Earlier sources: Energy
Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗732 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Salt hydrate composites for thermochemical heat storage: A comprehensive review ↗
Salt hydrate-based thermochemical energy storage (STCES) represents a promising pathway toward a sustainable energy future. The direct utilization of pure salt hydrates is severely hampered by inherent drawbacks, including deliquescence, particle agglomeration, poor cycle stability, and inferior heat-mass transfer capability, which lead to rapid capacity fading and poor system-level performance. This review provides a comprehensive assessment of the composite salt-in-porous-matrix (CSPM) strategy, which has proven to be one of the most widely investigated and promising routes to overcome these…

Firefly: A Low-Resolution Thermal Trigger for Gated Sensor Fusion in Human–Robot Collaborative Manufacturing ↗
Automated guided vehicles and mobile robots are present on many Intelligent Manufacturing factory floors. Approximately 7.0 million U.S. workers also work on those same floors. During 2011 through 2017, forklifts caused 614 worker fatalities. Currently, no commercially available collision-avoidance sensor can manage the complexity associated with working within a plant. Therefore, fusing multiple modalities allows a system designer to gate the more expensive ones behind some minimal signal that indicates all systems should be active. Such minimal signals are expected to include body heat that…

Bridging energy and proteome allocation models allows prediction of the resource cost of traits across environments ↗
Many traits divert resources from reproduction and are costly due to the physiological trade-offs organisms face. These traits might require the allocation of different resources, e.g., energy expenditure or production of macromolecules, and it is unclear how their costs can be compared given their different units. Moreover, the effect of environmental conditions and genetic background on the cost of traits is not well understood. Two different frameworks have been proposed to quantify the resource costs of traits, focusing on either energy allocation or proteome allocation. These frameworks i…

Thermal–electrohydrodynamic interaction in nano-encapsulated PCM suspensions for hydrogen-energy thermal management under periodic charge injection ↗
This study numerically investigates transient thermal–electrohydrodynamic (EHD) convection of a dielectric nano-encapsulated phase change material (NEPCM) suspension within a thermal management module in hydrogen energy systems. The module consists of a square enclosure containing a centrally heated circular cylinder, while the NEPCM suspension provides convective heat removal and latent-heat buffering. The cylinder is subjected to periodic charge injection together with sinusoidal thermal excitation. The governing equations for fluid flow, heat transfer, electric charge transport, and electri…

Semi-analytical investigation of fin configuration effects on PCM solidification in cylindrical thermal energy storage systems ↗
Thermal energy storage systems (TES) employing phase change materials (PCMs) are often constrained by the inherently low thermal conductivity of PCMs, resulting in slow heat transfer and prolonged charging and discharging processes. This study investigates the influence of fin configuration and fin number on the solidification behavior of PCMs in TES systems using a semi-analytical model based on Green’s function and the Megerlin method. The proposed framework predicts the evolution of the solidification front under different thermal boundary conditions while providing a computationally effici…

Similar Instruments, Different Outcomes: Implementation Capacity and Renewable Energy Delivery in Kuwait and the UAE ↗
Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) share a GCC context, strong solar resources, financing capacity, and renewable energy ambitions, yet their deployment trajectories differ markedly. Treating renewable energy deployment as an infrastructure delivery problem, this study examines this variation through a structured comparison of legal, procurement, project, and statistical records updated through August 2026. The empirical evidence base comprises 41 unique records, including 13 used for the institutional classifications and 28 used to document contextual conditions, deployment measures, a…

Experimental and Numerical Study of a Laboratory-Scale Salt-Based Thermal Energy Storage (TES) System Focusing on Latent Heat ↗
Molten salt-based thermal energy storage (TES) systems are widely deployed for large-scale energy storage; however, they currently utilize only sensible heat, limiting their energy density and overall efficiency. The utilization of latent heat in molten salts has the potential to significantly increase the extractable energy, but its practical implementation remains largely unexplored due to challenges related to solidification control, thermal stresses, and structural integrity. Addressing this gap is essential for improving the performance and economic viability of TES systems in renewable e…

Fluorine‐Rich Pentafluorophenyl‐Substituted Electron‐Transport Interfacial Materials for Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells ↗
The strategic design of electron-transporting materials is crucial for improving charge extraction and stability in perovskite solar cells (PSCs); however, device performance is often limited by poor interfacial compatibility, which leads to inefficient charge transfer and reduced stability. To address these challenges, two new fluorinated electron-transport interfacial materials (ETIMs), namely TFP-Bp (1) and TFP-Pyr (2), were developed by incorporating hydrophobic fluorinated phenyl (FP) substituents onto biphenyl (Bp) and pyrene (Pyr) cores. Additionally, a non-fluorinated pyrene derivative…

Dual-Domain Fusion for Small-Object SAR Ship Detection in Complex Scenes ↗
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) ship detection is essential for maritime surveillance, yet coherent speckle can obscure tiny offshore vessels, while high-response coastal structures can produce target-like responses. Repeated downsampling further weakens sparse vessel signatures, whereas a separate high-resolution prediction head increases dense prediction costs. We propose a dual-domain detector that embeds spatial–frequency encoding, multiscale refinement, and high-resolution feature transfer within the backbone–neck–pyramid representation. Scharr-derived boundary cues are coupled with learne…

Regulatory framework towards fusion energy in Germany: preliminary results and open issues ↗
Abstract The paper introduces preliminary results of the German project for regulation of future fusion facilities (ReFus) which was started in January 2025. It presents the existing German regulatory framework and how it was applied for the licensing of the stellarator Wendelstein 7-X. The analysis demonstrates that the German radiation protection law and its subsequent rules and regulations are already generally applicable to fusion. However, certain adaptations and clarifications are recommended to simplify the licensing process, especially with respect to a graded safety approach consideri…

How to assess evidence about Energy
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
