THE INTERNET IS THINKING

Earlier sources: Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence covers systems that learn from data, generate content, perceive their surroundings, or act toward a goal. Follow model research, agent tooling, evaluation, and the infrastructure used to build and run these systems.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

5446 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Pulse-Shape Discrimination with Machine Learning for CZT Detectors at DAΦNE Beam Test Facility ↗

Cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) detectors offer versatility, operational simplicity, and roomtemperature X- and gamma-ray spectroscopy, making them attractive for collider applications, yet their use under high-flux conditions remains limited. Here, we present a preliminary feature-based pulse-shape analysis employing machine learning on data acquired with a quasi-hemispherical CZT detector at the DAΦNE beam test facility of the National Laboratory of Frascati of INFN. A 300 MeV electron beam impinging on a lead target produced characteristic Pb X-rays together with a broad background extending u…

Do large language models know which published articles have been retracted? ↗

Purpose Large Language Models (LLMs) can be helpful for literature search and summarization but retracted articles can confuse them. It is therefore important to know how aware LLMs are of retractions. Design/methodology/approach Three open-weight (offline) LLMs were asked whether 161 high-profile retracted articles had been retracted, with a similar check for a benchmark multidisciplinary set of 34,070 non-retracted articles. Findings From titles and abstracts, in over 80% of cases the LLMs claimed that a retracted article had not been retracted (GPT OSS 120 B: 82%; Gemma 3 27 B: 84%; DeepSee…

Machine Learning on Heterogeneous, Edge, and Quantum Hardware for Particle Physics ↗

The next generation of particle physics experiments will face an era of challenges in data acquisition, due to unprecedented data rates and volumes along with extreme environments and operational constraints. Harnessing these data for scientific discovery demands real-time inference and decision-making, intelligent data reduction, and efficient processing architectures beyond current capabilities. Crucial to the success of this experimental paradigm are several emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, silicon microelectronics, and the advent of quantum algor…

    Scicom-intl/Where-Words-Begin-and-End-Whisper-Large-V3 — model update ↗

    # Where Words Begin and End: Whisper large-v3 A forced aligner: give it audio and the words spoken, and it returns where every word starts and ends. It is Whisper large-v3 with LoRA adapters, merged into these weights, trained to read word boundaries off Whisper's own timestamp tokens, on boundaries placed by people only. It was trained on English, Korean, Dutch and isolated words in 95 languages, and it is built for telephone speech: 8 kHz audio, codecs, line noise. ## Results On FA-Bench's TIMIT core test, scored with FA-Bench's own code, its word-boundary error is **11.7 ms** at an F1 of **

How to assess evidence about Artificial Intelligence

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
