THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Markets
Markets connect capital, goods, services, and labor. This region follows economic developments, public markets, venture capital, fintech, and commerce. Source attention does not constitute financial advice or forecast investment returns.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗249 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: rising. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

When Hedging Changes the Payoff: Option Replication with Price Impact and Execution Costs ↗
Hedging a derivative by trading the underlying asset changes the payoff that the hedging intended to replicate. We study this phenomenon when trading generates price impact and execution costs. In a binomial model, we characterize replication through a fixed-point equation. In continuous time, we derive a nonlinear pricing PDE whose implicit terminal condition captures the nature of the moving target problem of the hedger. For monotone convex Lipschitz payoffs (such as calls and puts) we establish exact replication under midpoint execution costs. Numerical experiments illustrate: (i) how price…

Show HN: Trade Lord, inspired by Drug Lord 2, quick daily leaderboard game ↗
Buy low in one city, travel, sell high. 15 days. Everyone plays the same market each day, and everyone ends up on the leaderboard. I used to play Drug Lord 2 nearly 20 years ago and loved it! I forgot about it until recently when I accidentally stumbled across it again. I'm a software engineer but also wanted to learn how to use Claude Code, so I challenged myself to make a similar game that was more family friendly. It's a web game designed to b…

Introducing the CZAR Loss: A Tailored Objective Function for Financial Log-Return Predictions ↗
In quantitative finance, standard regression losses are misaligned with the economics of return prediction. As the conditional mean of financial log-returns is close to zero, symmetric losses such as the mean squared and mean absolute errors make the constant zero forecast a near-optimal solution, penalizing models with genuine but noisy directional skill. This applies both during training, where predictions shrink toward zero, and during evaluation, where trivial forecasters can lead loss-based rankings. Under a Gaussian linear prediction model, we show that all symmetric monotonic losses sha…

FinAutoRubric: Expert-Guided Automatic Rubric Generation for Evaluating Financial Research Agents ↗
Evaluating finance research agents requires rubrics that reflect expert standards and fix the values correct as of an information cutoff. Expert-reviewed finance benchmarks rely on fixed, per-item rubrics, which are costly to extend and cannot encode each institution's own standard. In FinAutoRubric, experts specify reusable evaluation guidance, while agents and code carry out query-specific rubric generation, review, and validation. This expert guidance governs every agent, as prompts and as rules that code enforces, and a Task Bank of reusable criteria carries it across tasks. In long-horizo…

From Cointegration to Out-of-Sample Failure: A Pairs-Trading Case Study on PEP-KO ↗
This paper examines whether a cointegration-based pairs trading strategy between PepsiCo and The Coca-Cola Company is statistically robust and economically exploitable. We first test for cointegration and estimate the spread's mean-reversion dynamics over 2013-2018, then hold these statistical parameters fixed and optimise a threshold-based trading strategy in-sample over 2018-2023. Robustness is assessed through transaction-cost and parameter sensitivity tests, walk-forward validation, and Adjusted and Deflated Sharpe Ratios. The strategy is then evaluated out-of-sample from 2023 to the prese…

Retrieval-Augmented Diffusion Modeling for Stochastic Discount Factor Portfolios ↗
In this work, we study portfolio optimization under the stochastic discount factor (SDF) framework by learning market state representations that capture the underlying risk structures of financial data. This is challenging due to several factors: financial markets exhibit non-stationary dynamics with shifting regimes, multimodal inputs such as price and news data often contain stochastic noise, and existing diffusion-based approaches, while effective for modeling stochastic dynamics, rely on assumptions such as isotropic Gaussian noise that fail to capture the state-dependent nature of financi…

How to assess evidence about Markets
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
