Earlier sources: Energy
Energy research and engineering concern how power is produced, stored, delivered, and consumed. Follow solar and nuclear power, fusion, geothermal systems, batteries, electricity grids, and changing power demand.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗656 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

NEWCOV: A Nuclear Data Covariances Library in Support of Liquid-Metal Fast Reactor Design ↗
Fast reactor systems benefit from less operational experience than traditional water-cooled reactors, making it essential to assess the reliability of computational tools and of input nuclear data for such systems. This assessment is conducted rigorously with uncertainty quantification as well as with Verification&Validation (V&V) studies, both of which rely on handling uncertainty in nuclear data systematically and consistently. This paper focuses on the generation of a library of nuclear data covariances and on its use in uncertainty and sensitivity analyses in the framework of fast reactors…

Greenhouse cooling demonstration with renewable energy-based tri-generation system ↗
Achieving carbon-neutral greenhouse operation while avoiding peak electricity demand remains challenging because of the high cooling load and the lack of field-scale experimental validation. This study proposes an operational strategy to maximize cooling performance in a heating-oriented greenhouse thermal management system (GTMS) without equipment expansion. A fuel cell and renewable energy-based tri-generation system integrating power generation, waste heat, and solar thermal energy was implemented in a 660 m 2 smart greenhouse. Fuel cell electricity drives heat pumps, while recovered waste…

Adaptive search-space reduction and partial shading detection for high-efficiency MPPT in photovoltaic systems ↗
Abstract This paper proposes an integrated maximum power point tracking (MPPT) framework for photovoltaic systems operating under uniform and partial shading conditions. The framework incorporates a partial shading detection technique (PSDT) that simultaneously identifies the operating condition and adaptively reduces the search space by eliminating regions that cannot contain the global maximum power point (GMPP) and avoiding redundant sampling, thereby accelerating the subsequent MPPT process. Based on the identified condition, an enhanced divide-and-conquer algorithm with ternary ratio (EDC…

Trip-End Battery State of Charge Prediction for Electric Vehicles Using a Physics-Constrained Machine Learning Stacking Ensemble ↗
This study proposes an approach for predicting the state of charge (SoC) of an electric vehicle battery at the end of an individual operational interval using parameters available before the start of the trip. The input features included the initial SoC, trip distance, and ambient temperature. The driving range estimated by the onboard system was also considered, as it summarizes information about the vehicle’s previous operating conditions. The direct target variable was the change in state of charge over the operational interval (Delta SoC), which was subsequently used to calculate the state…

Performance Analysis of a Novel Solar-Assisted Heat Pump Energy Supply System with Dual Energy Storage ↗
Given the significant decrease in the efficiency of air-source heat pumps (ASHPs) during winter and the intermittency and instability of solar heating output, which seriously affect the system performance, this paper presents a novel solar-assisted heat pump system with dual energy storage (DES-SAHP). The system is composed of a photovoltaic–thermal (PV/T) unit, an energy storage unit, and a heat pump unit. Mathematical models for the PV/T collector, energy storage, and heat pump units have been established. A comprehensive solution methodology, along with a MATLAB R2021a calculation program,…

Waste to energy: Mitigation of engine performance penalties through nano-agents and oxy-hydrogen gas enrichment, and prediction of engine behaviours with metaheuristic algorithms coupled with ANN ↗
After waste tires were transformed into pyrolysis oil, 20% of oil was blended with diesel-fuel (T20). Then CNT- and Al 2 O 3 -nanoparticles were added to T20 at 50 and 100 ppm, and Oxyhydrogen (HHO) was supplied at 0.5 L/min. The incorporation of HHO into nanoparticle-enhanced T20 blends reduced CO concentrations. Thermal efficiency increased by 14.10% and 22.54% for T20A50 + HHO and T20C100 + HHO, respectively, relative to T20. NO x emissions decreased by 25% and 31%, respectively, relative to T20. CO reductions for T20A100 + HHO and T20C100 + HHO were 16.24% and 22.59%. Smoke decreased by 29…

A socio-technical approach to digitalization and decentralization in the transition of energy systems ↗
Digitalization and decentralization are key factors in energy systems’ transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. With established grid systems and the technical development of distributed energy resources, electricity systems become part of socio-technical transitions that increasingly comprise digitalization. This article offers an interdisciplinary perspective on the contemporary challenges that electrical systems face. It is largely focused on developments in Germany, where such changes are informed by shifts in the broader European energy market. Written by and for social,…

Comparative Energy and Thermal Performance of Biomimetic Louver Retrofits in Hot-Arid Climate Residential Buildings ↗
Building envelopes at this time of climate change should enhance their energy performance and, as a result, minimize undesirable environmental impacts. This study performed a comparative simulation analysis of a residential building in New Cairo, Egypt, to evaluate its performance following the implementation of a passive design element in relation to its traditional structure. The suggested passive design element consists of biomimetic louver shading devices manufactured from locally available natural and agricultural waste materials inspired by animal adaptation mechanisms in nature, includi…

Event-Triggered Coordinated Control of Frequency and Voltage for Multi-Energy Microgrid ↗
With the increasing proportion of power electronic devices in multi-energy microgrid cluster systems, the inertia level of the system continues to decrease, posing severe challenges to the control of system frequency and voltage stability. To improve the frequency and voltage stability of multi-energy microgrid cluster systems, this paper proposes an event-triggered multi-energy microgrid control method to enhance voltage stability. Firstly, this paper analyzes the reactive power and voltage characteristics of multi-energy systems, and constructs stability control models for multi-energy micro…

Calligraphy‐Brush‐Fabricated Xuan Paper for Sustainable Direct‐Current Triboelectric Nanogenerators in Human‐Motion Energy Harvesting and Biomedical Sensing ↗
ABSTRACT This study presents a sustainable direct current triboelectric nanogenerator fabricated from PEDOT:PSS‐coated Xuan paper using a traditional calligraphy brush method. The combination of Xuan paper, a biodegradable, renewable, and culturally significant material, with a traditional brush‐based fabrication method provides a sustainable strategy for energy harvesting applications. The water based PEDOT:PSS/PVA/pullulan conductive ink allows gentle and uniform coating, while the soft bristles of the brush enable deep penetration into the cellulose fiber network, forming a smooth, continuo…

How to assess evidence about Energy
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
