Earlier sources: Energy

Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

691 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Open-ended Human Activity Understanding via LLM-assisted Motion Decomposition and Semantic Fusion ↗

Human activity is a fundamental component of intelligent interactive systems. Existing human activity recognition (HAR) follows a closed-ended assumption—defining a fixed set of activity classes and classifying each sensor signal into one of them—yet real-world human behavior is complex and ever-changing and thus cannot be fully represented by any fixed set. We present a new paradigm for open-ended human activity understanding (HAU), shifting the goal from closed-set classification to understanding activities via their meta-motions. To achieve this, we design MOSAIC, a motion decomposition and…

From volatility to viability: A stochastic evaluation of electricity-sourcing strategies and policy support for green hydrogen bankability in the Netherlands ↗

Green hydrogen projects in the Netherlands face a critical bankability gap due to high costs and volatile energy markets. This study evaluates a 200-MW alkaline electrolyzer located in the Port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, comparing three electricity-sourcing strategies: merchant market exposure, baseload green Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and hybrid renewable energy sources (RES)-integrated models. By integrating Monte Carlo price uncertainty with risk-adjusted project financing and expert insights, we show that without policy support, all base-case configurations are currently unbanka…

Oil Rents and Territorial Reconfiguration in the Energy Transition: Evidence from Maricá, Brazil ↗

This study examines the influence of oil rents on territorial dynamics and urban expansion in Maricá (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) between 2012 and 2024, grounded in debates on the resource curse and extractive economies. It investigates the relationship between oil-driven fiscal expansion and land-use change using spatial analysis and Land Change Modeler (LCM) techniques. Results show sustained, predominantly horizontal urban growth, mainly through the conversion of anthropized land, especially Mosaic of Uses and Pasture classes. Between 2012 and 2024, the Urban Area increased from 53.31 km2 to 74…

Comprehensive Economic-Environmental Assessment of Hybrid, Battery Electric, and Fuel Cell Vehicles: Incorporating Battery Replacement, Recycling Value, and Infrastructure Sensitivity ↗

The shift towards low-carbon transport is increasingly influenced by choices among hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). Typical comparative analyses often focus solely on lifecycle cost or environmental performance, frequently assuming fixed battery behavior and simplified end-of-life processes. These simplifications can obscure complex interactions between battery longevity, when batteries are replaced, the value recovered through recycling, and how energy and emissions vary based on infrastructure. This research introduce…

Efficient and Ambient-Air Processed Perovskite Solar Cells Enabled by Adamantanethiol as a Dual-Action Modulator ↗

This work presents a dual-modulation strategy using 1-adamantanethiol (ADT), a rigid cage-like molecule, to simultaneously enhance the efficiency and stability of inverted perovskite solar cells. In contrast to conventional flexible small molecule modulators, ADT features a highly rigid three-dimensional adamantane skeleton that enables the formation of a stable steric barrier layer on the perovskite surface. Meanwhile, its terminal –SH group exhibits strong coordination affinity with undercoordinated Pb2+ ions, providing effective chemical passivation of surface defects. Beyond defect healing…

Techno-economic boundaries of hydrate-based cooling thermal energy storage ↗

Driven by carbon-neutrality targets and the growing need for peak–valley regulation in power systems, building cooling increasingly demands cool thermal energy storage (CTES) solutions that remain techno-economically viable across regions. This study develops a unified, annual-scale simulation framework (fixed building and system topology) to evaluate a hydrate-based CTES system across Shenyang, Beijing, Guiyang, Shanghai, and Guangzhou in China. Two operating boundaries are compared—single cooling and combination cooling—with CRS and an ice CTES system as benchmarks. A full-factorial scan ove…

Analytical Investigation of Nonlinear Wave Dynamics, Stability, and Energy Characteristics in Shallow Water Wave Propagation ↗

In this study, a nonlinear evolution equation is used to model the dynamics of continuous wave motion and soliton bursts, mainly within the fields of fluid mechanics and wave dynamics. Dynamic analytical approaches, such as the enhanced modified extended $\tanh$-expansion method (EMETEM), the $(m+1/G')$-expansion method, and the new Kudryashov method, are used to obtain new soliton solutions, such as dark, bright, singular, periodic, and lump soliton solutions for the equation. An analysis of stability was conducted on several derived wave solutions, and the stability characteristics of these…

Theoretical Investigation of Energy Levels and Transition Rates for Te IV ↗

A theoretical study of the atomic structure properties of triply ionized tellurium (Te IV) is carried out employing the multiconfiguration Dirac–Hartree–Fock (MCDHF) and relativistic configuration interaction (RCI) methods. Electron correlation effects are systematically taken into account through large configuration state function expansions. The energy levels and transition rates are computed for the 63 lowest states in Te IV. Inclusion of natural orbitals improves the results and leads to closer agreement with experimental values. The present results are compared with spectroscopic data fro…

Phase change material backfill for underground thermal energy storage in direct-expansion CO2 ground-coupled heat pumps ↗

To enhance the short-term underground thermal energy storage capability of direct-expansion ground-coupled heat pump (DX-GCHP) systems, this paper proposes a dynamic thermal resistance and capacity model (TRCM) that incorporates the quasi-static phase-change characteristics of phase change material (PCM). By introducing “equivalent thermal resistance” and a hybrid node network, the model efficiently resolves the complex coupling among CO 2 transcritical/two-phase flow, PCM phase change, and soil heat conduction. Experimental validation against the water-backfilled condition demonstrates that t…

Synergistic effects of electrolyte additives and electrode compression on vanadium redox flow battery performance ↗

Redox flow batteries (RFBs) have attracted significant attention as promising renewable energy storage systems due to their scalability, low maintenance costs, and long-life cycling. Among them, Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFBs) are the most mature technology, offering electrolyte recyclability, good efficiencies, and no cross-contamination. Nevertheless, VRFBs can only operate at a limited range of temperature, as the vanadium species tend to precipitate at different temperatures, leading to severe loss of electrochemical performance. While numerous studies have separately evaluated the e…

How to assess evidence about Energy

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
