Earlier sources: Energy

Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

664 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Comparative Shotgun Metagenomics of Microbial Communities Associated with Two Geothermal Systems in Kazakhstan ↗

Geothermal-associated microbial communities remain poorly characterized in Central Asia. Here, shotgun metagenomics was used to compare microbial communities associated with thermally influenced substrates from the Chundzha and Rakhman geothermal systems in Kazakhstan. Six metagenomes representing three spatial replicates per site yielded approximately 6.5–7.3 Gb of clean sequence data per sample. Species-level richness showed a directional trend toward higher values in Chundzha, whereas Shannon diversity was similar between sites. Genus-level Bray–Curtis ordination showed apparent site-associ…

Numerical investigation of natural convection flow in a porous cavity considering activation energy, Soret–Dufour effects and variable viscosity ↗

The natural convection flow and heat-mass transport characteristics in porous cavities are critical in thermal insulation, energy storage, geothermal systems, catalytic reactors, chemical processing, and other heat and mass transfer applications where chemical reactions, variable fluid properties, and cross-diffusion all have a significant impact on transport properties. Motivated by these applications, the current study provides a numerical analysis of the convective behavior of a Casson fluid confined within a two-dimensional porous square cavity, highlighting the intricate coupling between…

Synergistic effect of heat and mass transfer for thermochemical heat storage based on a novel umbrella-shaped fin structure ↗

Compressed CO 2 energy storage (CCES) is regarded as a prospective large-scale energy storage technology, with CCES systems incorporating heat storage devices playing a pivotal role in enhancing system efficiency. Salt hydrate-based thermochemical energy storage (TCES) provides benefits such as high energy storage density (ESD) and minimal heat dissipation, presenting broad application prospects. However, the inefficient heat conduction in the reactor of TCES systems restricts widespread implementation. An umbrella-shaped fin structure is introduced into a TCES reactor for the first time to en…

Explainable and Uncertainty-Aware Machine Learning for EV Energy Consumption Prediction ↗

Electric vehicle consumption prediction is essential for improving route planning, charging management, and battery utilization. Although machine learning approaches have shown promising capability in prediction, the majority of the existing research mostly emphasizes point prediction, providing limited model interpretability and little or no quantification of prediction uncertainty. As a result, their practical application in actual EV energy management is still difficult, where confidence estimation and prediction transparency are crucial. This paper proposes an explainable and uncertainty-a…

Monte Carlo-Based Fuzzy TOPSIS and CFD Thermal Modeling for Inert Gas Selection in TN-32B Dry Cask Storage ↗

The type of inert gas utilised for spent fuel storage at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) has a significant impact on the thermal performance and safety of the TN-32B dry cask storage system. To determine the suitable gas, this study used fuzzy TOPSIS decision-making, Monte Carlo sensitivity analysis, and CFD simulations with ANSYS Fluent. Under a 34 kW decay heat load, the effects of air, nitrogen, argon, and helium were assessed for a single fuel assembly. The estimated peak temperatures were below the 649 K statutory safety limit: 635 K for helium, 621 K for argon, 591 K for nitrogen,…

High-resolution cryoEM of nucleosomes in nuclear extracts of mammalian cells ↗

Frontier Structural Biology methods are transitioning from analysis of reconstituted macromolecular complexes in vitro to imaging of macromolecular assemblies within the physiological confines of the cell. Preparation of samples for in situ cryoEM analysis requires FIB milling or ultramicrotome sectioning, laborious and technically challenging procedures that are low-throughput and require a high degree of technical skills. We have devised a simple approach for cryoEM of nuclear macromolecular complexes that preserves to a high degree their physiological environment while removing the need for…

Energy Distribution of Sputtered Atomic Structures ↗

Abstract The process of energy exchange upon interaction of an ion beam with a solid surface is considered within the framework of a pairwise interaction model under ion sputtering. The multifactorial nature of this process is noted, as well as existing controversies in the literature regarding the energy dependence of the ionization probability of sputtered particles and the interpretation of their energy distributions. A quantum-wave approach is proposed to describe the ejected particle as a wave packet using de Broglie waves. Based on perturbation theory and the Heisenberg uncertainty princ…

MCOF: A Multi-Channel Attention-Based Omics Fusion Framework for Cancer Subtyping and Candidate Biomarker Prioritization ↗

Multi-omics molecular subtyping is complicated by small cohorts, heterogeneous data layers, and sensitivity to data splitting and feature selection. We developed multi-channel attention-based omics fusion (MCOF), an end-to-end framework that combines omics-specific projection, one-dimensional convolution, and integrated gradients for candidate biomarker prioritization. MCOF was evaluated against six baselines using five repeated stratified holdouts across four multi-omics datasets. In the restricted four-class breast invasive carcinoma task, MCOF achieved the highest observed mean for all five…

Renewable electricity is associated with wholesale price resilience in sustainable Iberian power markets ↗

Abstract Sustainable electricity transitions are often assessed through emissions and generation shares. Their social and economic viability also depends on how power markets transmit fossil-fuel price shocks. This paper studies the Iberian day-ahead market, where Spain and Portugal combine high renewable penetration, internal market coupling and exposure to the 2021–2023 gas-price shock. Using hourly OMIE prices and Spain-Portugal capacity files, REData and REN generation and demand records, and MIBGAS day-ahead gas prices, we build matched daily samples for 2019–2025. The analysis connects t…

Genetic Algorithm-Based Techno-Economic Optimization of a PV–Wind–Wave–Battery Hybrid Microgrid for the Island of Lampedusa ↗

The decarbonization of isolated island power systems is hindered by dependence on diesel generation, limited operational flexibility, and pronounced seasonal demand variability. Lampedusa constitutes a representative Mediterranean case study, characterized by an isolated diesel-based power system with limited renewable energy integration and significant tourism-driven load fluctuations. This study proposes an integrated techno-economic optimization framework for the design and operation of a hybrid island microgrid combining photovoltaic, wind, and wave energy converters with battery energy st…

How to assess evidence about Energy

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
