THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Markets
Markets connect capital, goods, services, and labor. This region follows economic developments, public markets, venture capital, fintech, and commerce. Source attention does not constitute financial advice or forecast investment returns.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗265 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

$L_0$ Feature Selection via Monte Carlo Tree Search in High-Dimensional Financial Regression ↗
Feature selection is a central problem in high-dimensional financial regression, where large numbers of engineered variables and strong correlations among predictors reduce model stability and interpretability. $L_1$ regularization (Lasso) is widely used for sparse regression, but its shrinkage can be restrictive when informative signals are spread across correlated variables. Exact sparse regression avoids this shrinkage but requires solving a combinatorial optimization problem that is computationally difficult and is typically fit to minimize in-sample rather than out-of-sample error. This p…

MLP-Initialized Reinforcement Learning for Exit Timing in SPX Short-Straddle Portfolios ↗
This paper studies exit timing for SPX short-straddle portfolios using a two-stage supervised and reinforcement-learning framework. Historical episodes first generate ex-post optimal hold/exit labels for training a multilayer perceptron (MLP) using only contemporaneously available state variables at deployment. The trained MLP then initializes reinforcement-learning actors that are fine-tuned with a risk-aware trading reward. Out-of-sample evaluation over 2024-2026 shows that the supervised MLP substantially outperforms passive holding and representative fixed-time and profit-and-loss-based ex…

FOMO: FLEX Options and Market Outcomes ↗
FLEX options are customized exchange-traded contracts allowing participants to choose nonstandard strikes, expirations, exercise styles, and settlement terms while retaining central clearing. We investigate whether single-name FLEX activity leaves measurable footprints in regular listed-option markets and underlying equities. Using a linked dataset of FLEX consolidations, daily open-interest files, listed-option chains, equity returns, and corporate actions over 250 trading days (March 2025-March 2026) across 41 underlyings and 53 event dates, we document three primary empirical findings: (1)…

The Financing of Debt Relief: Intermediary Liquidity and the Value of Borrower Information ↗
I study how intermediary liquidity affects mortgage resolution using 1.9 million Ginnie Mae buyout options from 2019 to 2022. When funding markets froze in 2020, nonbank issuers repurchased far fewer delinquent loans than depositories servicing loans in the same pools and, within the same issuer and month, shifted repurchases away from large balances, the loans that require the most cash. About $19 billion of repurchases were delayed, and most were completed later. A model of rationing by value per dollar of cash explains this pattern and shows that borrower information is most valuable when f…

How to assess evidence about Markets
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
