Earlier sources: Fusion
This energy thread follows fusion through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗129 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Mitochondrial Fusion and Fission in Age‐Related Cardio‐Cerebral Diseases: Mechanisms and Interventions ↗
Mitochondria play a crucial role in cellular energy metabolism. The heart and brain require a continuous and stable energy supply. Energy production strongly depends on proper mitochondrial function. Mitochondrial fusion and fission, known as "plasticity", are vital for maintaining the normal physiological function of cells. Recent studies have shown that impaired mitochondrial dynamics are present in many aging-related diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and atherosclerotic cardio-cerebrovascular disease. The role of impaired mitochondrial dynamics in the p…

A Hybrid 3D CNN-GAT Framework with Entropy-Guided Adaptive Fusion for 3D Mineral Prospectivity Modeling ↗
Abstract Reliable three-dimensional (3D) mineral prospectivity modeling for concealed ore targeting remains challenging because voxel-based models emphasize local volumetric patterns, whereas nonlocal spatial relationships among sampled locations and prediction reliability are not jointly represented. To address this problem, this study developed a hybrid 3D CNN-graph attention network (GAT) framework for the Anqing skarn Cu district, eastern China. A ResNet3D-S&E branch extracts local structural patterns from 7 × 7 × 7 voxel patches, while a GATv2 branch represents coordinate-based neighborho…

Multiscale cross modal fusion and cascaded signal propagation for drug target interaction prediction ↗
Accurate prediction of drug-target interaction (DTI) facilitates the translation of lead compounds into clinical therapeutics. Despite progress in deep learning, two challenges remain: the representation gap between heterogeneous drug and protein modalities and insufficient use of complementary knowledge from pretrained encoders. To address these issues, we propose SF-DTI, a unified framework that integrates multi-encoder protein fusion, structure-semantic drug alignment, and progressive cross-modal refinement for DTI prediction. Specifically, SF-DTI captures global protein semantics from mult…

Horizon-Aware Early Event Prediction for Tokamak Disruption Alarms ↗
Reliable disruption prediction is essential for the safe operation of future tokamaks. Existing full-distribution survival methods model the complete residual time-to-disruption distribution, whereas operational decisions primarily depend on disruption risk within a finite prediction horizon. This mismatch motivates introducing Early Event Prediction (EEP) objectives into survival-based disruption prediction. We take Deep Survival Machines (DSM) as the full-distribution baseline and propose applying two established EEP methods to tokamak disruption prediction: Temporal Label Smoothing (TLS), w…

Geodesic Acoustic Modes in pair plasmas confined in tokamak magnetic fields ↗
This paper is devoted to the derivation of the dispersion relation of the Geodesic Acoustic Mode in pair plasmas, i.e. assuming that ions and electrons have the same mass. Geodesic Acoustic Modes are plasma perturbations playing a crucial role in turbulence regulation, and therefore in the determination of the plasma confinement in tokamaks. Experiments with pair plasmas, like electron-positron plasmas, have been proposed with different kinds of confinements, and aim to study fundamental processes in plasma physics and understanding the formation of the early universe.

Physics-Informed Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks for Grad-Shafranov Tokamak Equilibria ↗
We employ equation-driven, physics-constrained deep learning to solve the fixed-boundary Grad-Shafranov (GS) equilibrium problem, constructing axisymmetric magnetohydrodynamic equilibria with tokamak-relevant characteristics. Equilibria across linear (Solov'ev) and nonlinear profile functions are constructed using Physics-Informed Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks (KANs) that approximate GS solutions while satisfying appropriate boundary conditions. A highly nonlinear pressure profile recreating high-confinement mode phenomenology, such as pressure pedestals and significant bootstrap current componen…

Effects of particle-induced electron emission on transport properties in electrically-biased plasma sheaths under fusion-relevant conditions ↗
A rigorous implementation of energy-dependent ion- and electron-induced electron emission in a continuum-kinetic framework is used to reveal their effects on the scaling of plasma properties in the sheath with an applied bias potential to the walls. The approach comes with a novel methodology for modeling particle-induced electron emission (PIEE) that includes 1) improved fitting functions for the yield and spectra, 2) the use of SRIM and a summation of the Lindhard formula and a modified Bethe formula for obtaining accurate stopping powers, and 3) a binding energy correction to the PIEE spect…

VEQDB: A Compact and Reconstructible Multi-Device Tokamak Equilibrium Database ↗
Tokamak equilibria are commonly exchanged as gridded G-EQDSK files whose conventions, resolutions, and machine-specific formats impede cross-device comparisons and data-driven modeling. Here, we present VEQDB, an open, compact, and reconstructible fixed-boundary equilibrium database built on continuous MXH--Chebyshev geometry and independent physical-profile roots. By decoupling authoritative equilibrium physics from rectangular meshes, VEQDB enables continuous evaluation and metric differentiation at arbitrary application-demanded resolutions. Backed by an automated numerical validation pipel…

Mechanism of Ionization Avalanche in Tokamak Microwave Gas Breakdown ↗
Microwave breakdown driven by electron cyclotron (EC) waves provides a non-inductive route to plasma initiation in reactor-scale tokamaks. We introduce a three-dimensional Monte Carlo simulation that, for the first time, self-consistently treats nonlinear wave-particle interactions, atomic collisions, and guiding-center transport. The Monte Carlo simulation unveils the key role of parallel Brownian motion in the ionization avalanche mechanism. The predicted breakdown boundary is validated against KSTAR experiments. This work concludes that microwave gas breakdown will be successful under ITER-…

Indirect-Drive Fusion Target Design for Commercial Fusion Energy ↗
This paper presents the physics basis for commercially relevant laser indirect-drive (LID) (radiation-driven) inertial fusion energy (IFE) using a 10 MJ laser driver. To date, this approach, proven at the National Ignition Facility (NIF), remains the first and only controlled fusion method to demonstrate the key physics required for fusion energy production, including a self-sustained burning plasma, substantially de-risking the path to commercial fusion energy. Building directly on these results, we present scaled designs to larger target sizes and fusion gains relevant for commercial power g…

How to assess evidence about Fusion
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
