THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Energy
Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗693 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

ASIF: A Resource-Aware Selective Network Traffic Inspection Framework Integrating Certificate Screening, Targeted Decryption, and Feature Fusion ↗
The widespread use of TLS in IoT and networked systems increases inspection cost while restricting direct access to payload content. This paper presents the Adaptive Secure Inspection Framework (ASIF), a resource-aware selective network traffic inspection framework that coordinates certificate-based routing, authorized targeted decryption, known-signature matching, and learned flow classification. ASIF contains three components: (1) a Certificate Screening Module (CSM), which applies configured checks of root trust, chain integrity, and leaf-certificate validity as an early routing signal; (2)…

Energy transition metals: supply and demand dynamics in a geopoliticised market ↗
The clean energy transition has transformed a set of formerly niche mineral commodities—lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper, manganese, graphite and the earth elements—into strategic resources whose availability increasingly conditions climate policy, industrial strategy and interstate relations. This integrative review synthesises the peer-reviewed literature, official statistics, legal texts and documented market events bearing on the supply and demand dynamics of these energy transition metals, with particular attention to the geopoliticisation of their markets; the evidence window is January 2…

A rotor dynamic balancing method without trial weights based on multi-sensor feature fusion with an attention mechanism ↗
Accurate identification of unbalance parameters lies at the core of rotor dynamic balancing technology. In this paper, a deep learning approach is integrated with rotor dynamic balancing theory, and a multi-sensor feature fusion dynamic balancing method without trial weights based on the attention mechanism is proposed. First, considering the unique nature of the dynamic balancing process, a rotor model with varying unbalance parameters was established, and the dataset for model training was augmented by adding bandpass noise. Subsequently, a neural network model for unbalance identification b…

Assessing the global viability of solid gravity storage in decentralized hybrid microgrids ↗
Decarbonizing decentralized power networks requires autonomous hybrid renewable microgrids equipped with sustainable bulk energy storage. Tower-based solid gravity energy storage is emerging as a promising alternative to electrochemical batteries, but its techno-economic and environmental viability within off-grid systems has not been comprehensively assessed at a global geospatial scale. This study maps the global boundaries of gravity storage integration by evaluating its specific cost, life-cycle carbon footprint, and optimal sizing dynamics across diverse climatic conditions. The modeled d…

Unified Technology Readiness Level (TRL) advancement criteria for space nuclear systems ↗
Abstract A unified set of TRL criteria for space nuclear systems, including nuclear electric propulsion (NEP), is presented, reconciling definitions and differences found in NASA, U.S. Department of Defense (U.S. Department of War (DoW) [as of 5 Sept 2025]) (DoD), and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) guidance documents. The intent is to provide a common framework for consistent TRL assessment across government agencies and industry partners, thereby reducing ambiguity, limiting overstatement of readiness, and supporting programmatic decisions for advancing space nuclear technologies toward flig…

Process‐informed co‐optimization of liquid air energy storage and data centers under off‐design thermodynamic operation ↗
Abstract The rapid growth of AI data centers (AIDCs) is intensifying stress on power systems and exposing operators to volatile electricity markets. This work develops a process‐informed co‐optimization framework that integrates liquid air energy storage (LAES) with AIDC operation. Unlike black‐box storage models, the proposed formulation captures LAES thermodynamics through charging start‐up dynamics and off‐design discharge behavior, linking process efficiency with dispatch decisions. The model is formulated as a mixed‐integer program with a robust extension for joint participation in energy…

Overview of the High Energy Photon Source Accelerators ↗
Abstract The High Energy Photon Source (HEPS), Asia’s first fourth-generation synchrotron light source, marks a major milestone in China’s accelerator development. As a greenfield facility initiated in 2019, HEPS consists of a three-stage accelerator complex, including a 500 MeV S-band linear accelerator, a 454-meter full-energy booster, and a 1.36-kilometer storage ring employing a modified hybrid 7-bend achromat lattice. This design achieves an ultra-low emittance of approximately 35 pm·rad in the storage ring, enabling near-diffraction-limited synchrotron radiation in the hard X-ray regime.…

Non-Graphitic Carbon with Enhanced Plateau Capacity and Reduced Slope Capacity for Sodium Storage Prepared with the Assistance of Phosphoric Acid ↗
Abstract The relatively low energy density of sodium-ion batteries can be effectively mitigated by boosting the low-voltage plateau capacity of anode materials. Herein, a non-graphitic carbon (NGC) is prepared from pre-carbonized semi-coke through H3PO4 treatment followed by carbonization at 1400 °C. The obtained NGC possesses an increased content of pseudo-graphitic structure and a decreased content of disordered structure thanks to the multiple effects of catalysis, activation, and heteroatom doping of H3PO4 on semi-coke, which reach a balance at an H3PO4/semi-coke mass ratio of 1 and a trea…

Energy-efficient clustering and routing protocol for wireless sensor networks based on improved HOA and attention-guided D3QN ↗
Abstract Clustering and routing protocols are widely regarded as effective methods for improving energy efficiency and extending network lifetime in wireless sensor networks. However, existing protocols often insufficiently consider dynamic energy distribution and topology characteristics, which may lead to imbalanced cluster structures, uneven energy consumption, and additional communication overhead. To address these issues, this paper proposes HOADRL, an energy-efficient clustering and routing protocol based on the hiking optimization algorithm (HOA) and deep reinforcement learning. First,…

Short-Term Probabilistic Interval Forecasting of Electricity, Cooling, and Heating Loads Using an Improved Osprey Optimization Algorithm-Based TCN-BiLSTM-QR Model ↗
Integrated Energy Systems (IESs) are characterized by strong nonstationarity, seasonal heterogeneity, and stochastic fluctuations in electric, cooling, and heating loads, making accurate and reliable probabilistic forecasting challenging. To address this issue, this study proposes an Improved Osprey Optimization Algorithm-based TCN-BiLSTM-Quantile Regression (IOOA-TCN-BiLSTM-QR) model for short-term probabilistic forecasting of multi-energy loads. The model integrates Logistic chaotic mapping and Lévy flight to enhance the optimization capability of the Osprey Optimization Algorithm, while TCN…

How to assess evidence about Energy
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
