Earlier sources: Solar

This energy thread follows solar through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

91 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Concentration-dependent back interface passivation with SiO2 nanoparticles for efficient kesterite thin-film solar cells ↗

Back-interface carrier recombination critically limits the open-circuit voltage ( V OC ) of CZTSSe thin-film solar cells. In this work, we systematically tune the back interface between the CZTSSe absorber and the Mo-coated glass substrate by spin-coating a dispersion of SiO 2 nanoparticles at varying concentrations (0%-3.00%). The nanoparticle coverage exhibits a clear concentration dependence, where low concentrations (0.15%-1.50%) improve the absorber crystallinity and back-interface contact, while an excessive concentration (3.00%) forms an insulating layer that severely degrades device pe…

Photovoltaic-energy storage hybrid electric spring based on three-port converters ↗

The large-scale integration of renewable energy sources (RES) into the power grid has led to an imbalance between supply and demand, thereby increasing the demand for energy storage. As an emerging demand-side management technology, the Electric Spring (ES) can effectively mitigate the demand for energy storage by transferring power fluctuations to non-critical loads (NCLs). However, almost all existing ESs adopt a single-input voltage-source-inverter (VSI) as the main circuit, which undoubtedly limits their ability to integrate multiple inputs and their power compensation performance. To addr…

Intelligent forecasting of photovoltaic power output using integrated meteorological and operational data ↗

Background Integrating solar energy into smart grids necessitates accurate forecasting models to ensure grid stability and efficient energy management. Traditional methods struggle with weather-induced fluctuations and system-specific variations, while existing data-driven approaches fail to capture the nonlinear relationships between meteorological conditions and photovoltaic (PV) operational parameters. Results We propose the Spectral-Aware Photovoltaic Encoder (SAPE), a physics-informed deep learning framework that integrates wavelength-resolved irradiance modeling with real-time operationa…

Experimental investigation on a passive photovoltaic evaporative cooling system based on dual-scale capillary aluminum fins ↗

Heat accumulation in photovoltaic modules during operation significantly degrades their efficiency and lifespan. Developing efficient passive phase-change thermal management is key to overcoming this limitation. However, existing solutions lack cooling stability under high heat fluxes and humid environments. Here, we propose and fabricate a Capillary Evaporative Finned Heat Sink (CEFHS) with a dual-scale microgroove structure. Using optical and infrared dual-modal imaging, we analyze its liquid transport and capillary performance, and evaluate its heat transfer and Photovoltaic (PV) cooling un…

Context-Grounded Conceptual Design of an Environmentally Sustainable Hotel in Shiraz, Iran: Biomimicry, Voronoi Geometry, and Solar Energy Generation ↗

This study presents a context-grounded conceptual design for an environmentally sustainable hotel in Shiraz, Iran, integrating three complementary strategies: a biomimicry-inspired responsive façade, a Voronoi-based façade and landscape design, and solar energy generation. Inspired by the adaptive behavior of morning glory flowers, the responsive façade is designed to adjust dynamically to environmental conditions with the aim of improving daylight utilization and thermal performance. Voronoi patterns are incorporated into the façade and landscape with the design intent of enhancing natural li…

Efficient and Ambient-Air Processed Perovskite Solar Cells Enabled by Adamantanethiol as a Dual-Action Modulator ↗

This work presents a dual-modulation strategy using 1-adamantanethiol (ADT), a rigid cage-like molecule, to simultaneously enhance the efficiency and stability of inverted perovskite solar cells. In contrast to conventional flexible small molecule modulators, ADT features a highly rigid three-dimensional adamantane skeleton that enables the formation of a stable steric barrier layer on the perovskite surface. Meanwhile, its terminal –SH group exhibits strong coordination affinity with undercoordinated Pb2+ ions, providing effective chemical passivation of surface defects. Beyond defect healing…

Mitigation of non-uniform thermal loading in concentrated photovoltaic/thermal systems using spectral filtering and phase change material-based energy storage ↗

Concentrated photovoltaic/thermal (CPV/T) receivers are vulnerable to non-uniform concentrated illumination, which promotes localized hot spots, thermal gradients, electrical mismatch risk, and accelerated photovoltaic (PV) degradation under harsh climates. This study develops a hybrid CPV/T-SBS/PCM receiver that combines spectral beam splitting, Therminol VP-1-based bypass cooling, and phase change material (PCM) buffering to improve PV protection and dual electrical-thermal recovery. The work advances CPV/T modelling by integrating non-uniform optical concentration, spectral filtering, activ…

Solar Energy Autopilot (SOLEA): A holistic system architecture for autonomous concentrated solar thermal plants ↗

Concentrated solar thermal (CST) plants can provide dispatchable renewable energy through high-temperature heat and integrated thermal storage, but their commercial deployment is hampered by high operational complexity and associated costs. Increasing the degree of system autonomy is a promising strategy to manage this complexity, reduce operating costs, and improve plant efficiency. However, most existing work still focuses on isolated automation tasks such as heliostat calibration, flux measurement, or plant maintenance rather than plant-wide automation concepts. In addition, there is little…

How to assess evidence about Solar

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
