Earlier sources: Battery Storage
This energy thread follows battery storage through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗142 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

An inference-based tabular approximate dynamic programming for online energy management of home energy management system with energy storage ↗
With the development of smart home technologies, home energy management systems (HEMS) with energy storage are expected to participate in online energy management (OEM) to reduce costs under solar and load forecast uncertainties. This paper proposes an inference-based tabular approximate dynamic programming (ITADP) algorithm for OEM of HEMS. The conventional tabular approximate dynamic programming (TADP) algorithm directly utilizes learned value estimates for decision-making without considering their estimation accuracy, which may lead to degraded decision quality under time-varying stochastic…

Voltage and frequency profile improvement in a storage-less SEIG-PV-based isolated microgrid ↗
This article focuses on voltage and frequency profile stabilization in a self-excited induction generator-based hybrid system without using any battery energy storage unit. Eliminating the use of storage units significantly reduces the system cost and maintenance. Although this may reduce reliability, this work proposes an electric spring-based control strategy that employs a nine-switch converter and a reactive power management scheme that can provide reliability comparable to systems with energy storage units. The proposed system's performance has been evaluated during the day and night. Dur…

Using cross-regional grid interconnection to relieve growing energy storage demand in renewable energy integration: A case study from China ↗
With the rapid growth of wind and solar generation, power systems face increasing balancing and energy storage needs. Cross-regional interconnection provides spatial flexibility through tie-line power exchange, yet the implications of tie-line scheduling flexibility for capacity planning remain insufficiently understood. This paper uses the Gansu–Shandong–Zhejiang interconnected system in China to quantify how tie-line scheduling timescales affect storage requirements for bulk energy shifting and system balancing. Within a common capacity planning and dispatch optimization framework, three sty…

Correlating grid scale battery operation with prices, emissions, and renewables in California and Texas ↗
Utility-scale batteries enable energy consumption to shift from one time of day to another, potentially flattening net demand, furthering renewable energy integration, and increasing system flexibility and reliability. However, realizing these benefits depends on a regional grid's technology fleet, market structures, and operational practices. This study uses historical dispatch data from the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to evaluate how battery storage operation has evolved and how charging and discharging correlates with…

Thermoresponsive building envelope with optical modulation and latent heat storage: Energy savings and thermal comfort evaluation under diverse climatic conditions ↗
Thermal comfort is essential for occupant well-being, yet maintaining it consumes a substantial portion of building energy. To address this, this study proposes and fabricates an innovative thermoresponsive building envelope integrating a thermoresponsive hydrogel (TH) layer with a phase change material (PCM) layer. The TH enables optical modulation, adjusting solar absorption and reflection with temperature to reduce solar radiation during hot seasons while capturing solar heat during cold seasons. Simultaneously, the PCM provides latent heat storage, reducing daily temperature fluctuations a…

Tokenizing battery degradation: a physics-informed and uncertainty-aware framework for state-of-health estimation ↗
Accurate and trustworthy estimation of State of Health (SOH) is essential for the safe and efficient operation of modern battery management systems. While data-driven methods have achieved high accuracy, they often lack physical grounding and fail to provide reliable confidence metrics for their predictions, posing risks in safety-critical applications. In this work, we introduce TBD-SOH, an SOH estimation framework that combines physics-informed feature construction with uncertainty-aware regression. Specifically, each charging cycle is represented as a fused cycle-level token constructed fro…

Monthly Peak-Shaving Control Strategies and Economic Analysis of an Ice-Storage Air-Conditioning System for Metro Stations ↗
The energy consumption and electricity cost of air-conditioning systems in metro stations keep rising with the expansion of rail transit. Ice thermal-energy storage (ITES) shifts cooling load to off-peak hours, yet existing studies mostly optimize ice-storage operation on a daily scale and rarely address multi-chiller load distribution, the coordination of the large and small systems of a station, or monthly peak shaving adapted to the two-part electricity tariff. For a standard metro station with platform screen doors in Wuxi, China, the annual hourly cooling loads of the large and small syst…

Thermal Performance of a PCM Reservoir with Y-Shaped Fins for Lithium-Ion Battery Thermal Management ↗
This work numerically investigates how Y-shaped metallic fins embedded in a phase change material (PCM) reservoir affect the thermal management of lithium-ion batteries. The constructal design method was applied to evaluate the effects of the number of fins and Y-shaped bifurcation length (L1) on the maximum battery temperature, temperature difference within the battery cell, and PCM utilization. The fin area was fixed at 10% of the PCM reservoir area, while the number of fins varied from 9 to 18 and L1 from 1.0 to 2.0 mm. For a 5C discharge, the PCM reservoir without fins resulted in a maximu…

Simulation-Based Design Optimization for Enhancing Impact Resistance of Thermal Battery Case Headers Under High-Speed Collision Conditions ↗
Modern missile, rocket, and glide bomb systems demand long-range capabilities and precision, relying on thermal batteries to sustain electronic components under high accelerations, impacts, and vibrations caused by rapidly moving projectiles. This study employed finite element method (FEM) simulations under collision conditions at 60 m/s to mitigate deformation and damage to the thermal battery header, which seals the case, protects internal components, maintains internal pressure, and houses the igniter and terminal pins. Results showed that the header lid depression and pin bending result fr…

Charging of a Quantum Battery by a Two-Photon Quantum Pulse ↗
We investigate the charging of a harmonic-oscillator quantum battery by a propagating two-photon quantum pulse coupled through a two-level-system charger. Excitation-number conservation reduces the dynamics to a sequential response of the first and second excitation sectors, whose effective non-Hermitian generators exhibit two exceptional points separating overdamped, mixed, and underdamped regimes. We derive the exact full-charging amplitude and the response-matched two-photon temporal mode that achieves perfect charging in the ideal resonant single-channel model. For experimentally accessibl…

How to assess evidence about Battery Storage
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
