THE INTERNET IS THINKING

Earlier sources: Language models

Language models learn patterns in text and other representations to predict or generate sequences. Follow model releases, training methods, reasoning, evaluation, and deployment research; a benchmark result is specific to its test conditions.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

459 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Distribution Matching Distillation for Continuous Diffusion Language Models ↗

Continuous diffusion language models generate all tokens in parallel, yet high-quality generation can still require hundreds of network evaluations (NFEs). We study how distributional distillation can reduce this cost by exploiting the student's probabilistic token outputs. Our unified formulation connects the student's output parameterization to the resulting gradient estimators and yields two methods with the same student architecture and reverse-KL matching objective: Simplex-DMD uses continuous token relaxations and pathwise gradients, while Reinforce-DMD uses categorical sampling and REIN…

CodeMimicry: Exploiting Safety Generalization Lag in Large Language Models via Structured Code Completion ↗

Large language models have achieved remarkable capabilities across diverse domains, yet their safety alignment remains vulnerable to jailbreak attacks. In this work, we identify a previously underexplored failure mode - safety generalization lag - where alignment trained predominantly on natural language fails to transfer to the code domain. We show that this lag induces a code-completion blind spot, allowing malicious intent embedded within syntactically valid code to evade safety mechanisms. To exploit this vulnerability, we propose CodeMimicry, a fully automated black-box jailbreak framewor…

Show HN: Strata – an expressive semantic layer that can say no to your LLM ↗

Hello HN, I'm Ajo and I built Strata. I spent 4 years at Netflix solving self service for non-technical business users. I think I cracked it with my unique approach to semantic layer design. The key challenge is balancing expressiveness with ease of use for our non technical colleagues. It just so happens that focus made it work pretty well with LLMs too. Strata is a full stack solution. It includes a semantic layer, dashboards, subscriptions, an…

Hi everyone, Sanjeev here- founder. My journey in AI started with wanting to break into emerging AI companies, but without deep hands-on experience, it was hard to even get noticed. I started with scope focused minor projects but then curiosity got expanded to understand what happens under the hood of LLM calls, what goes in & how reliable AI agents works and gets built by world's top companies and how future of agents would evolve in next 10 yea…

How to assess evidence about Language models

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
