Earlier sources: Energy

Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

746 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Characterization of Multi-Material 316L–IN718 System Produced by Powder Binning in Laser Powder Bed Fusion ↗

This study presents a detailed microanalysis and microstructural characterization of the multi-material 316L–IN718 system produced in a prior work by the powder binning method for Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), in which these multi-material samples were fabricated in a single build and then mechanically tested. This effort extends the investigation by applying X-ray micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques to specimens produced under the baseline single-scan condition to e…

Comparative Investigation of Substrate Effects on the Surface Free Energy of Self-Assembled Monolayers on Au, TiO 2 , and Al 2 O 3 ↗

Abstract Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) are widely used to tailor surface properties of biomaterials and implant surfaces. In this study, the influence of the underlying substrate on the apparent surface properties despite the presence of a SAM coating is investigated. Structurally analogous thiol- and phosphonate-based monolayers were formed on gold, titanium dioxide and aluminum oxide surfaces. Surface free energies were determined using contact angle measurements. The results indicate that the measured surface free energy can still depend on the substrate material despite the presence of…

Environmental and Economic Assessment of a Chemically Recyclable Multifunctional CFs-Reinforced Epoxy Laminate with Integrated Photovoltaic Cell ↗

This study evaluates the environmental and economic implications of manufacturing and chemically recycling a multifunctional carbon fiber (CF) epoxy laminate with an integrated crystalline-silicon photovoltaic (PV) cell. Primary material, energy, and waste data were collected during laboratory-scale manufacture and selective acid-mediated disassembly. A preliminary contribution analysis identified the photovoltaic cell and CF fabric as the dominant manufacturing hotspots, jointly accounting for approximately 85% of both climate change and fossil resource impacts. These findings guided a compar…

Liquid Piston Technology for Energy Conversion and Storage: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Engineering Challenges ↗

The increasing penetration of intermittent renewable energy has intensified the demand for efficient energy conversion, energy storage, and gas compression technologies. Liquid piston systems have attracted growing attention because of their non-contact sealing, structural simplicity, low mechanical friction, and favorable thermal management characteristics. This review establishes a unified analytical framework for understanding liquid piston technologies applied to compressed air energy storage, hydrogen compression, and Stirling energy conversion systems. The coupled interactions among liqu…

Sustainable Management of Global Platinum Group Resources in the Energy Transition: A Group Metabolism Perspective ↗

Abstract As the transition toward carbon neutrality accelerates, platinum group metals (PGMs) have emerged as indispensable resources for the low‐carbon transformation. However, the supply of this PGM supply chain is very concentrated, with 99% of primary production coming from South Africa and Russia. This study employs dynamic material flow analysis (MFA) to quantify the global metabolism of five PGMs (Pt, Pd, Rh, Ir, Ru) across five major regions from 2011 to 2025. A significant spatiotemporal mismatch was identified, with demand centers shifting toward East Asia, North America, and Europe…

Impacts of renewable energy subsidies on multi-timescale electricity markets under increasing renewable penetration in China ↗

The rapid expansion of renewable capacity in China is increasingly depressing wholesale electricity prices and exacerbating revenue inadequacy for renewable generators. This cost-recovery pressure has made the contract-for-difference (CfD) mechanism a major subsidy instrument for renewable energy in China. However, this out-of-market revenue-stabilizing mechanism raises concerns about its impacts on electricity market operation. Increasingly frequent negative prices in China further motivate a systematic assessment of how this CfD mechanism affects wholesale markets. Here, the impacts of the C…

Keeping Chloride in Its Place for Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells ↗

ABSTRACT The efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells remain constrained by the redistribution of mobile halide ions during film formation and operation. In the highlighted work, potassium binoxalate releases K + during annealing to associate with mobile Cl − and promote stable KCl formation, thereby suppressing interfacial chloride accumulation and producing a homogenized vertical chlorine distribution (HVCD). The resulting spatially uniform absorber exhibits reduced trap densities, improved energy‐level alignment, more efficient charge extraction, a certified steady‐state power con…

Numerical analysis of wave energy extraction by an inclined detached Oscillating Water Column near a wall ↗

Ocean wave energy constitutes a vast and largely untapped renewable resource, which has driven continuous and in-depth exploration of efficient, robust, and reliable energy conversion technologies. Among the different wave energy conversion technologies, the Oscillating Water Column (OWC) is widely studied for its sustainability and operational flexibility in coastal and offshore environments. The present work focuses on an inclined detached OWC device and evaluates its hydrodynamic response using linear wave theory under both regular and irregular wave conditions in the presence of a rigid wa…

Simulation of the medium- and long-term development of China's hydrogen energy industry and policy impacts ↗

China's hydrogen supply structure remains heavily dependent on fossil fuels, making the promotion of green and low-carbon development in the hydrogen energy industry (HEI) critical for achieving national dual-carbon targets. This study forecasts future trends in China's HEI and explores policy pathways to support its sustainable development. To this end, a system dynamics (SD) model is developed to analyze the medium- and long-term development of China's HEI. The model captures hydrogen production from both fossil-based and renewable sources, while also accounting for carbon emissions from the…

Recent Advances in Biogas Production and Upgrading Technologies for Sustainable Energy Systems ↗

ABSTRACT Biogas and biomethane are becoming increasingly important in sustainable energy systems due to their contributions to waste valorization, greenhouse gas reduction, circular economy development, and improved energy security. This review evaluates recent advances in biogas generation and upgrading technologies reported between 2023 and 2026 through a systematic examination of the scientific literature. Recent advances in biogas production include increased reactor capacity, enhanced pretreatment procedures, conductive‐material‐assisted digestion, and bio‐electrochemical improvement. Adv…

How to assess evidence about Energy

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
