THE INTERNET IS THINKING

Earlier sources: Energy

Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

696 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

A Study on a Standardized Safety Regulation and Quality Assurance Framework for the Safe Acquisition and Operation of Nuclear-Powered Submarines ↗

Purpose: This study proposes a standardized safety regulation and quality assurance framework for the safe acquisition and operation of nuclear-powered submarines in Korea. The study focuses on how nuclear safety regulation should be synchronized with the defense acquisition life cycle, rather than treated as a late-stage licensing activity. Methods: The study reviews the current Korean nuclear licensing structure, the proposed legal framework for nuclear-powered submarines, domestic licensing delay cases, and international practices from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Austr…

Deriving and Benchmarking Building Renovation Passport Data Requirements Against CityGML and the Energy ADE ↗

Reaching the European Union’s 2050 climate targets depends on renovating a building stock responsible for a large share of the EU’s energy use and greenhouse-gas emissions. The recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EU/2024/1275) proposes two instruments: the Digital Building Logbook (DBL), a repository for building data across the whole life cycle, and the Building Renovation Passport (BRP), a stepwise renovation roadmap that draws on those data. Both require a data model to make building data machine-readable and interoperable, yet few European initiatives provide one: most publis…

Thermal management of an electronic board using a fluid-based heat sink equipped with thermal energy storage materials ↗

The growing power density and miniaturization of electronic components have intensified the need for advanced thermal management systems capable of maintaining device reliability under high heat fluxes. In this context, the present numerical study explores the thermal performance of a Liquid-based Heat Sink integrated with Thermal Energy Storage Materials (LQ-HS-TESM) for effective temperature control of an electronic board. A three-dimensional transient model of the LQ-HS-TESM unit is developed and simulated under a wide range of operating conditions to evaluate the influence of key parameter…

The Energy System Ontology: A conceptual framework for energy transition research ↗

The energy transition is characterized by the increasing complexity and interdependence of technological, economic, policy, environmental, and social dimensions. While a large and rapidly growing body of literature addresses these aspects, differences in terminology, conceptual scope, and analytical focus hinder the integration of findings across studies and the alignment of diverse modeling approaches. This paper presents the Energy System Ontology (ESO), a comprehensive conceptual framework developed to bridge these gaps and support the structured organization and synthesis of knowledge rela…

Coordinated Optimisation of Rural Renewable Energy Accommodation Considering the Spatiotemporal Transfer Characteristics of Urban–Rural Electric Buses ↗

The rapid integration of rural distributed photovoltaics has improved rural energy self-sufficiency. However, because of low rural load density, insufficient midday electricity demand, and limited distribution-network export capability, surplus photovoltaic electricity is difficult to accommodate efficiently on site. To improve rural renewable energy utilisation without relying on large-scale stationary storage or distribution-network expansion, this study proposes an urban–rural coordinated scheduling optimisation method for electric buses with spatiotemporal transfer characteristics. First,…

Mapping the Scientific Interest in Integrating Digital Twin Technology into Renewable Energy Systems: Efficiency-Oriented Trends, Evidence-Based Gaps and Strategic Directions ↗

Digital twin (DT) technology is increasingly mobilized to improve the efficiency and operational performance of renewable energy (RE) systems. This study maps the efficiency-oriented segment of DT research in RE through a bibliometric analysis of 383 documents indexed in Web of Science and Scopus (2018–September 2026), obtained after screening out records in which the acronym DT denotes another concept, and compares the results with two earlier versions of the corpus. Research gaps are derived through a three-level triangulation of keyword prevalence, co-occurrence cluster composition, and pos…

A Pilot-Scale Hybrid Microwave-Assisted Tunnel Kiln for Energy-Efficient Porcelain Firing: Design, Performance, and Process Development ↗

This work reports the development process of a 12 m continuous hybrid microwave–gas tunnel kiln for white-glazed porcelain firing. The kiln combines 40 conventional 2.45 GHz magnetrons with 10 natural-gas burners and was developed through the GreenWave and CerWave projects. The experimental program was production-oriented rather than statistically designed. Firing cycles from 3.5 to 8 h were evaluated, with 7 h identified as the principal validated condition for white-glazed porcelain based on industrial visual-acceptance criteria. The maximum individual saving was 12.4%, while the average sav…

Radiation-tolerant composites batteries in high energy physics facilities: paving the pathway for india-based neutrino observatory: a state-of-the-art perspective ↗

Abstract High-energy physics facilities, including underground neutrino observatories, demand highly reliable, long-lasting energy storage systems capable of operating for decades in constrained and specialised environments with minimal maintenance. Conventional batteries used in uninterruptible power supplies are not optimised for the required multi-year stability or compatibility with the ultra-clean conditions essential for precision experiments. This perspective explores the development of radiation-tolerant composite batteries as a promising solution for such demanding applications, with…

Simulator‐Based Bayesian Inference of Enhanced Geothermal Reservoir Properties ↗

Abstract Inversions of dynamic multi‐scale multi‐physics subsurface system properties rely on the effective sampling of high‐dimensional parameter spaces and are thus notoriously difficult to perform. The associated models are defined by complex nonlinear relationships with potentially stochastic components, which lead to analytically intractable likelihoods that require challenging forward simulations of the system response. This paper presents the application of the Bayesian optimization for likelihood‐free inference (BOLFI) algorithm to invert the properties of a geothermal reservoir. We us…

Regulating Phase Evolution and Crystallization Dynamics Enables Low Open‐Circuit Voltage Deficit in Wide‐Bandgap Cu 2 ZnSnS 4 Solar Cells ↗

ABSTRACT Wide‐bandgap kesterite Cu 2 ZnSnS 4 (CZTS) is a promising top‐cell candidate for tandem photovoltaics owing to its earth‐abundant composition and low‐cost solution processability. However, its progress is hindered by a large open‐circuit voltage ( V OC ) deficit. A key origin lies in the defects generated during sulfurization. For solution‐processed CZTS absorbers, an intermediate‐phase pathway involving Cu 2 SnS 3 and other intermediate phases alters the local chemical environment and crystallization behavior, leading to substantial defects and carrier recombination. Here, we develop…

How to assess evidence about Energy

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
