Earlier sources: Energy
Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗736 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Moisture-Dependent Compressive Behavior of Wheat Kernels: Implications for Energy-Efficient and Resource-Conscious Grain Processing ↗
Improving grain size-reduction efficiency requires settings adapted to raw-material properties. This study examined how moisture, crosshead speed, imposed displacement, cultivar, and wheat quality group affect individual-kernel compression. Four cultivars representing bread and ‘other’ quality groups were tested at nominal moisture contents of 14–20% (wet basis), crosshead speeds of 5–30 mm min−1, and displacements of 1.8–2.2 mm. Maximum force, crushing energy, and apparent cracking were determined. Crosshead speed did not significantly affect maximum force and had a marginal effect on crushin…

Time-Series Anomaly Detection in Off-Grid Solar-Powered Security Systems Using Deep Learning Approaches ↗
Reliable operation of off-grid solar-powered security systems is essential for maintaining uninterrupted surveillance and monitoring in remote locations. This study proposes a fully unsupervised deep learning framework for detecting energy-related anomalies in multivariate solar-system time-series data before they affect system operation. To this end, seven deep learning-based anomaly detection models, namely, LSTM, GRU, Transformer Autoencoder, CNN-LSTM, CNN-GRU, LSTM Autoencoder, and GRU Autoencoder, were developed and evaluated using both a real-world solar energy dataset and an open-source…

Effect of wave-induced motion on the energy harvesting performance of a floating solar-powered AUV ↗
This paper proposes a novel concept of a solar-powered autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) featuring a foldable solar wing panel. The design enables energy harvesting during surface floating operations. We investigate the time-varying energy harvesting characteristics due to the combined effects of wave-induced motion and submergence depth. A real-time power calculation model based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solutions is established, and its accuracy is verified using sea trials. The results show that the AUV oscillates periodically around an equilibrium pitch angle of approximately…

A conserved archaeal protein with evolutionary links to bacterial ribosome hibernation and eukaryotic energy sensing ↗
Ribosome hibernation helps cells survive stress by reversibly silencing translation and preserving ribosomal complexes. Although well characterized in bacteria and eukaryotes, archaeal hibernation remains poorly understood. Using cryoEM of archaeal lysates, we identified AHA (AMPKγ-HPF from Archaea), a broadly conserved ribosome-associated factor composed of two modules. AHA bound across ribosomal subunits, occluding the mRNA channel and tRNA binding sites, supporting its role in ribosome hibernation. ΔAHA cells displayed reduced viability, loss of ribosomal proteins in the stationary phase, a…

Side-Chain Length Modulation in Thieno[3,2- c ]isochromene Small-Molecule Donors for High-Performance Ternary Fullerene Organic Solar Cells ↗
Abstract Side-chain engineering is an effective strategy for precisely tuning the crystallinity and active-layer morphology of high-performance bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) organic solar cells (OSCs). To systematically elucidate the side-chain length–property relationship across a complete homologous series, we herein designed and employed a small-molecule donor TiC6, which, together with the previously reported TiC8 and TiC12 analogues, completes the thieno[3,2-c]isochromene-based donor family with alkyl chains varying from hexyl to dodecyl. Taking the PTB7-Th:PC71BM system as a platform, we emp…

Triggering high-energy orbits in rotational nonlinear energy harvesters via time-varying external excitation and internal parameter modulation ↗
The nonlinear dynamics of rotational piezoelectric energy harvesters can enhance power output and broaden the operational bandwidth. However, their practical application is severely constrained by uncontrollable switching between the high-energy orbit (HEO) and low-energy orbit (LEO) induced by nonlinearity and time-varying effects. In addition, centrifugal effects significantly raise the energy threshold required for the harvester to reach the HEO state. To address these challenges, this study proposes an HEO-excitation strategy that combines time-varying external excitation with internal sys…

How energy dependence becomes domestically acceptable in European countries: Legitimation of Russian energy use during the Russia–Ukraine war ↗
The Russia–Ukraine war placed European countries before fundamental political and moral choices, compelling them to reconsider how to suspend, reduce, or manage their dependence on Russian oil and gas. These decisions were not simply technical responses to energy security concerns, sanctions, or market reconfiguration, but required domestic legitimation and societal acceptance in order to remain politically and practically viable. This study investigates how mainstream national media constructed Russian energy dependence as domestically acceptable—or contestable—during the war, focusing on Pol…

A naturally evolved mutation in cavefish mc3r reshapes energy homeostasis across development in a nutrient-limited environment. ↗
Food availability in natural habitats is often unpredictable and drives the selection of adaptive strategies in organisms to survive food scarcity. However, the genetic and molecular mechanisms that enable animals to survive under such nutritional extremes are poorly understood. Naturally adapted organisms therefore provide powerful genetic systems for uncovering the mechanisms that maintain energy homeostasis under nutritional extremes. Here, we leveraged the cavefish Astyanax mexicanus to identify a naturally occurring Thr166Met missense mutation in the melanocortin 3 receptor (mc3r) that re

IGNITE Tokamak World Model Architecture ↗
We introduce IGNITE, a generative world foundation model for fusion plasma behavior simulation trained in a self-supervised manner from over a decade of unlabeled experimental data at the DIII-D National Fusion Facility. The core of IGNITE is a dynamics model that can simulate DIII-D discharges from a given set of actuator trajectories. These trajectories can be supplied or generated on-the-fly from a textual prompt or from desired experimental outcomes. The model architecture consists of several spatio-temporal tokenizers that embed the different input modalities, including time-series like s…

How to assess evidence about Energy
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
