Earlier sources: Energy

Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

717 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Pulsed Research Reactors and the Development of a Large-Scale Uranium–Graphite Pulsed Reactor Concept Based on Experience Gained with IGR ↗

For the safety assessment of existing reactor systems and the development of advanced nuclear technologies, it is essential to have experimental data on how nuclear fuel and structural materials respond under rapid transient conditions . Pulsed research reactors provide unique capabilities for reproducing short-duration power excursions with high neutron fluxes and rapid energy deposition. Many existing pulsed facilities were commissioned several decades ago and are approaching the limits of their experimental capabilities, highlighting the need for next-generation pulsed reactors. This paper…

Grid-connected solar photovoltaic-supported dynamic voltage restoration for enhanced voltage stability and power quality ↗

Grid-connected PV systems are important in modern power systems as they enhance voltage stability, improve power quality (PQ), and support renewable energy integration under varying solar generation conditions. However, optimizing voltage restorers remains challenging due to reactive power compensation requirements, system stability issues during PV variations, and diverse grid conditions and load profiles. To overcome this problem, this work proposes a grid-connected solar photovoltaic fed quasi-impedance source driven dynamic voltage restorer employing optimized switching strategy for enhanc…

Data-driven enhanced first-principles modeling for centrifugal compressor performance prediction in compressed air energy storage systems ↗

Centrifugal compressors are critical to compressed air energy storage (CAES) systems, where accurate and rapid performance prediction is essential for charge–discharge cycle design, off-design analysis, and control strategy optimization. Existing first-principles one-dimensional (1D) models still have some issues, such as accuracy degradation at high rotational speeds and the absence of efficiency prediction. To improve pressure ratio prediction, this paper proposes a methodology that couples an improved pressure ratio model with a machine-learning-based efficiency surrogate. Meanwhile, four p…

Geometric optimization of passive liquid-immersion housing to mitigate thermal runaway propagation in high energy density battery modules ↗

With the rapid growth of the micro-mobility and electric vehicle (EV) markets, high-density packaging of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and suppression of thermal runaway propagation (TRP) have become critical challenges. Although conventional indirect liquid-immersion cooling offers effective thermal management and TRP suppression, it suffers from a volumetric energy-density penalty due to the required fluid space. In this study, we propose a geometrically optimized liquid-immersion housing battery module that maintains a high energy density above 430 Wh/L while improving thermal management and…

Numerical and experimental evaluation of cooling strategies for prismatic li-ion battery modules designed for containerised energy storage ↗

This study compares liquid-cooling, air-cooling, and hybrid thermal management strategies for 50 Ah LiFePO 4 prismatic battery modules intended for containerised energy storage systems (ESSs). A three-dimensional CFD model developed in ANSYS Fluent and validated experimentally was employed to investigate the modules' thermal behaviour under dynamic charge-discharge conditions. The study introduces and evaluates a sandwich-type liquid-cooling cold plate incorporating serpentine copper channels embedded in a PET core and enclosed by aluminium sheets, combined with L-shaped aluminium heat-spreadi…

Bi-Level Coordinated Optimal Operation of a Multi-Microgrid System with Shared Energy Storage ↗

To improve sustainable operation of multi-microgrid (MMG) systems with high penetration of renewable energy, this paper proposes a bi-level coordinated optimization method based on Stackelberg and cooperative games to address wind–photovoltaic output fluctuations, stakeholder coordination, and low-carbon dispatch under shared energy storage (SES). At the upper level, the shared energy storage operator (SESO) acts as the leader and the MMG coalition as the follower, forming a Stackelberg model for time-of-use service pricing and coordinated response. At the lower level, the coalition dispatch i…

A descriptor-driven framework for SiNx:H in crystalline silicon solar cells: linking bonding configuration to device performance and reliability ↗

Hydrogenated silicon nitride (SiN x :H) is a cornerstone material in crystalline silicon photovoltaics, simultaneously providing antireflection functionality and defect passivation. However, these roles are typically treated independently, limiting predictive optimization, particularly in advanced architectures such as TOPCon, bifacial, and silicon-based tandem solar cells. This review synthesizes the literature on plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposited (PECVD) SiN x :H into a descriptor-driven framework that unifies deposition conditions, bonding configuration, material descriptors, and dev…

Local structural modulation via sulfate substitution for high-performance NFPP-based sodium-ion battery cathode ↗

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are compelling low-cost candidates for large-scale energy storage. Nevertheless, NASICON-type Na 4 Fe 3 (PO 4 ) 2 P 2 O 7 (NFPP) polyanionic cathodes suffer from intrinsically inferior electronic conductivity and sluggish Na + diffusion, severely restricting their practical deployment. Herein, a sulfate anion (SO 4 2− ) lattice modulation strategy is implemented to construct modified NFPP electrodes. The incorporated SO 4 2− induces structural rearrangement and electronic redistribution, synergistically accelerating Na + migration, stabilizing electrode interface, a…

From free molecules to grafted fillers: covalent urea sites for trapping anions in lithium battery electrolytes ↗

Composite polymer electrolytes often use an inorganic filler to improve lithium transport, but native silica fillers interact with the electrolyte anion only weakly. This study tests whether grafting a urea group onto the silica surface can strengthen that interaction: through directional hydrogen bonding, urea can trap the bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (FSI) anion and pull it away from lithium, freeing the cation for transport. Molecular dynamics simulations and density functional theory calculations are used to evaluate this urea-grafted filler in a poly(trimethylene carbonate)-LiFSI electrolyte.…

    A Unified Scalar-Field Mechanism for the H0, S8 and Evolving Dark-Energy Tensions ↗

I investigate whether one minimally coupled canonical scalar field can generate, in a single continuous cosmological history, the correlated changes in the sound horizon, late-time expansion, and structure growth that are relevant to the H0, evolving dark-energy, and S8 tensions. The potential consists of a localized positive feature on an exponential tail. In contrast with a purely qualitative treatment, I derive the exact first and second derivatives of the complete potential, determine their extremum without invoking a bump-dominated approximation, and evolve the full scalar equations numer…

How to assess evidence about Energy

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
