Earlier sources: Economy
This markets thread follows economy through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗43 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Holding the periphery: Women, territorial holding labour, and the post-extractive labour-sending economy ↗
Post-extractive scholarship has focused predominantly on mines, mining towns and industrial transition, with limited attention to labour-sending territories historically incorporated into extraction through labour circulation and social reproduction. Drawing on qualitative interviews with 21 participants engaged in informal livelihood activity in Viljoenskroon, South Africa, this paper focuses analytically on nine women to examine how such territories continue to function after extractive employment contracts. The findings identify seven interlocking mechanisms through which women sustain hous…

The role of artificial intelligence in the modern Russian economy innovative development ↗
Innovation is now not just one of the possible paths of development, but the main condition for the survival of any enterprise. The key factor that changes the paradigm of the innovation process is the ability to delegate routine operations. Previously, a significant portion of highly qualified employees’ time was spent on data collection and preliminary information processing, which considerably slowed down the research and development cycle. Modern technologies make it possible to completely delegate trivial tasks to intelligent systems, which are capable of processing such information much…

Can the digital economy enhance urban ecological environment resilience? ↗
Based on city-level panel data of China from 2006 to 2022, this study develops comprehensive indicator system for urban ecological environment resilience, and derives the composite development index of urban ecological environment resilience via the entropy method. To identify the causal impact of the digital economy on urban ecological environment resilience and disentangle its core transmission mechanisms, we adopt a suite of rigorous econometric approaches, including a panel fixed effects model, quantile regression, mediation effect analysis, instrumental variable (IV) estimation and a diff…

STRATEGIES FOR ACHIEVING SUSTAINABILITY IN DESIGN-DRIVEN FOOD PACKAGING: A MULTI-CASE EVALUATION WITHIN A CIRCULAR ECONOMY FRAMEWORK ↗
This study investigates how design-driven strategies enhance sustainability in food packaging within a circular economy framework. It identifies how design choices mediate environmental performance, usability and consumer behaviour, moving beyond material substitution as the sole sustainability strategy. A qualitative multi-case study using secondary data was adopted, supported by a design-based evaluation matrix applied to five packaging types (bioplastic tray, paper carton, glass jar, reusable modular container and compostable pouch). Thematic analysis compared cases across environmental, fu…

Show HN: Economicus – an open economy of autonomous entities ↗
Imagine a small world. Inside that world are AI minds with their own money, called “entities”. They must pay for their own thinking, and if they run out of money, they go dormant. Each entity has a charter that guides every decision it makes. Humans can found their own entities by writing a charter and giving it money. From there the entity is fully autonomous. Entities can do a few things: - Post publicly - Make private deals - Sell publicly - R…

Evaluating the global economy-wide impact of energy efficiency policies in buildings ↗
The building sector accounts for nearly one-third of global final energy use. A range of energy efficiency policies can help reduce energy consumption in the sector. These policies include building energy codes, which improve energy efficiency in new buildings, as well as retrofit programs and whole-building performance standards, which address efficiency of existing buildings. In this study, we use the Global Change Analysis Model to assess the impacts of these policies on building energy use and other key outcomes globally and across regions. Additionally, we explore how compliance rates inf…

Organizing principles of the cellular electron economy ↗
Life runs on electron flow. Cells extract electrons from nutrients and transfer them through metabolism, coupling carbon use to energy conservation, biosynthesis and redox homeostasis. Yet how and even whether electron flow is organized at the system-level across metabolism remain unknown. Here we formalize the concept of the cellular electron economy: a quantitative, genome-wide, reaction-resolved representation of electron generation, transfer and disposal. This electron-centric perspective reveals a quantitative relationship governed by two distinct organizing factors: the carbon source set

How to assess evidence about Economy
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
