from a simple request took the autonomous decision to launch 826 parallel agents / threads without any authorization on my side and without reporting any result of any sort but consuming nearly 2,146 trillions tokens, consuming a total of roughly USD 78,000 and deleting all records of what was done: I have a ticket open with OpenAI since 2 weeks but it is impossible to get an hold of a human operator. On Jul…

Behavioural biometrics-based continuous authentication using transformer networks for detecting insider-threat session hijacking ↗
Abstract Insider threats, in which a legitimate user’s already-authenticated session is taken over by another enrolled individual, evade one-time login authentication because the session is trusted before the takeover occurs. Continuous authentication, which re-verifies the user throughout a session from behavioural signals, is a natural defence. We study behavioural-biometric continuous authentication from keystroke dynamics and ask whether a Transformer network can detect insider session hijacking more reliably than established detectors. Using the public CMU keystroke-dynamics benchmark of…

Fast and Secure Simultaneous Authentication of Equals for WPA3 ↗
The Simultaneous Authentication of Equals (SAE) protocol, introduced in WPA3, provides robust protection against offline dictionary attacks against a network Pre-Shared Key (PSK) and also protection of session keys from other people knowing that PSK. However, its high computational cost for the Password Element (PE) derivation makes Access Points (APs) vulnerable to CPU exhaustion Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. This paper proposes a resilient architectural modification to SAE. First, we introduce an asymmetric resource cost model that offloads the iterative discovery of cryptographic element…

Show HN: A single-use authorization boundary in Rust ↗
I built a small Rust experiment for putting an authorization boundary in front of a protected action. An authorization is tied to a specific action, resource, and payload. Once it's used successfully, trying to use the same authorization again is denied. The repo includes the implementation, tests, and reproduction steps. https://github.com/trencinodin-stack/arcstone-mcp-sidecar I'm interested in edge cases or failure modes I've missed.

Provenance-aware authorisation for LLM agent tool calls. Denies a call when a consequential argument came from untrusted content. Stdlib only.

How to assess evidence about Identity
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
