Finite-frequency Control and Energy Optimization of Nonlinear Wind Turbines Using T–s Fuzzy Models ↗

This paper proposes an integrated fuzzy control and energy management strategy for nonlinear wind energy systems by combining the generalized Kalman–Yakubovich–Popov (gKYP) lemma with Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy modeling. The nonlinear dynamics of the wind turbine are represented by a T–S fuzzy model, which enables the design of a finite-frequency Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI)-based controller. An observer-based structure incorporating a fuzzy Sliding Mode Observer (SMO) is developed to estimate unmeasured states and improve robustness against disturbances and modeling uncertainties. The contro…

Improved RBS characterization of TiN nuclear targets using a thick Ti interlayer ↗

Accurate Ti/N atomic ratios are required for cross-section measurements of the 14 N ( p , γ ) 15 O reaction. We fabricated TiN/Ti/Si reference samples and corresponding TiN/Ti/Ta reaction targets by filtered cathodic vacuum arc deposition. A thick Ti interlayer shifted the Si substrate signal to lower energies, creating a low-background window for nitrogen analysis. Rutherford backscattering spectra measured with a 3.15 MeV 7 Li 2 + beam were analysed using SIMNRA. The fitted areal densities of the Ti interlayer and TiN layer were 5118.742 × 1 0 15 and 951 × 1 0 15 atoms cm −2 , corresponding…

PS-CAHE: Protocol-Semantic and Confusion-Pair-Aware Fusion for UAV Intrusion Detection ↗

Flow-based intrusion detection in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks can underuse protocol relationships and model complementarity. The Protocol-Semantic and Confusion-Pair-Aware Heterogeneous Ensemble (PS-CAHE) combines semantic features, training-only confusion-pair selection and two fusion weights. On 113,952 deduplicated UAVIDS-2025 flows, PS-CAHE achieved 95.58% Macro-F1 and 93.88% Matthews correlation coefficient on the fixed holdout. The full pipeline improved Macro-F1 by 0.83 percentage points over Original XGBoost; the pair-aware increment over global out-of-fold (OOF) weighting w…

Producing biogas from energy cover crops in France: Potential production and agro-environmental impacts ↗

Anaerobic digestion produces renewable energy such as biogas to replace fossil one. Cover crops are an interesting resource without competing for food production while producing some ecosystem services. We assessed the potential of cover crops to produce energy in France at high resolution and their agro-environmental impacts. We used a modelling chain of four models to simulate the cropping systems and the biogas plant. We designed and simulated over 30 years the baseline and three scenarios: (i) multi-service cover crops, (ii) energy cover crop insertion and (iii) energy cover crop extension…

Coupled aero-structural-electrical modeling and sensitivity analysis of a bladeless resonant wind turbine with hybrid energy harvesting ↗

Abstract Bladeless resonant wind turbines are an alternative technology for small-scale wind energy harvesting because they convert vortex-induced structural oscillations into electrical power without rotating blades. However, their efficiency is strongly affected by the coupled interaction between wake dynamics, structural vibration and energy harvesting. This work presents a reduced-order aero-structural-electrical model for a bladeless resonant wind turbine with hybrid electromagnetic–piezoelectric energy harvesting. The wake dynamics are represented using a Van der Pol-type oscillator, whi…

Low-energy laser peening induces surface microtopography and enhances early osteoblastic cell attachment on commercially pure titanium ↗

Abstract Low-energy laser peening (LELP) was applied to commercially pure titanium (JIS Class 2) immersed in water using a Q-switched Nd: YAG microchip laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm, a pulse energy of 2.4 mJ, a pulse duration of 0.43 ns and a nominal spot diameter of 0.20 mm. MC3T3-E1 murine pre-osteoblastic cells were cultured on the LELP-treated specimens to evaluate early osteoblastic cell responses. LELP formed periodic microtopographic patterns with peaks reflecting the laser-scanning sequence and pulse density. As the laser pulse density increased from 100 to 400 /mm 2 , the arithme…

SCARO: Scenario-Conditioned Risk Optimization for Day-Ahead Battery Energy Storage Scheduling ↗

Day-ahead battery arbitrage requires assessing the return and downside risk of complete charge–discharge cycles. We propose Scenario-Conditioned Risk Optimization (SCARO), which corrects supply and demand forecasts and maps jointly resampled whole-day residuals to price paths. An exact planner identifies adverse outcomes separately for each feasible schedule and combines mean and lower-tail profit to select an operating cycle or no operation. A 182-day rolling evaluation in the Western Inner Mongolia real-time electricity market compares SCARO with 21 baselines for a battery with zero initial…
